"What is this room?"

As I mentioned in the previous post, aside from miscellaneous spy supplies, there's nothing in the room of particular interest.

RAGE Barbarian 7 Hp 80/89 DR1/- ; AC18(20)/T13/FF18; Perc +11; Init +2; Fort +7(+2), Ref +4, Will +3(+2); LBSword +15/+10 (2d8+12)

Someone detect magic, just to be sure.

Amiri signal the party she's going around and walks to the other side, passing again through the stairs, aiming for the other door. She takes a moment listening through it, check the handle and open it if nothing seems amiss.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

The contents of this room are not particularly valuable. This room contains mundane goods such as casks of fresh water, spare furniture, and
basic tools. Several large mirrors are also stored in this room, carefully packaged and covered.

"Ok, let's keep moving. I don't think we'll find her in here."

Terrill walks with the others to the dining area, and suggests that Amiri take a listen at the doors to north and south.

Terrill will detect magic in both of the rooms we've just looked in.

Sometimes a room is just a room :P

Aerynne will wait on the rest of the party's searching before trying the door towards the north of the reception hall.

Terrill's spell detects something hidden in the pile of firewood. After poking around, a hollow log is found with two potions of levitate wrapped in wax paper bearing the cryptic message Shandon: Sometimes a fly can avoid a spider’s snares because he can fly. Be careful. –Dorvik.

Amiri listens to both doors, as Terrill sugested.

"So, should we drink these?"

Amiri hears nothing behind either door.

Terrill gives Amiri a stern look, then says, "Let's drink them when we might need to levitate. Or when we find the spider. Why don't I take one, and you hang on to one?"

He then watches attentively as Aerynne opens the north door off the dining room.

"Ok"

Amiri takes on of the potions and follows Aerynne, sword at hand.

The east wall of this wide room is interrupted by a projection containing a carving of a spider about two feet in diameter. Directly across from the spider, a section of the wall sits slightly askew, as though a door-sized piece of the wall were not quite flush with the rest.

"Poor taste of decor," Aerynne notes sourly, keeping her pistol trained on the (apparently) magical spider carving as she follows Amiri into the room.

"Probably some kind of spell trap. Not much we can do about that unless you can dispel it, Terrill. Just keep away from it."

Aerynne keeps as far away from the spider carving as she can, inching along the far wall towards the door-like construction opposite it. Investigation is then, of course, in order.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Alas, the gunslinger is much more interested in saving her skin from her no doubt upcoming death by fireball trap (or something) than actually looking at the strange wall.

Amiri handles the Levitate potion to Cairo, and moves slowly to X7, examining each step before moving, checking for traps or anything worth of note.
Take 20 on perception checks for 31 total.

Moving things along.

Amiri pulls on the poorly hidden secret door and a couple things happen.

1) The doorway gets stuck after only opening another few inches, not leaving enough space for anyone to fit through.

2) Something *clicks* on the other side of the door and the spider motiff on the eastern wall glows brightly. A moment later thousands of vicious biting spiders fill the space, biting and crawling into every orifice.

Despite the many bites, Amiri tears the stuck door open allowing everyone to flee down the stairs.

Once down the stairs, the ocean of conjured spiders do not pursue. About a minute later, they disappear.

"Spiders! Why'd it have to be spiders!" Cairo winces everytime he is bit as the party runs down the stairs. At the bottom, he sees the party moving more gingerly.

Cairo will first attempt to help Amiri stave off the poison's effects.

Terrill screams in pain and terror as they run down the stairs.

Status: 25/55 hp, -6 to Dex, one successful poison save.

What happened to the idea of sending a summoned monster into the trap?

RAGE Barbarian 7 Hp 80/89 DR1/- ; AC18(20)/T13/FF18; Perc +11; Init +2; Fort +7(+2), Ref +4, Will +3(+2); LBSword +15/+10 (2d8+12)

"Sorry Cairo, i just don't know what to do to help you"

There were no pressure plates. The door was stuck so a summoned monster would probably not have found the secret switch.

In that case, Cairo doesn't take the 4 dex from last turn.

Round 5 of Poison

Terrill: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Terrill is clear.

This large room is sumptuously carpeted with large rugs, several of which bear runic writing woven into their patterns with dull metallic thread. A steep staircase ascends to the east, and a pair of imposing double doors looms to the west. Eight narrow passages extend from this room in several directions, each passageway soon turns to the left or right.

Terrill reels in pain, stumbling awkwardly around the room as he casts detect magic in all directions.

Did we enter via the steep staircase to the east, or is that a different staircase up?

Ugh. Dex damage... that sucks. That's a -2 on all hit and damage I believe.

Aerynne spends the next couple of minutes shivering and shaking and angrily squishing any spiders that happened to come along for the ride. The poison seemed to have caused the joints in her hands to tense up, almost arthritic in a sense.

She glares suspiciously at the runes on the rug. "Trust nothing in this damned place! Terrill, can I get a magic check on that?"

In the interim, Aerynne completely avoids stepping on the rugs with runes on them. She disdainfully draws out one of her potions of cure serious wounds and chugs it down.
