A friend of mine plays a game called Shatnering - when someone yells "Shatner!" you have to overact whatever you were doing. You're right, though; it does sound... crude.
I find it hilarious, even though I've never actually watched Star Trek.
The original series is very dated, but not painful. Next Generation is pretty good, especially after a couple seasons. DS9 is just good all-around. Voyager was hit or miss for me.
Don't talk to me about Enterprise. That show was ruined from the first time it's opening sequence played.

Don't worry, Horatio, having two faces isn't a bad thing. Olivius can't talk his way out of a paper bag. Besides, it's more about the dice at this low level anyway.

“Oh, really. Now hear this, angelkin, CFB: you do not know who I am, and you have no idea of the state of my soul or my character. There is exactly one person in creation who decides who and what I am and will become — and you’re talking to her!
“When my time comes, Iomedae will judge my soul to be righteous or damned. Until that day, your insight is neither sought nor welcome. My metaphysical well-being is hale and well in good hands, thank you, and frankly you should be more concerned with your own. ‘Why beholdest thou the mote in thine sister’s eye, and not the beam in thine own?’, you condescending harridan?”

The smile vanishes in a blink of an eye. Asuriel crosses her arms on her chest and shifts her weight to her right foot.
"Harridan? Excuse me? Was that truly necessary? Do you always resort to name calling when you don't have your way?"
She raises her eyes, looking towards the sky and slowly shakes her head as if frustrated with a school child. "My, my, my. Quite the temper you have on you, isn't it? Your ignorance of my observations is but an example of the continued."
Asuriel turns to leave, no longer interested in this conversation. "If you'll excuse me, I have more important matters to attend to."
She pauses after one step and turns back around. She places a single finger on her lip and acts if she suddenly has remembered a very important fact. "I do not believe Iomedae will need to invest much effort to determine, what was it said now-- Ah yes, what you will become."
She turns back around and intends to walk away with more important matters to address.

Well me officially on the poop lost, let me take this opportunity to introduce myself! :D
My name is Cory, I live in Maryland and I'm a 36 year old techie who manages a datacenter in DC. I've got three boys under the age of seven that keep me on my toes 25 hours a day. I'm currently GMing two RotR games right now, I love this storyline! I've been RPGing my entire life, almost always in the GM role, starting when I built a Lego RPG for my friends back I. Middle school a long, long time ago. Spent most of my time in World of Darkness and only have been Pathfindering it since '12. If you find in doing something wrong first thwack me then please correct me (Caveat: Pavanna must first ask politely before thwackage).
Anyway, I can see you all already have a great group dynamic and I thank you for inviting me in and I look forward to healing (most of) you soon!

Heh — before GM Salsa revived this campaign, I was actually playing with the idea of GMing a PbP of Rise of the Runelords reinterpreted into a pseudo-Greek setting, with the pseudo-Greeks as the Chelish immigrants and proto-Russians/Ukrainians as the locals/Shoanti, drow as the good elves(!) in the area and the ‘light’ elves as the arrogant brutal imperialistic jerks.
Sheriff Belor Hemlock as Phrourarch (Garrison Commander) Basileios Phillipides, a tall, burly blond Rusyn, wearing a scale klibanion and hoplon shield, armed with spear, xiphos and shestopyor, riding a hippogriff into battle... tell me that’s not a cool image, I dare you!

Asuriel, I think you should put up a character description. I'm trying to decide whether Horatio would resist being thwacked by Pavanna to turn on the charm. ;-) (No offense, Pavvana, darling, but our dynamic is... complicated.)
Well, behind the screen, I'm Veronica (call me Ronnie), a 23-year-old amateur concert photographer and volunteer primary school assistant with asperger's syndrome and too much free time. I'm GMing Kingmaker for my friends and probably playing in too many PBPs, of which this character is in three. But this was the first I loved, and probably the best I've been in, so I'm positively giddy to see it back.
Damnit, Pavanna. That sounds fantastic, and part of me would love to play it, but the rest of me knows I'm not intelligent enough.

