Great job! That leaves us with how we're going to split ze loots. The half-plate gives 8 AC, but the +1 chainmail evens out to a +8 (because of +1 dex) as well for Armithia. Obviously, the chainmail only rocks a -4 ACP versus the half-plate's -6, but costs some 550gp more (when taking into account how we 'split' the loot with the town).

The +1 longsword would be useful for Kardas, but if we need the other bits of loot more, it is a possibility to sacrifice it. Giving the mace to the town would probably sort out the split immediately as it is worth over 8k.

Alrighty...worked out a tentative split with the folks in New Phlan. Everything I highlighted in yellow I'm proposing we offer as the 50%. That has us keeping:

Your reverence for a deity is so great that daily prayer and minor sacrifices grant you special boons.

Prerequisites: Knowledge (religion) 3 ranks, must worship a deity.

Benefit: Each deity requires a different daily obedience, but all obediences take no more than 1 hour per day to perform. Once you’ve performed the obedience, you gain the benefit of a special ability or resistance as indicated in the Obedience entry for the god to whom you performed the obedience.

If you have at least 12 Hit Dice, you also gain the first boon granted by your deity upon undertaking your obedience. If you have at least 16 Hit Dice, you also gain the second boon. If you have 20 Hit Dice or more, you also gain the third boon. Unless a specific duration or number of uses per day is listed, a boon’s effects are constant.

If you have levels in the evangelist, exalted, or sentinel prestige classes (Inner Sea Gods 198–203), you gain access to these boons at lower levels as a benefit of your prestige class. If you have no levels in one of these prestige classes, you gain the boons marked as exalted boons. If you later take levels in sentinel or evangelist, you lose access to the exalted boons and gain access to the new boons appropriate to your class.

If you ever fail to perform a daily obedience, you lose all access to the benefits and boons granted by this feat until you next perform the obedience.

You forgot a few things... belt buckles, more wine, the key and the horn, the silver spoons, and the map of Phlan (which we should keep). Check the list under "equipment" on my alias. I wrote things down as I picked them up.

If the key always accesses extradimensional space, we should keep that as well. Not sure the horn is still useful for anything, but might be worth a lot? We need to identify stuff.

Probably Iomadae although there isn't really a Golorion equivalent of Helm that I'm aware of. Certainly her obedience is reasonable unlike Irori's.

Ishta doesn't want anything from the actual loot. If we happen to find someone that sells or crafts magic items, then that's a different thing, but for now she's fine.

After a night of rest I will be able to cast Identify and secure those Spellcraft rolls. At 5th level I'll be able to change prepared spells on the fly! Yay!

Every major deity boasts champions of some type, whether they are paladins sworn to Iomedae or barbarians who channel their destructive rage from Rovagug. The sentinel is a warrior who receives special powers in exchange for his service to a deity, and often serves as a guard for the deity’s clergy. Some undergo official training, others experience visions leading them to their path, and some simply make the decision to pledge their lives to upholding their faith.

Sentinels frequently clash with enemies of their deity or champions of rival faiths, and occasionally work with other sentinels to undertake great quests or overcome challenging obstacles. Some inspire unique warrior orders dedicated to their faith, and legendary champions of the faith are often sentinels.
Requirements
To qualify to become a sentinel, a character must fulfill all of the following criteria.

Alignment: Within one step of chosen deity.
Deity: Must worship a single, specific deity.
Feats: Deific Obedience, Weapon Focus (deity’s favored weapon).
Special: Base attack bonus +5 or higher.
Class Skills
The Sentinel's class skills are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Perception (Wis), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str).

The following are class features of the sentinel prestige class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Sentinels are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields).

Obedience (Ex): In order to maintain the abilities granted by this prestige class, a sentinel must perform a daily obedience to his chosen deity (see page 10).

Symbolic Weapon (Su): When wielding his deity’s favored weapon, the sentinel gains a +1 sacred or profane bonus on attack and damage rolls. These bonuses increase by 1 for every 3 levels he has in the sentinel prestige class (maximum +4). His deity’s favored weapon also functions as a holy (or unholy) symbol when wielded by a sentinel.

Bonus Feat: At 2nd level and again at 7th level, the sentinel gains a bonus feat in addition to those gained from normal advancement. These bonus feats must be selected from those listed as combat feats. Sentinel levels stack with f ighter levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats with a f ighter level prerequisite. If the bonus feat selected requires the sentinel to select a specif ic weapon for the feat to apply to (such as Greater Weapon Focus), the sentinel must select his deity’s favored weapon.

Divine Boon: As the sentinel gains levels, he gains boons from his chosen deity. The nature of these boons varies depending on the sentinel’s chosen deity. Each deity grants three boons, each more powerful than the last. At 3rd level, the sentinel gains the f irst boon. At 6th level, he gains the second boon, and at 9th level, he gains the third boon. Consult the Deific Obedience feat on page 210 and the core deity descriptions in Chapter 1 for details on these divine boons. When a divine boon grants a spell-like ability, the sentinel’s caster level for the spell-like ability equals his total character level. This ability allows a sentinel to access these boons earlier than with the Deif ic Obedience feat alone; it does not grant additional uses of the boons once the character reaches the necessary Hit Dice to earn the boons normally.

Divine Quickness (Ex): Starting at 4th level, so long as the sentinel carries his deity’s favored weapon, he gains a +2 sacred or profane bonus on initiative checks. The weapon doesn’t need to be carried in hand, but must at least be on his person and accessible enough that he can wield it with no greater than a move action. At 8th level, this bonus increases to +4.

