In this competition there is only one winner (in their mind at least). our rival became addicted to Qat, a mild stimulant and euphoriant when its leaves are chewed, but very addictive.

Companion:

Opposite gender as you. Your companion was from a well to do family and lived in the same place as you. Was a stranger up to this point (maybe just moved to your location at this age) but soon became a loyal friend who would do anything for you, including lay down their life. What you didn't know until it was too late, was that this person was secretly in love with you. They kept it a secret from you afraid you did not feel the same.

Age 13: You have a religious Experience. You hear stories of this religion and seek it out personally to learn more about it. A deity associated with healing or has the healing domain. You uncover the activities of an evil cult. They seek to kill you as they think you are a reincarnated villain of the religion. However you are given a vision from the deity, you are asked to perform a sacred but dangerous mission. (More about this later, but I'll tie it into why you are on this adventure)

This next thing ties in great with you rival/companion roll earlier. Sometimes these things really work out great!
