Unfortunately, I don't have any other characters free in this tier. I can always take a pregen which will add a lvl 4 instead of a level 3.

DM Panic |

Pregens are always allowed if you don't have a character of the appropriate level.
The level of the pre-gen is determined once we know the subtier we'd play without the pre-gens. Thus, if we had a lot of 6's, the pregens would be the level 7 pregens.
So far I see:
Hrothdane .. 4, 5 or 6
Baerlie .. Fighter 6
SirPeter .. Pre-gen
Zinou .. Cleric 3 or pre-gen
Bold Strider .. probably has a PC for any subtier
Adeah Silversong .. ??
If the group was Hrothdane's 4, Zinou's 3 and Adeah brought a 4, it could easily end up low subtier even with a 6th level fighter.
You could also easily have this be a 6-7 with Hrothdane's level 6.
We'll wait to see what Adeah and Bold Strider are thinking here as I think folks always prefer when it's someone's actually PC versus a number of pre-gens.

I'm level 3.2 with a Chronicle waiting in the wings for after I level up.
PFS #: 89635-1
Day job: Survival (Hunter's Lodge vanity): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Initiative: +8
Perception: +9 (darkvision)

![]() |

True, I'd prefer to play Pierre :)

![]() |

My preference is my bloodrager (level 5), as I think he comes across well in PbP and I haven't got to play him for months. He's a melee tank.
My hunter (level 4) doesn't come across as well in PbP b/c so much of his personality comes across from his accent. He's a reach melee character.
The psychic (level 6) is fresh in the sense that I used a rebuild boon on the summoner I didn't care much for and he's got a totally new name/personality/etc.... He's a blaster/enchanter.

![]() |

Looks like a low tier game with all the 3s!
Carlyle the Flamboyant, Master of Ribbons, checking in for duty.
PFS #: 73433-15
Day Job: None
Purchases: None
Init: +5
Perception: +1

![]() |

Then, off I go with Pierre! He's a support build with a strong will to avoid unnecessary combat, using his rhetoric.
PFS # : 93583-4
Day Job Roll : None!
Initiative : +1
Perception : +3

DM Panic |

Right now, it sounds like this is our group.
Elliot 6
Pierre 3
Adeah 3
Carlyle 3
Hrothdane Bloodrager 5
--
20 / 5 = APL4
Subtier 3-4
SirPeter's pre-gen will be level 4.
I'll give folks until tomorrow AM to make final decisions on the characters going since we had a split muster and determine if they're okay playing down or want to bring a pre-gen or another PC.

![]() |

I also have this guy if we really want to play up.

![]() |

Carlyle, I'm having fun picturing your character as being voiced by the guy who did Varick from Legend of Korra.
Incidentally, if each of you had to pick a voice actor for your character (or tv/movie persona), who would it be? Adeah would be played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, from her Buffy days.

![]() |

I've actually never seen Legend of Korra. Always looked like a children's cartoon show to me, but the local game store owner said he felt the same until his kid watched it and he said he enjoyed it. So, I might give it a shot.

![]() |

I wasn't as impressed with Korra as I was with the original series. Loved the original series. But it was good.

@Elliot: You could have prepared different spells for the day, even going as far as to sell Ezren's gear for gold which you in turn purchased scrolls to read.
You'll need to sort out those changes ahead of your next post though as we're already in initiative with Ezren's late check-in.
Additionally, you aren't able to ready actions outside of initiative/combat (Ezren's hand of the apprentice) - it's fine if Ezren's intent is to have his hand of the apprentice ready, but you have no commitment for whatever your round 1 action is once we go into initiative and are free to choose any action.

![]() |

Ok! But I'm not Elliot, I'm SirPeter. =P

![]() |

@DM Panic,
Items sold (50% price):
ring of protection +1 (1,000 gp)
oil of magic weapon (25gp)
scroll of charm person (12,5gp)
scroll of comprehend languages (12,5gp)
Items bought:
Scroll of Create Pit (150gp) - written in the spellbook
Scroll of Summon Monster II (150gp)- written in the spellbook
Wand of Mage Armor 50 charges (750gp)
With that, the prepared spells are:
2nd—create pit (Ref DC 16), summon monster II, spider climb
1st—color spray (Will DC 15), vanish, sleep (Will DC 15), obscuring mist
0 (at will)—read magic, detect magic, light, mage hand
Ok?

