Isn't there some way to counterspell spells? Can one of you do that?
Of course I could just smack him around until he stops casting. That's what we normally do to mages.
Ardan Kiel
"Yeah, doesn't have to make sense. You think they can whip that out at a moments notice, or would that delay us another day?" Abomentolor inquires.
"I doubt they would have such a conjuration available immediately, so it would likely mean waiting at least a day."

"Counterspelling is a very challenging and risky strategy to execute - you have to have an appropriate counterspell prepared for whatever the enemy pulls out of his bag of tricks - that kind of foresight is very difficult. Let's go with your usual strategy, after all, there is no guarantee that we will even encounter him..."

The group finally teleports back into the crystal palace and finds that at least the place doesn't grow back any of the monsters.
After a majority of the group has an aversion to water, the excursion leads tothe teleportation circle.
The dark walls of this room dampen any light brought within. Inlaid in the dark crystal floor is a large Sihedron rune, each of its arms painted a different metallic sheen—black, blue-green, pale green, red, coppery orange, silver, and ivory-white.

Grergof having the Sihedron works for me. The only other though would be to give to someone with weaker saves, so they can pass it away in an emergency...
"To activate the circle, simply touch the appropriate point on the real Sihedron to matching point on the diagram on the floor. But all of us should be inside the circle when we start, so we go together... "

Ok, the teleportation circle was introduced HERE. From reading what you wrote, I got the impression that the circle had one destination, and was activated by, for each of the 7 points of the teleportation circle diagram, either a) dumping an appropriate school spell or b) touching the matching Sihedron point to the point of the circle. From what you have written here today, I get the impression that each individual point is associated with a different teleport destination... So please clarify.

Brother Grergof Varsk
Once everyone is gathered, Grergof touches each point of the Sihedron to the points on the floor following the order he is instructed. Specifically calling out only the positive aspects as he activates each point.
Foxy Quickpaw
As Grergof touches the first arm of the star in the floor with the matching point of the sihedron, the rune in the teleportation circle activates and the whole group is moved to another place.
The walls of this room are plated in sheets of coppery metal, and are carved with numerous depictions of First King Xin through the ages. Some depict him as a child, others as an old man, with most falling somewhere between these extremes. A single stone statue of Xin stands between two pillars to the northwest—in his hands he holds a coppery platter on which sits a strange contraption of glass and metal. Seven spidery limbs extend from the sides of the contraption to hold the glass in place, while within the glass whirls a cloud of pale blue smoke.
The guardian of this room is a creature appearing as a smoky humanoid with four arms and a swirling vortex in its chest. This 13-foot-tall outsider attacks on sight.

Maybe the bythos would answer the question, if it wasn't too dead to do so.
The platter held by the statue is worth 6,000 gp and made of enough horacalcum to melt down and forge into a single weapon.
The true treasure in this chamber, however, is the strange glass-and-horacalcum contraption that sits atop the platter.

In the blink of an eye you are in the next chamber which is of the same size. The walls of the chamber are covered in adamantine (or the illusion thereof). Seven dark crystal statues of robed men and women in extravagant Thassilonian garb stand around the edges of this black metal-clad chamber.
