Kanyk roars in pain as the huge bat slashes at him and sinks its fangs into his upraised arm but his strong constitution staves off the paralysis with ease.
Ripping himself free of the bat's jaws Kanyk swings for its head..

Attack

With a flourish, Ailetha ducks by several party members and then makes a tumbling roll past the bat and the prone Harry ending up standing with her rapier drawn behind the bat. Most amazingly she continues to sing a uplifting song the entire time.

This bat is old;
Or so I'm told;
Kanyk will hit it hard;
And then the bard;
Will make it wonder;
Why it did not remain under;
Then the gnome will sear;
While the priest with beer;
Makes the bat go down;
Onto the ground.

Continuing the pressure Karlan sincerely wished HArry was up and moving right now. The following is assuming KAnyk's not paralyzed. "Throw a big heal on kanyk! Keep on the pressure!"

Regardless I still full attack

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Sword
1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Damage

YES! Sword autoconfirms due to bless weapon.

1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 Shield
1d4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Damage

The first successful attack of either deals 4 extra damage.

So the sword alone deals a total of 26 damage.

I have to say that this round was really needed, the Ac 24 of the bat is a heavy protection.

Well we've gotten the crap kicked out of us but in terms of resources? I haven't used a Lay on Hands yet I've just used one of my two smite evils. I think Celestra's used maybe one or two spells? Aieletha's used a touch of her bard music and no spells? KAnyk should ahve a spell I know he hasn't used yet. I think we're stilll solid. Suddenly my wand investment looks like absolute genius for being what I call standard procedure. I think we're okay The only really really sucky part is that Karlan's effectively operating with -5 strength which is a big ouchie to happen to a fighter but that's why we have Kanyk to splatter things for.

Beheading the bat ghoul thing as a matter of caution Karla turns to the other two left standing. "Let's drag the other three out of here and give them a moment. Ghoul paralysis doesn't last long and in the meantime we can make use of that wand."

Yeah, that's true - I think HOL's condition is far worse then...a chaos beast in melee and a god in front of the door...

If and when I wake up:

Ouch, that smarted. I think that a little more armor would go a long way for all of us.

Anyone need some healing? I got a few spells and since most of my abilities are mind affecting, I am guessing they will be useless on undead. At least, I am yet to find any undead who appreciated my comedy.

Male Halforc Ranger 5

Well that was lucky, thought I was a goner for sure then. Also, yep Kanyk has his single spell but I have just realised the one I chose from the SRD is a third party one so I replaced it with Lead Blades.

As the paralysing effect of the ghoul bats attacks finally wears off Kanyk groans and slumps to his knees barely able to keep himself from collapsing completely as control is returned to his muscles. He struggles back to his feet and spits to clear his mouth of blood before answering Ailetha's question.

"..Giant ghoul bats.. newest least favourite thing..any healing you could through at me would be good at the moment."

Celestra helps Karlan drag the others out and get them healed up.

"Thank you, Karlan! I think your level head saved us all there! I am glad to see that Cayden's strength also helped you out in our moment of need! That was a very impressive strike!"

However, after you were paralyzed, I began to have my doubts. Although I think I am getting better at staying calm in the heat of the battle, I think that last one was just a little too close for comfort. Kanyk and Karlan stand watch and notice a chute that leads up from this cave to the cliff - salty and fresh sea air flows into the cave from there and the bat must have used this way to hunt.

True, but check out this sword. It may not be magical, but Adamantine is rather unusual. Karlan, you should take it and see if we can get someone to put some enchantment on it. As with my rapier, it will probably hold an edge forever made out of that hard metal.
