Ruprecht's bomb reaches the upper balcony and explodes, sending burnt goblin flesh everywhere. The goblin rolls on the ground, but it is too late.
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14 Ellis' hex startles the goblin for a few seconds. The goat tries to gore a goblin, but the little guy is just to fast.
A goblin on the balcony aims his bow at Ruprecht.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 but the arrow just barley misses the Alchemist.
Another goblin on the balcony aims his bow at the large bird, Reecy.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 does that hit? if so take d4 damage
The goblin on the floor mistakes the goat for a dog, and attacks it with a vile vengeance.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20, it stabs the goat, damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

I think the red dots mean they are up on the higher elevation - the big red x's mean they are down

Grim side steps around the column and ends this farce. The goblin suddenly spouts a hole in his neck, blood showering the dwarf and goat.
Lore's bolt stings a goblin in the thigh, wounding him. Reccy flies to the upper level of the room, but the goblin fights off the terrorizing bird.
Ellis and then the goblins.
Yes, a red dot indicates that they are on a higher level, big red X's mean dead

Moving along...
The two remaining goblins on the balcony turn tail and run as fast as their little feet can carry them. They scurry around to the northwest corner of the balcony before disappearing down a hall.
They are running, and can get out of this room in one turn. We are now out of combat unless you want to chase them with Reccy.
Lorelendral Teklet
|
Lore sighs and shakes her head. "I'm afraid allowing those two to escape will mean another ambush further along, but not much we can do to stop them at this point. A shame that. We'll just have to be cautious as we move on."
She helps Ellis look over the dead goblins and does a quick detect magic to make sure they have nothing of value on them that might be magical.
Lorelendral Teklet
|
Lore holds up the potion and nods sagely. "This should come in handy... who needs it most should carry it for now, and that reminds me... who needs some healing?" She looks around at the group to see who and how many need to be healed.
Brother Grimdoc
|
"I am fully healed, Lore. I do not need the potion, so it can go to one of the others. No tellin' how far this dungeon goes in...so we may want t'be watchin' our resources . "
Grim will help carry any loot that looks of value of the bows or swords. Most of the goblin gear he suspects has little value.
Ruprecht Antillious
|
Ruprecht raises his hand. "I'm pretty banged up to be honest. I could deal with drinking it now, if no one else needs it. Stupid goblins!"
Ruprecht Antillious
|
Ruprecht feels much better. "Thanks, Grim. Those arrows kept nicking me! Let's go finish off that last goblin."
Lorelendral Teklet
|
Lore hands Ruprecht the flask of cure light wounds potion with a smile. "Let's go, then."
Arduino.
|
Arduino smiles fondly after Reccy as she swoops down on the last retreating goblin.
"Ah, bless her heart. Is she not gorgeous?" while the crazed blood-spattered Roc pecks deeply into the goblin's thin neck- missing utterly, though striking again.
Appraise check on the sword to figure out what it is (Dogslicer?) 1d20 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Arduino picks up a sword and clumsily attaches it to his side, strapping it on. "Shall we continue? I do not want my little dove to get lonely." The chamber is rattled with the little goblin's dying screams.
DrGabe
|
Arduino, you can't talk with your bird can you?
Reccy comes flying back a few moments later no worse off than when she left. Arduino picks up the dead goblin's sword, a small creatures short sword.
Looking around on the main level, you find a door on the SE corner of the room. The balcony can be accessed by climbing the scaffolding on the statues.
However, that all pales in comparison to the large door that leads to the south. It imminates strong magic. There are seven thumb-sized sockets embedded in the door, arranged in a ring around a starburst design.
Ruprecht Antillious
|
Ruprecht is drawn to the magical door. "Anyone have any idea bout this thing? Very interesting..."

Arduino.
|
Don't be silly, of course I can!" Arduino smiles as she settles infront of her and affectionally strokes some of the goblin guts out of her feathers. "Good girl, good girl! Did you descend upon those goblins like the wrath of a cruel and unfeeling god? Hmm? Did you? Did you?' he strokes her under the beak, much to her evident pleasure. Then he taps her head and she shrinks down to normal size, letting out a squawk of disappointment. "I am sorry, girl, but do not worry! I suspect you will grow to the majestic symbol of avian terror you should be again today."
Turning away to Ruprecht, Arduino raises an eyebrow. "A magical door? Intruigng."
Ellis Hollis
|
Ellis feels a deep itching as the arrow wounds magically close and heal.
"Thank you my good Dwarf, I'll buy you a pint for that." He looks around the room, and says in a troubled voice, "I may be buying you more than one." He looks at the door and begins to study it.
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
He continues, "I do not recognize the runes. However, I can prepare a read magic spell. Unfortunately, I am forced to rest to do so."
Ellis does not have read magic prepped. If we get stuck he is happy to prepare.

The explorers gather around the door and and try to learn more of its secrets. However, the door seems to be resistant to share them. The party learns nothing more from further investigation. You do think it is not trapped, but you are unable to find a way to open it.
Reccy and Arduino look at each other for awhile, each lost in each others thoughts.
Lorelendral Teklet
|
"Perhaps we should just go up to the balcony and follow the one that fled before he alerts too many others, that is?"
Ruprecht Antillious
|
"Yes, Lore. Apparently we will have to wait on the magic door until the way through presents itself. Let's go find that other goblin."
Ruprecht Antillious
|
If Ruprecht can take 10, he will for a result of eleven.
Ruprecht takes his time and is able to eventually climb up to the balcony. Once he gets to the top, he offers a hand to any who need it.
Lorelendral Teklet
|
Lore climbs slowly and methodically. taking 10 for a final result of 8... does that succeed?
Brother Grimdoc
|
Grim will climb the scaffolding, helping others as needed...
"Bah, what is with all this scaffolding...leave it to goblins to forget to add real, solid stone stairways. Green monkey's, that is what they are!"
take 10 for 14 on climb
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 assist climbers
Lorelendral Teklet
|
"Thanks, Grim... don;t think I could have made it on my own... sometimes being short has its... well... shortcomings."
Lorelendral Teklet
|
"Wouldn't miss it for the world... besides you need me to patch you up when they get lucky." Lore pokes Grim in the ribs gently as she jibes with him.
Ellis Hollis
|
Ellis takes his time moving up the scaffolding
takes 10, for a 12 climb check
The goat gets a running start and then proceeds to hop nimbly on the scaffold supports working its way up to the second floor in record time. William the wonder goat lets out a loud bleet when he reaches the top It stands there looking quite smug.
The goat takes 10 on the climb check for a 15, which is pretty good for not having opposable thumbs
Ellis remarks, "William, stop showing off.

The party eventually makes its way to the top of the balcony. Once there, you all find that the balcony is ten feet wide all the way around the room. To the southeast, a grand arch leads to a hallway. To northwest, there is a stone doorway that is closed. That is where the goblin went. You also find the body of a dead goblin, its eyes having been removed by Reccy.
Lorelendral Teklet
|
Lore waits for Ruprecht to check the door before approaching too close to it, since he seems to have an eye for traps and such.
"Ruprecht, wanna check the door before we try opening it?"
Ruprecht Antillious
|
"Yes, indeedy, Lore. Let me have a look at that thing. Everyone might want to take a step back while I look."
