I'd LOVE to see Sydney come back too, and I'm glad you're doing well! :D
Maybe she can pull some Han-Solo-style rescue flyby or something! It'd fit her character pretty well.
Also, I'm making a character for another game and I decided that she's a fan of Sydney's! ;)

GM Cellion |

@Sydney: As Isu mentioned, we're approaching the end of a book right now. Maybe in a few weeks we'll be diving into Book 5 and we could pick you up then (as a 9th level character, no less).

hi team, in case anyone is interested, i just opened up recruitment for a 2e super hero game based in the marvel universe. i would be happy to play with any of you in another game!

![]() |

Sorry for Arcalinte getting mean like that, Isu. Honestly a common problem with Lawful types is they tend to assume they're right no matter the circumstances.

![]() |

Isu is serious here. If you guys insist on doing non-lethal and wasting our resources healing this enemy that has no interest in diplomacy, Isu is going to walk away. Both gamewise and metagaming wise, both Isu and me, Paul, think you are wrong about this. I am not doing non-lethal in here and putting us as a constant disadvantage. You know the math. Is it very very finely tuned in Starfinder. You dealing nonlethal in an area that is meant to do lethal will result in us all dying. Cellion is doing his best to show us that diplomacy is not an option, our kish friends have basically said diplomacy is not an option, yet you persist.
And Arc, just because you are playing lawful does not mean there is no room for admitting you have been wrong about something. Otherwise you are just playing one of those stereotypical paladins that have such a bad reputation among most players.
Just to be clear, I'm not saying that me the player is walking away and quitting if you don't agree with me, that would be silly. What I'm saying is that Isu is going to walk out of the Foundry the way we came if you don't agree. If you want a compromise, I am willing to let you do one diplomacy plea per battle, and if that doesn't work, then you have to agree to do lethal damage and not heal the enemy.

![]() |

To be clear, when I said Arcalinte BELIEVES he is right, I did not mean to imply that he actually WAS. Isu is correct and gave Arc a very solid dressing down for his arrogance. And out of character, you're right as well. I agree with you wholeheartedly, and thank you.

GM Cellion |

You guys were doing some serious counting of chickens before they hatch here. :)

yeah I don't think we realized it was still alive. ha ha, whoops!
I apologize for coming on pretty strong; I still believe what I wrote but I was pretty forceful there. As I said, I am still down with trying diplomacy first, but when it fails then let's mow them down.

No apology necessary, m'dude! It was my fault for not clarifying at the start that I knew Arc was clearly in the wrong and that I was planning concede to Isu after he gave Arc a stern talking-to.

![]() |

i forgot the cult was already here and once again we are playing catch up. Hard to keep little story details like that straight when they happened 6 months ago! Arc's mind is like a steel trap.

Its definitely been a while since you first arrived on Istamak and gotten wrapped up in alien tribes and ancient cerami-tech. Considering some of the questions that are being voiced in gameplay, I'm guessing some folks might have forgotten what led you here in the first place! It might be worthwhile to recap in discussion (or in character if you'd like), so everyone's on the same page.

![]() |

Um...wow, okay. I was NOT expecting that response...Real talk, o mighty GM, how likely is it that Arc would bite it trying to fight Xavra one-on-one?
Isu, I know this isn't the first time you've cautioned us (both in and out of character) about one-on-one combat being suicide in this game, and I want to make sure I'm respectful to your wishes as a player, but I'm not sure how to proceed without making it look like I made my offer to Xavra in bad faith.

That's up to you to judge based on the limited info you have. No peeking behind the curtain!

You are welcome to try a one on one, Arc. But now that Isu has given his say in the matter, you can expect him to not let you get away with it. It is in his character to not allow you to committ suicide like that so he will intervene. In other words, climb up there and start engaging her, and I will join you as soon as I can. Though I am pretty busy busting up these minions so honestly you might get a few rounds in.

![]() |

well maybe she would go for you fighting her while the rest of us fight the minions

GM Cellion |

I accidentally used he earlier. Xavra's a they.
Correct me if I'm wrong Isu, but I believe your plan is to keep your round 1 action as is (engage with one of the ground level kish). So Arc, I think the offer will end up moot indeed. Not that you can't have a cool duel with Xavra if you want, but the rest of the party will be engaged in combat with other foes.

