Considering Druids are the only ones that know Druidic, I'd say that the Dryad might be able to understand a word or two, but it still wouldn't be enough for effective communication.

Also: awww, the dryad doesn't know Elvish? I thought all the woodsy-types spoke with elves.
Not actually complaining. Generally speaking I think it's too easy to learn languages/communicate with everything in most RPG's. I make heavy use of language barriers in my games.

Agreed

Perception DC 24 is impossible, since modifier is only +3; no roll.
"It's a Death Demon, it's fear aura is too strong, you can't roll a successful save."
"Incorrect."
"What is your Will Save modifier?"
"Plus 9."
"The DC to beat this Demon's Aura is a 32. You'd have to roll a 23, on a twenty sided die in order to succeed. Now I don't have a math degree, but that's impossible."
DM-Salsa |
Whoops, That was for the RotRL game I'm running. We haven't gotten to combat yet. ^^;
DM-Salsa |
Speaking of the other game. I figured you guys might get a laugh out of this.
I don't know if you should be glad or terrified that I haven't had the desire to pull this on ya'll yet.
DM-Salsa |
You know, you're right. Although Rayla is probably easier on the eyes than Krosk and his ladies. :D
Rayla |
That's how seduction works, subtly. :)
Hmmm. Rayla isn't trying to seduce anyone. She's simply shameless.
She doesn't mind the guys staring either as long as they keep their hands to themselves.
If you meant it the other way around (i.e. that others, including Delilah might want to seduce Rayla) well... I can comment that but I'll put it in a spoiler tag so you can decide whether you want to find out that way:
Kylar Bannon |
Not trained in that one yet. Soon, though. Soon I shall have ALL the knowledge. And linguistics.
Come to think of it, it's kinda funny Linguistics isn't a Know() skill. Too many extra rules to tack on to include it in there, I guess.

I live in Alabama, so for those of you who've heard about the storms last night.
First, I am okay, Sleepy from lack of it, but okay.
Second, I may not be able to post this afternoon or tonight. Round two's on it's way here and it's supposed to be an encore of last night. Which means the power might go out.
DM-Salsa |
Safe and sound, and probably should be rolling a new guide for you guys. :D
Helena the Pale |
Awww, but I like Wilhelm. =[ If he gets killed, there'll be no healing for whoever's responsible!
Also, Rayla, you're right about us being the only "good" people in a group of more... loose morals. Helena finds some of Rayla's mannerisms odd, and her shamelessness irritating (probably stemming from a blind childhood and a cursed puberty; she's a bit of a prude in that way), but she's shown herself to be good enough to deserve respect. We'll see how it all develops!
DM-Salsa |
It certainly is interesting, and I'm having fun playing the old man when he buts heads with the two northmen, so to speak.
I would like to ask that you guys let me know if I need to tone it down some.
Also, if I read Bjorn's post right, Rayla is not the only one with no shame.

Seems to me like all puberty (puberties?) is/are cursed...
And the tone seems fine to me! Complicated internal dynamics are one of my favorite parts of roleplay, provided the players are mature enough to keep it in-game.

Yeah, it's cliche. But it makes sense, eh?
Oh man, I just re-read Bjorn's post to see what you meant. Why is Delilah not staring? :P
Heh. Kylar. You want internal dynamics, you should see any of the three games I play my bard, Horatio, in. Salsa could tell you all about the dynamics that sprang up in one game... :D
Delilah Fireblood |
Probably has something to do with what happened earlier in town. This post right here.
Kylar Bannon |
Seeing as Kylar has not actually used any of his spells today, he could take a watch. Not intending to change his memorization for the next day.
Though (as this is my first time playing a wizard) I'll confirm something: Salsa, I'm currently assuming that any unused spells and spell slots remain with Kylar until he uses them, regardless of the passage of time (for instance, if he can't memorize new spells in a certain day, he retains whatever spells he didn't cast from the day before). If that is the wrong interpretation, let me know.
DM-Salsa |
Short answer, yes.
Long answer, That's the way I'm playing it until I find something that says otherwise. (Not really looking.)

