Kenza finds her fist deflected by the mayor's filthy robes. Frostwind and Remy have a little more luck and pepper the madman with alchemical and elemental weaponry.
Undeterred by the interruption, the mayor mutters a dark prayer summoning a pulse of dark energy that washes over the party.

Thror answers the channeled energy with a mighty blow from his axe.

The Mayor dodges Frostwind's flask and Vello's bolt of cold energy but takes Kenza's first blow to the chin.

He grins through bloodied teeth as he channels energy again. "You will all make fine sacrifices once I've subdued you!"
The madman tries to work a spell but the pain he's endured takes its toll and breaks his concentration.

Kenza, the Maiden, and Vello's blows all connect rocking the form of the mayor. Bloodied and broken he collapses to the ground but it's clear from his expression that he doesn't believe himself defeated.
"Fools! You think this mortal shell is all I am? Ghlaunder lives inside me! Soon, he'll live within all of you!"
Suddenly there's a great *craaaaack* as the mayor's rib cage explodes in a shower of blood and gore. From a great split in the man's chest what can only be described as a hideous demonic mosquito emerges.
Frostwind, Thror, and Remy do not hesitate to attack the monster but only the dwarf inflicts any damage to it as the alchemist's aim is off and Remy finds his frost-empowered card completely ignored.
The demon-bug gives a beat of its gore-wet wings and they party begins to feel their blood turn to sludge.
Everyone but Frostwind needs to make DC 16 Will save to avoid being affected as per the spell slow, for as long as you remain within 20 feet of this thing and for an additional 1d3 ⇒ 1 rounds after leaving it.
Sensing Thror to be a threat, the newly born aberration jabs at him with its barbed stinger.

One more strong punch from Kenza is enough to finish off the nightmarish mosquito, spattering the ground with its viscous ichor as it crumples in defeat.
With the battle over, the party has a moment to carefully search the clearing. In addition to the monster and their leader, all the cultist-villagers were slain, collateral damage from the mayor's deadly blasts of negative energy. In a narrow uncovered grave nearby are the picked over remains of previous sacrifices. Carelessly dumped on top of the heap are the remains of a young red-haired woman. From the description you were given, this is Jeminda Anikee.