We're still a while away, but I realized I'm missing check-in information from the following PCs:
Old Iron
Ezren
I'll need your PFS IDs, Day Job checks, factions for when this is reported later.
As our game is part of PbP Gameday 4, I'll also be rolling for prizes/boons when we are complete.

![]() |

I don't know where I'll apply this chronicle sheet yet. Can I tell you my PFS # at the end?

![]() |

Ah, sorry!
Character Name: Old Iron Tyr
PFS Number: 99807-9
Faction: Exchange
Day Job: Mercenary Company (Diplomacy Caravan): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

For the record, Adeah's nicknames aren't (usually) meant to be insulting-- a bit humble-keeping, perhaps, but not insulting. That said, let me know if you don't like yours. :-)

![]() |

No problems with nicknames. The "damn song" that Ezren was talking about, was the song that is already playing loud in their ears there. =)

![]() |

No problems either :D Just RPing what Pierre would say.

DM Panic |

@Anyone: Pop the spoiler below. It's a bit "outside of game" in terms of the content, so don't pop if you prefer to play without a bit of a metagame chat.
He's not evil, but he's not about to give something up in his possession that he believes has value.
I'm not the kind of GM that would associate 20,000gp in value to this minor artifact and make a table of 3-4 PCs go down ponying up that coin. I imagine the easiest thing is that since Na-Kraka is an aspiring arcanist, he could be convinced to accept some of Ezren's magicks. This doesn't impact Ezren's player (or any PCs that get Ezren's credit).
I don't want a PbP to get bogged down in a lot of conversation where facial cues and typical in-person side discussions could quickly clear up things that may slog on for week(s) in PbP... so make of this what you will.
Most tables would have surely fought him since he attacks if any attempted Diplomacy check of DC30 fails (even a DC29) - perhaps irrationally - to ward you away from his lair and his book. Pierre's a bit of an exceptional subtier 3-4 character in that he made this check, so I don't want to rob him of the experience of solving this encounter diplomatically, but it's a little more challenging to do so as written versus simply having Na-Kraka charge forward and start grappling folks!

DM Panic |

As per the gameday rules here, I'm rolling for boons now.
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Adeah: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Carlyle: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Elliot: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Ezren: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Old Iron: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Pierre: 1d20 ⇒ 6
No boons!
We are essentially in wrap up on this scenario. It may feel a bit wonky as Pierre hit the scenario's high Diplomacy DC to avoid the last combat (it's printed in there as an option, but it looks like they didn't expect many players to hit it since it's a bit vague in how to resolve once they make it).
I'll be working on chronicles, but please continue to roleplay the scenario out today (possibly tomorrow) with Na-Kraka until you actually walk out of his lair with the tome in hand.

![]() |

![]() |

Was it me, or did this scenario seem much shorter than most?

![]() |

Ok, that gives a little more information about what to do here. When I read your spoiler (in game), I was like "And what can a cleric give to a greedy creature?" but, thanks to your explanations, I see what Pierre can say.
On the matter of solving the things, I always think, as a PBP GM, how would that happen in a face to face game. So I agree fully with you.
And yes, you're right, Pierre should definitely get some sense motive :P
@Adeah: Indeed but we had four encounters, two of which were quickly resolved with diplomacy. :)

DM Panic |

Hi everyone. Sorry it took until today to get out chronicles, but apparently I had a Windows reinstall in the cards after Halloween this weekend.
Thanks for playing!
Here's links to your chronicles. Grab 'em fast since I usually pull 'em down in a few days.
@Everyone: Also note that you can spend 1PP to learn Celestial or Infernal for free in this scenario. Should you choose to do so, make sure you note that you've spent 1PP and which language you learn.

![]() |

Thanks a lot GM! I had a blast :) Pierre will select Infernal as well.

![]() |

Got it. Thanks GM! And I, too, will pick Infernal since I can already speak Celestial :-)
