Captivating Song (Su) A harpy’s song has the power to infect

Readied Action:

As the Harpy swoops into range of his reach, Nim ceases his wounded animal near death ploy by releasing his spear (FA) and spinning to face the Harpy. Lunging up at her explosively and with purpose, the muscular druid reaches out to grab hold of her wing and arm...

The Harpy banks left and comes in at Nim flying by Anton, Anton swings and possibly misses as she comes by.

This sets off Mihai's readied action, Anton you get another attack from the Bit O Luck.

Nim is ready and tries to grab the Harpy! The Harpy swings to fend off the grab.

The grapple creates an AOO from the Harpy.

Oh, I was wondering why Nim thought that the risk of grappling was worth it. I'd forgotten about that part of the spell. It all makes sense now! 8)

Tragershen steps forward and casts a spell to try and bring the harpy's flyby attacks to an end.

I am working from a phone now and can't see the map, but Tragershen will cast Azlanti glue at the harpy, moving closer if he needs to. Range is 30' I believe.


Got it on the Aspect, adjusting her action now.

Nim grabs the Harpy with the strength of many men, unfortunately the Harpy has powerful natural weapons that rake Nim in the Face.

The talon hits per the previous roll total of a 19 on the AC (with the grappled penalty) and does the following damage.
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
This does stop her AOO and attack on Mihai though.

The powerful talon strike is enough to drop the big Druid but also is enough to stop the Harpy in it's tracks and give the rest of the group a chance to try and end the creature.

It's action is done , it basically is on the ground next to Nim who is prone and bleeding out. The Harpy is in space AC21.

I think that would be Mihai's round 4 action, since in round 3, the harpy triggered his readied action to Bit o' Luck whoever was targeted to be flyby'd. But he's first in the round now, so it's all the same. I think that we're just waiting on Tragershen to choose a square to cast from, and Ishirou to choose a square to Riverdance in or something. ;)

In the ensuing struggle the Harpy is pulled to ground level, but is able to maintain her footing.

Ishirou moves to AB 21 and provides the Flank for Anton.
Tragershen moves up AB,17 and casts Azlanti GLue on the Harpy. The powerful Azalanti spell strikes the Harpy...
Reflex Save vs.DC16 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
She resists the affect, but it does splatter her with some glue.
Gains the entangled condition for 1 Round.

Aedalis moves in and heals Nim, bringing him to consciousness.

Corbrius, you can amend you move to not be on top of Nim if you wish, AC,20 is open otherwise you will both gain the squeezed condition if he does anything but lay there?

Corbrius moves in and attacks landing a solid blow, hurting the Harpy further.

Round 4 starts with Mihai moving up and further healing Nim.
Anton attacks and hits the Harpy.

Still lying upon the ground, Nim hesitates to see if Wic will bring the Harpy down to the ground before making his own move. (delay)

Wic steps closer to the Harpy (5' step to AD 21) and defends his master...

...but fails to put teeth to the Harpy. ??

Nim curses when Wic fails to bring the Harpy down to the ground with him, but sees no other recourse but to try and grab her again...

The Harpy looks around at all of the group around her and Nim latched onto her.
She tries to slip both legs out form Nim's impressive grasp to get away before the party can end her!
Nooooooo!

By luck she pulls just as Nim adjusts his grip and slips free from his grasp. She moves up and away from the group as fast as she can.

She moves to AC 25. By luck the entangled condition only allows her to move 1/2 movement sop only 40' and she is still just above the ground.
This draws an AOO from Ishirou, Anton, Corb., Nim and Wic.
You can't grapple as an AOO, it's a combat maneuver that is not part of an attack, it is a standard action, it's not an attack.
Trust me this is the best ruling for the party possible and is consistent with every other PBP and game I play in.

Ishirou attacks the Harpy!

I forgot to add the +2 to hit for Wic for flanking with Ishirou. I believe that turns both his attack and his AoO into hits (for a total of 14 damage.)