![]() |

yeah that is what I'm suggesting. If you want to fight her go ahead, but I at least won't sit around wasting turns while you do it. maybe you can convince her to just target you.
if you want a chance at a true duel then you should work it out ahead of time with the GM. A duel with the final boss (I'm assuming) isn't fair to the rest of us who have also been looking forward to this battle.

![]() |

I see what you mean. That's a good idea, actually.
In the meantime, I'm gonna try the ultimate Hail-Mary diplomacy tactic and offer Xavra the means to take their vengeance to the cultists in person...likely won't work, even with that roll, but it might be interesting to see if Xavra would be willing to chase after their enemy rather than just drive us off.

![]() |

if the minions are all pretty weak, maybe Spec and Ted and Jelico should help you with ranged attacks while I try to beat down these other guys

![]() |

well shoot, i wish you stayed there and got that natural 20 against the boss. now she is going to start cutting me to pieces.

![]() |

ok people if we want to survive to see the next book we need a little coordination.
Blue kish warrior (59 dmg)
Green kish scout
Yellow kish scout (35 dmg)
Xavra
I propose #1, someone please kill the blue guy. He can't have THAT much HP left.
My plan is to swing once and step away from the boss, so she has to follow me and only get one attack hopefully. If that works out right then I'll only take like 30 damage a round and could last like 5 rounds or so. Though I am going to get pinned up against the yellow one pretty soon.
In the meantime, if you guys after killing the blue one could concentrate on Xavra, that would be great. She really is the only threat here. The others might do a little damage to you but your AC and stamina should be able to take it for a few rounds.

![]() |

was I disarmed by a reaction? I'm not sure what happened.
i'll assume that is what happened and take my turn as such

GM Cellion |

Nope, that was just a miss. If anything fancy is happening, like getting disarmed or debuffed, I try to make sure to say so in OOC text.

![]() |

shoot, now I kinda wish I was disarmed so I could use my called fusion. ha ha!
edit: Actually figured out a way to use it anyway. It works well in this situation where i want to keep my distance so I can't get double attacked

![]() |

I kinda wanna link a song with my next post, but I'm not sure if I should because the comment section under it is even more garbage than usual.
Also, am I right in assuming going unconscious set me back to Unattuned?

GM Cellion |

Also, am I right in assuming going unconscious set me back to Unattuned?
Yep, you go unattuned if you fall unconscious.

![]() |

I agree, Sir Ted, if your name ends in an "A", that indicates feminine in every language I can think of.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

when I wrote that I was like... someone is going to think of a single name that makes me wrong.

![]() |

we've done 164 damage... sheesh! Keep up on those magic missiles, that is really adding up!
We don't have anyway to pull down her AC, do we? That is something to consider as we level up next and can get new abilities. We need some debuffing power against bosses. Of course bosses will resist almost any spells because of high saves. Is there a spell that does a slight effect even if they pass?

![]() |

Arcalinte could benefit from the armor as well. The sword is cool, and it IS more damaging than my Devastation Blade, but I kind of want to keep the two-handed blade aesthetic...

![]() |

I'll take the sword if Arc doesn't care. Isu will stop shouting his catchphrase, though.
As far as the armor, why don't you all do a roll off here in discussion because everyone wants it. (highest of a d100?)
Also-- the loot sheet needs some attention. For example I think the xray visor and haste circuit have been claimed but they are still sitting there. Go ahead and move them to the claim worksheet if you took them and put your name by it.
Anything not claimed we sell if we go back to civilization?

![]() |

armor (1st priority): 1d100 ⇒ 11
scarf (depending what it is): 1d100 ⇒ 41
pistol (last chance): 1d100 ⇒ 95

![]() |

Jelico-- can you attempt to id that scarf? mysticism

![]() |

Can we take 10 on the scarf? Ted gets +15 so that would be an auto make.
8 = karma :p HA! I think Arc earned the armor with his beatdown.
Do we have the time in this room to complete the repair of the xray goggles?