What do you mean by "how Björn has dealt with the fairer sex"? By the brief description I get the impression of bear of a man (literally) with impressive physique and a lot self esteem, who is jovial, friendly and hearty... not sure where I put a charisma score of 7 (How is that even possible?) in this context, but we shall see.
I don't really see any references to women there, however. Is there a story somewhere I don't know about?
I do hope that I have cleared up any perceived confusion over how Björn
has a 7 Charisma and...I must admit I am somewhat concerned with the tension in the group at this point. I don't want it to end in blood shed. I find it important that a group, for all their differences, gets to result and works together towards the common goal.
I further hope that you can bear with me to discover his jovial side.
Skäne Snjármǫn |
Echoing Drayen regards the perceived tension, please don't be concerned... there is a very playful and fun side to Bjorn that will come out.
Skäne is plain cantankerous at times, but is also the more measured of the two Northmen - I hope that's coming across in our rp?
These characters (or at least versions of these duo) are like old shoes to myself and Drayen, so we're establishing the dynamic and their culture (albeit a brisk, somewhat harsh one that befits their homeland) before we fully immerse in the party as a trusted and common entity.
I've been using Kylar as our link into the group, whilst trying to explain the rationale behind the Kaldnordmann attitudes. However if any of the above is impinging on enjoyment just holler and we'll change it up.
Cheers

I further hope that you can bear with me to discover his jovial side.
Har har! ;)
As I said earlier, I think things are working fine. I was a tiny bit uneasy at first, because there ARE less skilled RP'ers out there who would simply start attacking their own party at first provocation (read: if they don't get their way).
As I'm fairly certain neither of you are that sort of player, I'm looking forward to more giant-blooded bumps in our road, so to speak. It's helping me develop Kylar simply by making me consider a lot of issues (actually, this is probably the best group I've ever seen for helping a new character get fleshed out).
AdamWarnock |
So does this fun side like playing with Goblins? :D
On another note. I have enjoyed the dynamics here, and I hope you guys are having fun. That's the point of any game, after all. And if you're not, I need to do something to fix it.
I also hope you guys like Wilhelm, I didn't plan for him originally, but after the part with the Gate, I liked him too much just to leave him be. :)

For s~$$s and giggles, I paraphrased our DM's earlier link. With apologies to you all (heh... not! ;) ):
""Delilah knows what goblins want. Goblins want Delilah." She says while presenting herself. "Delilah make sweet, sweet lovin's to all de sexy goblins. Delilah is muy sex-ay, yes" she rips off the pants to reveal that she is wearing a black leather thong.
On either side of her stand two Kaldnordmann, who rip off their shirts, revealing that they are wearing pasties.
"Delilah is in needs of sweet lovin's. Delilah will win sexy goblins' hearts with a dance off to the death! Go forth my comrades! Fetch me the sexy goblins!"
Yeah, the northmen wear pasties. Who knew?
Helena the Pale |
Hey now. I already had to live through that scene once. >.> Poor Horatio will be having nightmares about that banana hammock for weeks...
DM-Salsa |

Well, At least Deliah is easier on the eyes than Krosk.
The jury's still out about who's the better looking in pasties between the hairy men of the north or the goblin warchanters/strippers.
Also, I figured it'd be Asuriel, who is GMing a RotRL game that I'm that brought that back up in a way to scar my mind. Well played, sir, well played.
@El Ronza: Oh I can come up with something to keep him from having those nightmares. I just can't guarantee that he won't have nightmares. >:D
Helena the Pale |
I fully encourage the torture of my characters. As long as it's for the purposes of their development and growth.
Some things are just needlessly cruel. :p
Skäne Snjármǫn |
No need to worry about either Drayen or myself being the type of noobs who will go berserkr for skit and giggles. We've been round the hus many times and hopefully will win over the group with the Northmen :)
@Kylar - well played sir. Very well played :)
Kylar Bannon |
Tried to wrap up the entire interrogation as quick as I could. Hopefully after their answers to this Kylar will be ready to feed them to Wilhelm, or whatever. Also, kinda wishing somebody else had a hard-on for interrogation so Kylar didn't have to shoulder all these social rolls. :)
DM-Salsa |
Well, Wilhelm could have, but he'd rather kill them all and let Phrasma sort them out later.