I misspoke earlier when I said Nim hit AC 24... he hit AC 22. :P

A scan of the posts shows me 86 total damage done to the Harpy after Wic and Nim's AoO hits. With Anton and Corb yet to roll their AoO, and the whole party to go before her next turn... We might have her gentlemen! :)

Also, isn't moving her to AC 25 only moving her 20'?

As the harpy tries to get away from Nim's strong grasp and Tragershen's sticky spell, Anton swings once again with his hammer-headed polearm, smacking the songbird that snacks on cannibals hard on her skull.


Noted Nim. Anton, I did adjust you by mistake due to the AOO not a readied action but it was dead with or without your strike so I won't worry about it.
I need to do a quick review of your characters to make sure I am straight on all of the changes/feats/etc once you level up.

As the Harpy flees Nim, Wic, Corbrius, and Anton swing and catch the creature high, medium, and low to end it. Feathers and blood fly everywhere...people look around in hopes of Prestidigitation...

The battle is over. The harpy has a magic vest on that radiates two auras, a greatclub that radiates minor magic.

After being sure that the harpy is indeed dead, Mihai takes great pleasure in removing his earplugs and massaging his ears. "I will not miss the sensation of having my ears stuffed so." Seeing that Nim still suffers from wounds endured, Mihai extends Sinashakti's grace once more...
Burn Bull's Strength to CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3) + 3 = 11
...and checks upon the others to ensure that the do not suffer.

When the possessions of the harpy are tallied, Mihai takes the flute on a whim and tunelessly blows a few notes. Despite it being an affront on the sensibilities of those that hear, the varisian smiles "I trust none would mind if I kept the flute for the moment?"

Nim picks himself up off the ground and graciously accepts the further attentions of Mihai... (HP at 25 of 29) ...before yanking his own earplugs out and placing them into his pack.

I do not mind my friend... but perhaps I should keep my plugs in? Nim manages a smile, even though his face still shows some of the Harpy's recent handiwork.

Although wholly uninterested in the Harpy's weapon or armor (for himself), Nim does his best to assist the others in identifying them.

Relieved that the harpy has finally been slain, Tragershen wastes little time in scanning her belongings for magic auras. When they are found, he quietly sets to examining them closely, trying to determine their exact nature.

Edit: Tragershen will then turn to the ruins, where he begins using Presdigitation to clean away dirt, mud and other obstructions so he can try to glean new revelations from the ancient site.

If anyone asks, he will use presdigitation to clean them up; he's just distracted by the ruins. When someone suggests camping here, he eagerly agrees and helps clean a campsite for them.

Aedalis showed little emotion after the fight with the Harpy, although inside he was irritated his abilities had so little impact on it. He inspected the auras around the two magical items, sharing his findings with the others.

Spellcraft (Club): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

Once done, he assists Tragershen in his inspection of the ruins, using his Unseen Servant to make the cleaning far more efficient.


Between the group, you are able to discover what the items are, although the armor is unique...

It takes you some time to figure out the vest. Eventually Aedalis has Mihai trying it on. The vest turns out to be armor, hidden by a Glamour. Once he figures out how to turn off the glamour you see the true nature of the armor. It is made of a material only one of you have ever seen...adamantine. It is beautifully made and very valuable. Each chain link has symbols carved on it, making it almost a piece of artwork...you can only guess that someone important must have worn it at some point.

Adamantine Chain Shirt of the Azlant:

This Adamantine Chainmail Shirt +1 appears as a beautiful vest. Through a special process known only to some Azlanti mystics they were able to improve on the protection given by the armor that allows it to function as medium armor for its' damage reduction properties and provides the wearer with damage reduction 2/-.
Moderate transmutation; CL 7th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, disguise self, stonekin; Cost +6,775 gp.

The armor seems to fit you perfectly...it almost feels like it was made for you...maybe the cards will tell you more.
