Super-busy work deadline, super-tired. Should be updating tomorrow.
Carinna Del'annerie

Yup, I think that plan is right way to go!
Cassandra Lupin
So far. Is there even a place to set up an ambush?
DM Jesse Heinig
The ground around the fort is cleared for about 30'. Then it's mostly scrublands and occasional boulders for much of the surrounding territory. You could set up at a small copse of trees about half a mile away - the smoke from a smoky fire would be visible easily to anyone on the wall.
DM Jesse Heinig
Did we accidentally migrate to the discussion thread?
Cassandra Lupin
yes. Hang on.

Hum... I've got an idea...
We could still lure them but in a different way. Most of the bandits are man but luckily we have Vance and Hatch with us.
We could disguise one of us (probably Cassandra as she is the most 'wild-looking' as a bandit and so we'd have three bandits (Cass, Hatch, and Vance).
Cass comes closer to the horses, sending them away towards north while Kavalina, Korinne, and Telmarni lay down on the ground 'playing-dead' while Carinna stands in fighting position (with an arrow under her arm in a way that looks she'd been shot), while our 'three bandits' surround the camp.
From the distance it would look like a couple bandits had ambushed a bunch of girls and I think it is reasonable to assume the'd come closer, specially if some of them recognize Vance from his previous scouting.
This way Cass and Carinna would be in fighting position and the other three could still participate with spells, even if prone.
Cassandra Lupin
I don't think anyone has a bluff score (my +3 isn't a lot) so they'd probably see through it before they got close enough to take advantage of. However, if Vance and Hatch make themselves scarce, a group of woman alone might have the same effect.
Cassandra Lupin
Something happen to the DM or are we waiting on someone?
DM Jesse Heinig
Got sick, didn't have the bandwidth to keep up with everything over the weekend.
DM Jesse Heinig
Still sick, for those curious. It's just a really nasty cold. Lots of snot. Very painful congestion and sore throat. Keeps me tired.
Telmarni
I believe we can wait for you Gm. You should take care of yourself first. So get well! :)
DM Jesse Heinig
Still mending.
FYI, I made a satirical post on a humor thread, but I think there exists a possibility it could be misconstrued and reported, so if I am suddenly banned from the forums, well, that is that.
Cassandra Lupin
The ones I understood are funny. Someone likes Daniel Tosh.
Telmarni
I did say it would be funny. ;]
Cassandra Lupin
Yeah. Is that a surprise for all of us or just Telmarni.
DM Jesse Heinig
Just Telmarni. This was totally unplanned.
DM Jesse Heinig
Workin' on it. Things got hectic all of a sudden 'cuz I need to travel tomorrow for a memorial service. Sorry!
DM Jesse Heinig
@Cassie: Skinwalkers got errata on shifting: No Charisma penalty, no limit on uses per day.
Telmarni
Sorry about being gone for a while, work and receiving a head cold knocked me out a bit. But I am back and will try my best to keep up with you all.
DM Jesse Heinig
Was at memorial for a friend over weekend. I've placed Cass's token on the map. She's actually under the stairway. As you come out you'll pop out of that spot, when you're ready to do so.
Cassandra Lupin
Very important, did Tel see how many people came out to find them?
DM Jesse Heinig
Three. Definitely not the whole camp. Dirty Jeb & Ayles may have overestimated their own importance.
Cassandra Lupin
You still have a darkvision scroll right?
DM Jesse Heinig
So do you want to have someone try to duck out now, or wait for nightfall when the darkness will give you concealment and you can sneak?
Carinna Del'annerie
|
My vote would be to go now... waiting until it gets dark would mean more bandits to fight but far worse would be the fact that they would probably have already found our fake camp, released our two prisoners, and probably get the intel that we are lurking around.
Telmarni
Hm, this is a situation. I guess going in now is a good idea, but we only managed to get a couple people to head towards the fake camp. That means most of the bandits are awake, and active now. They know something is amiss without the two we captured not returning. But I'm not totally sure though.
Korinne Bryden
Actually, they probably wouldn't know that anything is amiss just yet. It's probably not taken long from the time our two hunters left the fort to the present moment; maybe an hour at the most? I'd say they'll probably start wondering if anything is amiss once the sun starts to set.
Carinna does have a point; I'd forgotten that we just kinda tied our prisoners up and stashed them somewhere out of immediate sight but still near the fake camp. In light of that, going now or pretty soon might actually be the better idea.
Cassandra Lupin
Mind if I try something cool? Was thinking about making a noise to get one of the guys to come over then pulling him in. The disappearing guardtrick. Might have to rule of cool the whole thing, roll a grapple and hope it works.
Kavalina Norreiys
Wait until night fall. If they find them, just means they are more scared. They'd be looking in the wrong direction. Perfect for a sneak attack.
DM Jesse Heinig
Clock is ticking. I always encourage PCs to try cool things, though.
DM Jesse Heinig
I don't want to get the current scene bogged down into a meta-discussion of the ethics of executing mentally disabled criminals, so probably the thing to do for now is to get as much info as you can from Auchs (for what it's worth), then incapacitate him and figure out what to do with all of the Stag Lord's surviving men after you have your inevitable confrontation with the forces of the fort (assuming you survive... no pressure).
