You can smell chemicals and metallic death long before you hear him enter the slave pits. The door to your cell opens and you see the horrid homunculi Drecarus of the Sutured Helix Coven before you. You want nothing more than to jump up and rip that smile off his face, but the gravity in your chamber turned up so high your hair feels heavy.

Sorry friends, my health took a terrible turn the last few months and my free time has been gobbled up by going to the gym. I was diagnosed with diabetes and had really bad eyesight for a while. I am trying to reverse it with diet and exercise which is working, although slowly. I never realized just how poisonous sugar really is for the body. If I return I will let you all know.

Who is still interested in continuing this game? I'm considering taking over, if the GM doesn't mind and players are still interested. Running another campaign on paizo.com for a few years and it'll be delving into Eldar territory and lore soon, so it won't be difficult for me to carry on this game.

Nothing against you taking over Snowman, I am in fact a player in your other campaign (bloody greetings) and really enjoying it, simply thinking about gathrix here. Might be a thing for him to continue on as soon as he gets well again.

We got 5 people, gonna PM Gathrix now, give him a few days to respond and then we'll discuss details. He said "if" he returned and if he were looking he'd see the updates in his campaign tab and weigh in here, since he hasn't in a while, I don't expect a reply to my PM, but I will as a courtesy to him. Then I'll PM paizo.com to arrange taking over the thread, if it's not possible without his explicit permission then I'll create a new campaign and carry on from there.

I responded to BayouSnowman who has offered to continue in my absence. Thank you. I am very fatigued these days when I am not working or doing physical fitness and find that I just want to sleep and not much else. The Dr tells me this is a phase that happens when the body adjusts to all the changes and I hope it will pass soon.

To the players, probably going to be a few days before Paizo can transfer the thread. Just wanted to know who has read or played the soul reaver campaign from RT? Wondering how closely I can stick to that or if I should modify more to make it more of a surprise. For anyone else I'm my other campaign storm of sinners, this game will be set 8n that universe, but not overlapping or crossing over.. Atleast not for a long time, and by Paizo pbp time that could be years. Just thought the few people here, maybe just one, I don't know for sure, would enjoy knowing that. Anyways, I'm going to read up on the previous play and try to update soon.
I also play in Storm of Sinners. I think it is pretty cool that you are putting them in the same timeline.
As for Soul Reaver, this is the first I have even heard of it.

@Gathrix: thanks for starting and GMing this. It has a really cool format and was lots of fun already! Just throw in a post if you are doing better - or you are starting something new. I think you will always find interest here.

As I play Pyros in Storm of Sinners, you will have noticed I'm sure that my posting has been a little spotty, so I am unsure about starting up Cato again. I think I should be a little more consistent now and I like both Cato and this story, so I would like to carry him on, but I don't want to slow things down for anyone else. Just want to lay my cards on the table now, how would you guys feel about that? What sort of posting rate are we aiming for? Realistically I am probably able to post every other day on average.
Every other day sounds fine. Leading could be problematic, but it hasn't been too bad. I got work and a daughter so I'm not even posting every day or every other.
Didn't realize so many of the players were on both games, should be interesting.

Yeah of course every other day is fine ... I have a heavy year coming myself, with lots of exams, work and master thesis, so I cannot guarantee for a everday-average myself - at least no long posts.
Started reading soul reaver, not really designed for Astartes, normally humans could travel freely to trade at the Dark Nexus, but Marines are prized slaves and kept locked away, meaning I'm going to have to improvise a lot. Plus, you Marines hate dealing with xenos and the dark side, making it more difficult to be bought and motivated by profit factor. Ideally this would make some good RolePlay into borderline chaos Marines fighting the temptation and trying to remain good or neutral, but something tells me you men are pure.. Always wanted to do something with some fallen Marines, not necessarily bad, who do more than just follow the codex. Up for some twists? We'd all have to be on the same page or you'd kill each other or some other marine would... Just brainstorming how to make Marines work with this RT campaign.
If I am correct, the original idea of Gathrix was something like the following:
- Astartes from various chapters were captured in various raids and are currently made to fight in the arena
- Eventually they will make an escape or are rescued somehow
- Dues to their experiences are sent to the Deathwatch
- Start of some Deathwatch campaign with the kill team having a cool and common background
He was planned on using the Soul Reaver campaign only as a ... background ... jump board ... starter for a follow up DW campaign. See his initial post @ page 1 - especially the ooc part. Here is an extract:

I can work with the idea of being Astartes and not deathwatch, though we'd use deathwatch rules and I wouldn't mind playing around as Astartes for a while. I got some ideas on how to actually incorporate the the soul reaver campaign and do it with some twists, but no ones mentioned if they've played or read that material yet. I'd like to play around with this game a bit and make it different if you're all agreeable. Pull some Black Crusade materials and have some sandbox fun. Or if you prefer going on a "straight" path to DW I can do that. Just depends on if you guys want vanilla or my strawberry cheese cake with some lemon zest.
To be clear I want to present choices, but if you always want to play the straight up marine, then some of my options would be wasted. Up to you all.

Playing Astartes for a while is fine with me - I'm interesting of how you gonna pull that of in fact, as every one of us should be primarily interested in returning to his chapter after breaking the chains.
I'm fine with playing, use your own style. Least I can do if you're gonna do the dirty work is let you manage your way.

It is a big step from Sanguinary Priest to renegade, but I can imagine the small steps. I don't have Black Crusade, but that can always be changed! I'm happy to play it however and although returning to our chapters would be important, it would be unlikely that space marines would leave a greater threat behind even without direct orders. I think there is a story in the horus heresy series involving a thousand son (pre turning to tzeentch), an honour guard of Ultramarines and a Space Wolf blood claw squad led by a Wolf guard, meeting at a way station and working together to combat the Emperor's Children. I guess what i mean is that there is plenty of precedent.
Looking forward to this, I might avoid pushing for leader for a while though as that often requires longer posts.
