My House Rules for Hero Points:

Hero Point Mechanics:

1) One permanent Hero Point may be used to avoid a final death scenario allowing a narrow cinematic escape,

2) One temporary Hero Point may be used if you are between -1 and -9 hit points to stabilize yourself to prevent further blood loss,

3) Temporary Hero Points may be expended to power Feats. These grant a lasting bonus for a one scene or one round duration depending on the feat description,

4) One temporary Hero Point grants a character a chance to supplement their d20 roll by 1d6 and add the result (whatever it was - no re-roll) to the d20 result,

Progression system:
Level 1-10 1d6,
Level 11-20 2d6,
Level 21-?? 3d6. and

5) No more than one Hero Point may be expended per round.

I was trying to charge the living to begin with

Pink eye as one crossbowman steps too close reaches out and tries to separate him from his life.

also When attacking the living with negative energy I got a 14 to hit as I forgot after all this time the bless I cast, where the entire party got that bless

Appreciative that one of the perks of this small trick is that it did no harm to the Living, Ama continued to move with the group so as to not get separated from the others. As soon as she was in range to affect the undead, she started attempting to do so, trusting the others to keep them from reaching her.

The first shot goes wide, Ama breathing too heavily to aim properly.

With a glance in the direction of the battle, I do hope the others are handling that well, Meridian moves further to the north, staying down and behind concealment as much as possible, to set for a flanking maneuver against the men around their objective.

That AoO was against one of the undead not the X-bowman Pink. Would have been tough to charge at them, you would have taken 2 AoO's from these undead. Still want to do it? It is your action this round then I'll move to the NPC's.

Round 2

Unfortunately Xetovia and Gauntlet struggle with the rubble underfoot and the darkness about both missing a solid hit against the undead foes.

Pink-Eye does crush one in the ribs but the macabre thing still move forward.

Erix and Meridian move north while Caelan tries to climb and Ama tries to flank, both do not meet their intended goals though.

I'll allow you to take 10 next round to climb Caelan.

You can hear the guards who have yet to move speak. "Should we help with these intruders?" "Nope, only if they head up here. Brother Garrow wants to work undisturbed". "Where are Keltis and Mallora?" "They took a small squad ahead to clear some of the path, I mean we know the first few miles, it's the rest of the way we don't know yet". "Damn, I guess that means we do have to go into the Mournlands eh?"

Sorry, definitely still here, I've had a crazy last few weeks, working several comic cons, including NYCC this coming week(Wed-Sun).

Upon hearing the guards conversation, Erix decides that perhaps they could help each other out, and goes to offer them as much. "Greetings, I am Erix d'Orien, and it would appear we might have mutual goals, or at least mutual enemies."

Making sure to keep someone positioned between herself and the current fight, Ama tried again to help with the skeletons, trusting the others to the rest. Again, her aim was off, and that was not a good thing in this case. A change of tactics seemed like they would be more effective, but helping without hindering was something she would have to be very careful in doing.

Nah, a miss is a miss. I'm fine with that happening.

The undead having been destroyed by Pink-Eye and Gauntlet cleared up a couple of possibilities, so Ama settled for hindering the remaining opponents. The question was how, as she did not prepare much for their travel, and the others affected too large an area to be safe.

Xetovia takes a 5' step to the northwestern most space, leaving another 5 foot gap between her and the nearest living Karrnathi man. Tossing away her spent sand tube, Xetovia attacks with reach at that man (not sure if he's the blinded one or not but regardless, Xetovia will attack him anyways).

A few moments later a robed cloaked figure exits the ruined building she turns around and can see the fighting literally right down the lane and then turns back to you Erix. She scowls.

"I can only assume you are with these fools. It is no coincidence I am sure that you arrive as do they here and now. Surrender, have them lay down their arms. Do this and we will not kill all of you. What you seek here is lost to us as we have claimed these ruins".

Caelan crashes into the ground and is a bit scuffed up.

Ama heads down the lane to get line of sight on the guards and releases an offensive spell.

With the group up close and personal the closest two guardsmen drop their crossbows and draw their flails to attack Pink-Eye! Both flails fail to connect against the powerful Minotaur.

While the one in the back fires his crossbow at Xetovia. His bolt smacks into a piece of rubble next to the Vampire Hunter.

With his line-of-sight blocked, Gauntlet drops the now useless crossbow, then moves to start a flank upon one of the Karnathi.

He then reaches out with both hands to...nothingness...and CREATES. Shadows and dust coalesce into a greatsword, flat-black and sharp as a razor.

The force missile was a certain hit and that was good, but now its absence had to be factored in to the possibilites that she was accounting for. With everyone engaged, she was not certain enough of her aim to be confident that she would not hit anyone, and the spells she had remaining did not discriminate against who got hit. Since there was enough of an advantage, she felt that holding on until she was certain would not be detrimental.

Though Caelan misses his intended target Xetovia and Ama bring sthe next foe to his face with Melee and Magic.

The final guard drops his weapon, "You are surrounded and outnumbered. Beat it and you'll live. The Claw has little mercy for foes..."

Combat Over!

You all see Erix standing before two guards and what appears to be a Leader, whether he is negotiating or captured it is hard to tell. Certainly the guards dealing with freed horses will be distracted for a bit longer but how long is not clear.

His sword no longer needed, he let's it return to the nothing from whence it came.

He then retrieves his crossbow, reloads, and watches intently as the others negotiate. He speaks to Pink-Eye.

"We should be wary while we wait. This could devolve quickly."
