I'm reposting this because of the new page. Don't hesitate to post out of order, esp. if you're going to be AFK all day.

Yet again, Syd's weapon skips off the ant's iron hard chitin.

Everyone noticed the antenna waving ant run away. Make a knowledge (nature) check.

DC 5:

Spoiler:
Ant is spelled A-N-T.

DC 10:

Spoiler:
Giant ants are tenacious and voracious creatures. You're really glad it left.

DC 15:

Spoiler:
Although they are thought to be mindless, ants are said by some to communicate chemically. The cloying odor may have been a message between the ants. Giant ants seem to have an amazing ability for architecture, creating underground tunnel systems or hives up to 500 cubic yards in volume.

DC 20:

Spoiler:
Any given ant hive has 3 classes of ant: worker, soldier, and queen.

Despite their apparent mindlessness, ants are said to communicate chemically and organize themselves with amazing complexity using these messages. The cloying odor may have been a message between the ants, and the ant that left may be relaying a message from the combatant worker ants back to the hive to summon soldiers. Soldiers are larger, more powerful and have tremendously large pincers - they can also sting. While observing normal sized ants you have seen such behavior result in the summoning of hundreds of soldier ants. Hopefully among giant ants soldiers are not so numerous. But considering that giant ants live in underground tunnel systems or hives up to 1,000,000 cubic yards in volume, there may be a helluva lot of them.

Incidentally, the walls inside the hives are lined with a resin that makes them as strong or stronger than stone tunnels. The deepest part of these hives contain the egg chambers and house the queen. Live victims are said to be dragged into these chambers to feed larvae.

Since both Syd and Cordoba are before me a lot can happen, so I'll post two options. The first is if the ant in front of me is still alive, the second is if it's not... actually, better post three options, since Turin might off the ant I'm going after in my second option

REMEMBER there's a Bless spell in effect, so everyone gets an additional +1 to attack rolls!

1.
Seeing the damage the ant's pinchers does to Ryor, Bohdan feverishly hacks away at the ant.
Longsword attack (1d20+6=18, 1d8+3=8)

2.
With the most immediate danger out of the way, Bohdan quickly looks around for another target. Seeing the fiery haired girl barely escaping the pinchers of another ant Bohdan charges ahead through the sand, intending to knock the ant away.
Bull Rush (CMB +4, +2 Imp. Bull Rush, +2 Charge) (1d20+8=24) - actually, 25, forgot the Bless bonus myself, hehe. I'll follow the ant if I push it (10 feet left of charge)

3.
With most of the ants dead, Bohdan notices that a lot of the people have wounds from the struggle. He kneels down and touches his holy symbol. Again a warm tingling sensation washes over people and some of their wounds start to rapidly close.
Turn undead/healing burst: 1d6=3

[/ooc]

Luckily my forgetting this doesn't swing any of the engagements. Hopefully everyone can add this to their own attacks.

There are some +2 flanks.

And +1 Bless.

The ants have an AC 17 from their chitin. Touch AC 10.

Why don't you just go first, Bohdan.

Bohdan wrote:

Bohdan drives his longsword clean through the ant's head. It continues to stand but seems unable to properly control it's limbs after the sword is pulled free.

With the ant dead, yet still twitching, Bohdan hurriedly races across the sand to aid the young woman near the palm tree.

Still have a move action left, move 20 feet to O18

Overcharged with adrenaline, Turin swings savagely at the ant facing Katella and lops of its thorax.

Attack, damage: 1d20+3=20, 1d6+1=3

The ant falls to the ground it's leg still moving as if it thinks it is standing. The thorax rolls toward Katella. Turin does a touchdown dance and screams in victory, "You... frickin'....bug!"

Bohdan wrote:

Turin just killed it. Would you like to assist Pulsifer?

Attention: the ant at J19 is disabled and the one at R18 is unconscious. Not at home, can't update the map.

well, I'm headed in that general direction... can't really do much with a 20' move

Since the ant in J19 is disabled, the Deceiver moves to P14.

Just waiting for Ryor, then I'll do the DMPCs and the ants. Tobus, you are now the only guy next to the ant on the rock. It's messed up but still needs one more point of damage before it's gone negative.

Ryor shoves his tident deep into the giant ant's thoraxcrit 1d20+2=22

conf crit 1d20+2=11

dmg1d8+2=7x2=14

Ryor separates the ant's head from its body with his trident, then shakes the head off spattering a foul yellow goo across the sand.

Nerius moves to S12 to join in on the flanking of one of the ants.

Pulsifer attacks with his quarterstaff like a total feeb: 1d20 1=3, 1d4=2.

Katella lunges at Pulsifer’s ant but her blade skips off its chitin: 1d20=12, 1d6=5.

Sorry Ryor, that was the thorax.... I forgot between reading your post and replying while posting the DMPC stuff.

F*#k I hate DMing PCs, it takes me a long time because Pulsifer and Nerius's sheets are not clearly layed out and I'm not familiar with their tactics.... New game and all that.

So let us finish this: Ryor, Syd, Bohdan, The Deceiver, post in any order you want and I'll take them as they come.

Is the update Alpha 2 out yet?