Hi Ronnie! I'm planning to flush out her full background and description today! I was focusing on crunch and background prelim yesterday so we could start. Sorry I know I'm a little behind everyone, my games I GM kept me quite busy as I try to keep the pace quite high. I'll be caught up soon though, hang tight!
On a side note, I hate being restricted to avatar pics of only Paizo origin :( I can't find anything close to what I wanted. Just another reason I like hosting my own forums and making my own rules. :D

Wow, Pavanna. That is one of the very rare times where I don't know half of the words in a post.
On the intro bandwagon!
I'm Gideon, a 28 year old father of one, husband to another, and Sign Language interpreter to just about everyone else. I've been pathfindering for about 2 years and PbPing for about a year and a half. :)

Yeah, as I complained earlier, the only thing right about this image is the smirk. Hopefully <redacted> will do a good job bringing Horatio to life, and I'll be able to show you all what he really looks like!
Also, for those who don't know and anyone who may have forgotten, I'm in South Australia, so sometimes I go to bed and miss out on all the juicy RP. It's also why Pavanna and I hads such a strong dynamic in the last round, because our timezones are so close.

            Well, since we're doing introductions.
My name is Adam. I'm from Alabama and I work for a local IT shop that specializes in Managed Services (ie we make sure our clients computers are in good shape and do a lot of preventative maintenance.) I am on the Online services side of things, which is a fancy way of saying I deal with websites, email, firewalls, and networking stuff, but mainly websites at the moment.
I am 24 years old, and have been playing Pathfinder since 2011. Rise of the Runelords was what got me interested in both PBP and GMing. Out of the 30-some-odd aliases and characters I have played, or attempted to, my favorites are Gkirkhan, who was inspired by the Jagers from Girl Genius, and Raseri Whitescale, who's in one of Cory's RotRL games.
You guys have no idea how happy I was to bring this back.

I got the news of the campaign's resurrection just as I was heading to bed. I stayed up for hours catching up in the discussion thread. Next thing I knew it was 4 am...
So yeah, this being back is probably one of the best things to happen to me in a long time. When you're battling depression, you take your joys wherever you find them, and this was a big one for me.

You could say I am "rocket Scientist" but that would not be true. I am in fact a nuclear technician that has really bad spelling ability.
lets see (3 boys, 2 in college so I am mostly broke) back story...
6 years US Navy Submarine service, 3 Years Army (Armored Cavalry) 22 years nuclear power plant worker / Union Foreman.
been to the North Pole, through the Panama Canal, spent lots of time in the Caribbean. and lived in Scotland for 4 years.

Ronnie, I doubt I’d be setting that high a bar for you to clear. I’d be making a lot of it up out of pop-culture stereotypes, Wikipedia references and Google translations, out-takes from 300 and Jason and the Argonauts, and various other sources to evoke the feeling of a period of history I know I don’t know in nearly enough genuine detail. ;-D
@ Olivius/Gideon, in case he hasn’t hit Wikipedia yet:
klibanion: a fifth-century Greek cataphract’s scale-mail hauberk. Actually a cataphract slang term, since it translates as ‘oven’, a clear remark on how damned hot wearing it got in a Mediterranean climate ;D
hoplon: a round heavy shield, one of the iconic armaments of Greek hoplites in the Homeric tales and the age of Sparta v. Athens
xiphos: a Greek shortsword, like Eric Bana and Brad Pitt used in their duel in Troy :D
shestopyor: (Russian) a six-flanged mace, traditionally a symbol of authority
And FWIW, I’m Danyel (yes, that is a valid spelling for a man’s name, according to my father and my birth-certificate, and like Johnny Cash’s ‘boy named Sue’, I had my share of childhood scraps about it). I’m a year older than Cory, working in a supermarket by day and moderating the BattleTech forums by night under my primary profile-name. I started out with AD&D in high school, drifted into Shadowrun and then BattleTech in the late nineties, then picked up D&D again just as the 3.5 era started and from there graduated to Pathfinder when the 4e transition came along.
On the down-side, though, I live in a town not much larger than Sandpoint, so I haven’t had a real-world gaming group since... high-school, and a lot of that was hack-and-slash. :-( This PbP is some of the first heavy-duty roleplaying I ever got to do, and as Ronnie has said, it turned out to be a blast, so the revival has me just as stoked. :thumbs-up:

Replace 'bard' with 'musician', then. There's no way it's Horatio who's actually the problem! :P

Ok! Just skimmed the previous gameplay thread. There's the mysterious Cade, Saroune has agreed to magical tutoring in exchange for special combat lessons, and everyone seems to be getting along swimmingly except for some tension between Olivius and the Limp-Wrist. :)
We also had a tendency to make up slang, which continues, I hope.

I've added a new tab to my profile, so if you've ever wanted to know what Horatio thinks of your character, feel free to check it out.

I've also run Warhammer Fantasy, Shadowrun, and Legend of the Five Rings.
