Okay, now round two acion
Channeling his arcane energy into his weapon, Alexite swings at the first of the ghouls charging out of the darkness.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
He shakes his whip and taps it's pommel into his other hand trying to see if it still works. Seeing Torald step into the breach, Alexite steps up behind him. P22:P23
Torald Othric of Griffonstone |
Torald tries to intercept the incoming Ghouls
Move to Q25
Attack Defensively P261d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
If there is a wall in Q25 and R25 (the black line), then Torald will go to P24 and ready his attack to the first incoming Ghoul.
Zyren DM |
Loremistress Nox |
now for Nox's missing round 1 action
Nox will Move to Q 24 and Assist Elsbeth And Alcheringa by firing a psychokinetic fist at the ghoul on S 24
Attack roll, Ranged Touch
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
damage roll
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Nox misses horribly, due to a moment of absentmindedness.
i'm sorry for being unable to post, i came down with a recent minor yet annoying illness.
Alcheringa |
Alcheringa sees the Ghoul already in trouble from Elsbeths ministrations, and Nox jumping in to help end its life and weighs that against the oncoming tide of ghouls rushing up the coridoor against his open flanks.
Actions:
IF Elsbeth doesn't finish her Ghoul on this round, Alcheringa will hit that ghoul she is engaging. If it dies on Elsbeths turn, Alcheringa will take a move action to R25 and hold his attack to intercept the Ghoul moving along the R axis.
Either way, Blaze will move action to P25 and bite at the ghoul adjacent.
Alcheringa
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Blaze - move to P25 and bite P26.
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
(Trip)1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11CMD hit
Zyren DM |
I will RC Elsbeth to go on
Striking with her rapier the rogue
Attacks ghoul in front of her1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
misses scarcely.
The creature's shriek of victory is soon drowned by a swift cut from Alcheringa.

Out of the darkness the hideous creatures race to Torald to tear him apart and feast upon his flesh
Ghoul P27 attacking Torald1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ghoul Q27 attacking Torald1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Ghoul R27 attacking Torald1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
But all their attempts are futile, since the Iomedites armor and shield prove to be truely blessed.
Loremistress Nox |
is Nox's mage armor still up? it lasts an hour and was cast the round before we faced the first 3 ghouls in the nest, i beleive it should still be up for quite a while
Nox will launch another Psychokinetic fist at the Ghoul on R27
ranged touch attack
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
damage roll
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
does the attack connect with the ghoul's touch AC?
Esfana, i assume your blade should still be under the effects of the magic weapon spell i cast at the beginning of this raid.

heres a little information for Alexite
Arcane Strike Adds to your "To Hit" bonuses as well, so it should be +3 to hit, not +2
Arcane Strike It only affects damage and makes the weapon magic

darn, you proved me wrong. i was only trying to help you. i honestly thought it did affect attack rolls, but my core rulebook is from the first printing. so there may have been a possible errata i couldn't detect.

I played a wizard with it for 17 levels and I still had to look it up the first round of the first fight in this game just to make sure I didn't get a +1 to attacks.

i guess that's what happens when you buy a core rulebook from the first printing and your DM dissallows any mention of errata whatsoever. he also bought the other players thier core rulebooks from the same printing from which i had bought mine. my APG is also from the first printing.
Esfana Arantia |
Could we reserve OOC thread for rules-discuting? I lost counting of rounds :(
Also if the first casting of Resistance have expired by now also is Magic Weapon they have the same duration
Esfana last action was casting Resistance on alcheringa right? So we should already be in the new round

OK its dead or lying down :p
Zyren DM |
Since the front row is already occupied I just moved Elsbeth closer to the rest.
Blaze smashes into the ghoul and brings it down under him biting into his head and ripping its chest open, just a whiff later the thrashing motions of the ghoul end and it lies still.
As Esfanas channels a burst of positive energy
Ghoul in Q26 Will Save1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Ghoul in R26 Will Save1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
one of the ghouls shrieks and its flesh is boiled up heavily, the other one just gives a growling shriek.
Torald smashes his sword into the shoulder of the next undead bringing it to the ground where it draws its last "breath".
Alcheringa you can act before the ghoul in front of you. Just in case you don't kill it:
The ghoul again tries to kill Torald