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

2 handed w/ falchion +bless (1d20+7, 2d4+6=[5, 7], [4, 2, 6]) You have got to be kidding

Syd shouts out, "Stay still, yer bleeder!" as the ant scampers round him, avoiding his flailing blade.

Ryor not worried about bleeding runs to R16...

Syd wrote:

You don't have to use IC. There's this or you can just roll the dice.

Syd's falchion bounces off the chitin yet again...

Ryor Saar'Narlok wrote:

Haven't seen it. They said this week.

Ryor Saar'Narlok wrote:

It's Q16, next to the ant? The ant is in R16. You can charge, can't you? Gives you +2....

Charging with trident 1d20+4=22 dmg 1d8+2=8

With most of the ants dead, Bohdan notices that a lot of the people have wounds from the struggle. He kneels down and touches his holy symbol. Again a warm tingling sensation washes over people and some of their wounds start to rapidly close.
Turn undead/healing burst: 1d6=3

Ryor Saar'Narlok wrote:

Ryor charges the ant like a berserker and lifts it clear off the ground with his trident, getting a remnant electrical surge from Pulsifer's magic. The ant's spiny legs keep running as if it might somehow get traction on the thinning clouds, unaware that their master no longer lives.

Only one ant lives, unharmed, and Syd is now the center of attention on the beach.

I believe Rad is AFK today, but I'll wait a few more hours just in case.

Bohdan wrote:

Everyone feels a deep inaudible thrum in their bones. A sharp but somehow comforting pain warms your wounds.

I believe only Ryor is still feeling some hurt.

Much to Syd’s humiliation, the gnome walks up the the ant and coolly jabs it with a dagger: 1d20 4=20, 1d3=3.

Pulsifer is not so lucky, almost braining Syd with his staff as he swings at the last ant: 1d20 4=5, 1d6=4.

The Deceiver lunges at it and drives his rapier into its head, eliciting spasms that disable it but do not yet kill it: 1d20 7=17, 1d6 1=7.

Turin brings the final deathblow down on it from behind, collapsing on top of it in a fit or cursing: 1d20 6=19, 1d6 1=4.

End of combat, 250 XPs for slaying the loathsome bugs.

The Deceiver flicks his rapier blood splattering on the ground. "Everyone alright?" The Deceiver looks around for other threats.

Perception (1d20+8=13)

The violent waves churned up by the storm are easing. A now unfamiliar feeling of peacefulness soaks into everyone as the full sun clears the clouds for the first time. The smell of rain drying in the desert sand beckons you to stay and relax...

Late Morning – Pharast 24th, 4708
As the hues of the early morning fade and the dust settles, everyone is able to take stock of what they have and don’t have. Supplies of pork are ample but water is scarce. Everyone has their equipment and clothing but protection from the equatorial sun is needed. Except for Ryor, everyone is healed and in good health despite the terrible conditions of the stockade in the past weeks.

Nerius announces that he wants nothing more to do with Book, and that he wishes to set out alone to the north, he bids you, his fellow prisoners, good luck, wherever you travel. He reminds you that Jon lays strapped to spikes on the beach to the south. He also tells you that his crow spotted what looks like a cluster of oases inland an hour’s walk from the beach. Finally, he warns you that the ant which fled is probably rallying soldiers, and if the hive is close, staying here is certain doom. Ants are consummate trackers, he says.

"I'll go look for some water. Give me some container."

Thereafter, the Deceiver sets off to look for water. He is wary, as Book and company have been seen on the island.

For Pharasma

Spoiler:
Away from the others, the Deceiver invokes the blessing of the goddess of fate and water starts to pour from his hands into the bucket. The Deceiver gives thanks and takes a couple of mouthful of water.

After sometime, the Deceiver returns with some water.

The Deceiver wrote:

After sometime, the Deceiver returns with some water.

You are on the coast of the mainland north of Qadira.

Nerius has warned you that soldier ants will probably be arriving soon, the girls begin to get very nervous.

You mysteriously arrive with water after a few minutes away, but you had to pour out an amphora of wine for the container which upsets Turin to no end. The water is sweet from the wine infused clay of the bottle.

Turin dives under the mouth of the bottle as Cordoba pours it out, trying to consume as much as possible. He finally chokes and begins gasping just as he did when he first woke on the beach. Wine comes out his nose.

"AAAAHH! That was Andoran cherry wine! Ye just poured a hundred gold pieces unto the sand!"

Ignore my last post. Just deleted it.

"You need help, Turin."

Eyes Cordoba's sword and dagger.

"That's some fine steel you has, Cordoba. Can ole Turin haves them when ye dies?"

"Hey Cordoba can you heal me up...would be most grafeful". Says Ryor lookin at his badly mangled thigh.

Turn Healing. Roll 1d6 Ryor.

"Let's see what we can do about that."

1d6=1

"Oh well... Let's try again tomorrow."

Looking beaten, stabbed, hungry and thirsty, Jon Qiang comes marching toward the group. He shows no emotion. Sees everyone has their equipment and walks toward the trunk when he notices the others glance back toward it.

He spends the next 10 minutes quietly putting on his Tian silk, donning his armor and sharpening his sword.

"They went south" he mutters to the others.

"Did they let you go?"