Hello? Dice God?
Out of the darkness more ghouls emerge, two again, but behind them you notice two floating schemes. They don't appear very human-like, rather ever shifting, but sometimes one can glimpse arms and legs out of black fabric.
These creatures are shadows, surely tougher than the ghouls. They can suck the strength out of you and should one die by the attack of a shadow, there is a possibility to end up as a shadow as well.

Defensive Attack against the Ghouls in Front of me (Priority Q26 - P26)
Longsword 1d20 ⇒ 8
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Dirge Alexite Wintrish |
Alexite stiffens at the sight of the shadowy entities. 'Dispatch these ghouls quickly and get back behind me! Those creatures are shadows and are not to be trifled with. Their touch brings weakness and death at their hands is eternal damnation for your soul. Your armour will be of no protection and our weapons mostly useless.'
He lashes out at the nearest ghoul, his whip charged with energy.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Let's see you roll 1 twice in a row then you can cry to the dice gods.
Shadows are undead and technically only identifiable by a knowledge religion check DC 10 + HD, but . As Alexite is from where he is from and light sensitive undead are rampart, I kind of assumed knowledge of these (especially since he knows what he knows). Hey, I recently saw that common, kellid and shadowtongue are the languages in my home country. Do I know these like all Mordant Spire elves know common, elven and Old Azlant or do I need to spend language slots on it?
Zyren DM |
I think that are only the languages you can choose from to get your starting slots. But since your background was so connected to the Shadow Court, I decide that you get Shadowtongue for free.
That enables you to speak to the two newcomers...
After the party didn't manage to deal any decisive damage to the ghouls the creatures retaliate with newly found belicosity.

Dispatch these ghouls quickly and get back behind me! .'
"These are almost dead, but these 'Shadows' they still come to hunt us... be prepared for me to move behind you then - steel yourself!"
Will be moving NEXT round, this is just a warning of intent
Dirge Alexite Wintrish |
'Elsbeth, Nox, move toward the fountain behind us. Give Torald, Alcheringa and Esfana room to move back as well. Esfana, as I value my soul, leave off of the shadows. Provoking them will only make it worse for us. Damnit, kill these ghouls already!'
Alexite lashes out at the nearest ghoul once more with his ever charged whip.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
This time he at least gets the business end going in the right direction even if it doesn't connect with anything.
Zyren DM |
With concerted effort the party is able to kill the last of the ghouls. For a moment there is only silence broken by heavy breathing and muttered curses. The shadows in front you have engaged till melee dsitance, but haven't attacked by now.
will Esfana channel, though Alexite adviced not to? Only Esfana and Nox are left in rd. 5
Alcheringa |
Blaze and Alcheringa are beginning to take on a defensive stance and withdraw, as the bard directed.
"We were sent to kill ghouls, and we have. I know nothing of these 'things', Alexite they're yours"
This will obviously play out next round, I'm just making it clear what my actions are going to be real soon! ;p
Loremistress Nox |
Nox shall also withdraw. the incoporporeal beings of darkness currently pose too great a threat and she will have to trust Alexite's alternative method. Nox knew that she didn't want to rise as one of thier kin. doing so would mean that she would never be able to turn the pages of another book. as she withdraws, all i was informed about was the ghouls. i do not wish to deal with these shadows nor do i have the magical prowess to deal with them either. Nox tries to say calmly as she withdraws away from the things.
knowledge (arcana)

Esfana Arantia |
Yes, Esfana will retreat and no, she won't channel any more.
"Right, i'll make you room to retreat, am going to do that myself. Our target has been taken care of"
On this note, if she has movement left, and she should, she hasn't moved last round, she well go back (but where is that fountain Alexite spoke of?) as much as possible.I think she can do double move in scale mail, thought not more than that