Aligned Strike (Su): The sentinel’s righteous fervor allows him to cut through certain types of damage reduction. At 5th level, the sentinel gains the ability to bypass a specific type of damage reduction when wielding his deity’s favored weapon. The type of damage reduction his weapon bypasses is based on his chosen deity’s alignment. The sentinel chooses this type of damage reduction when he gains this ability and this choice can’t be changed. He can choose only one of the aligned weapon types regardless of how many options he has based on his deity’s alignment. For example, a sentinel of Iomedae can treat his weapon as axiomatic or holy, but not both. The choices are as follows.

Lawful: The sentinel can treat his weapon as axiomatic if his deity is lawful.
Chaotic: The sentinel can treat his weapon as anarchic if his deity is chaotic.
Good: The sentinel can treat his weapon as holy if his deity is good.
Evil: The sentinel can treat his weapon as unholy if his deity is evil.
Neutral: The sentinel can choose one of the four other weapon alignment types if his deity is neutral.

Stalwart (Su): At 5th level, the sentinel gains mental fortitude through his constant meditation and adherence to religious tenets. He gains a +2 sacred or profane bonus on saving throws to resist divine spells.

Practiced Combatant (Ex): At 7th level, the sentinel displays increased combat ability thanks to his extensive training and experience. He gains a +2 sacred or profane bonus on combat maneuvers he performs with his deity’s favored weapon.

Righteous Leader (Ex): At 8th level, the sentinel’s commitment to his faith and the deeds he does in the name of his god add to his reputation. He gains Leadership as a bonus feat, and is considered to qualify for that feat’s special power leadership modifier. He takes no penalty for moving around a lot (normally this imposes a –1 penalty to a character’s leadership score) but he takes double the usual penalty for recruiting a cohort of a different alignment (–2 instead of –1).

Unstoppable Warrior (Su): At 10th level, the sentinel becomes a stalwart paragon demonstrating incredible combat prowess. He gains damage reduction based on the alignment of his deity, as shown in the table.

In addition, the sentinel no longer falls unconscious when reduced to a negative hit point total, though he can take only a single standard or move action while at negative hit points, and he continues to lose hit points normally if he is not stabilized. Taking standard actions after becoming stable causes the sentinel’s wounds to reopen, and he begins losing hit points normally again.

Once per day as a swift action, the sentinel can use cure critical wounds, but targeting only himself, with a caster level equal to his character level.

At this stage, with our budget, probably things like scrolls or a cloak of resistance. Later on, when we're richer, probably spell runes or metamagic rods.

Sure Ser Armithia, I have no problem with that. Ishta items up to 2000 gp should be available to buy. Depending on party preferences we can RP this (which makes the price somewhat more subject to negotiation) or hand wave it. The search for family ties sounds good to me.

Gosh, it took way too long to update to level 3, but New Years and the busy days after plus the fact some of the rules were a little convoluted took its toll. Anyways, here goes:

I've looked up the Battle Form ability and by RAI it would get a +8 STR bonus due to changing size from tiny to medium, but the author has indicated it should use the polymorph table which would grand it a much more modest +4 STR bonus. Add in the +2 granted by the ability itself and the scaling STR bonus, this would give the familiar a total of +7 STR when in Battle Form. Much more sensible, I'd say.

Okay, lets cast our votes here, if you want, but let's do it quickly as the GM asked.

My main reason to take the mission at hand is that, without metagaming knowledge, our PCs don't know there will be a mission to take if we skip this one. So I vote for taking it. But I, as a player, don't really care because I don't know what the other one will be about. We might even like it less!

I think that they are just set up so that we do them all. The Black Watch one probably either wasn't in the storyline, or else it was something we missed because we stayed too long on the island. Either way, might as well do it. I don't think it is an either-or proposition, or open-ended adventure like I was thinking of it before.

However, with regard to metagaming... of course they know there will be another mission. The whole freaking town has to be retaken, right? And they already have leads on other places in town that need to be cleared out.

We'll I'm not sure that's true, perhaps I haven't explained things properly. There are various adventuring companies attracted to Phlan, The Blackwatch being one. The council want to retake all of Phlan and for the most part they don't care who does the dirty work (kinda, some of the Councillors have favourites). Your characters would be aware of all that.

The conceit of the module is you could do all of the missions but this is a sandbox and things will adapt if you don't for some reason. Generally the missions are of increasing difficulty and if you miss a bunch you'll need to level up somehow or I'll adjust the difficulty level of what your facing.

  • Bardic Performances per day up to 16
  • +6 HP (half plus one plus one for con... is that correct?)
  • Gain Wordstrike ability (Wordstrike (Su): At 3rd level, the sound striker bard can spend 1 round of bardic performance as a standard action to direct a burst of sonically charged words at a creature or object. This performance deals 1d4 points of damage plus the bard’s level to an object, or half this damage to a living creature.)
  • Up to +2 BAB and get a base of +1 on Fort saves (BAB also raises CMB, CMD, and attacks)
  • Get to add one zero level and one first level spell to my list, and am able to cast one more first level spell per day. (Added Message and Summon Minor Monster. I thought about unnatural lust because it might be funnier, but I decided that probably isn't Azarra's style.)
  • Feat: Precise shot, which makes it so Azarra can do more in combat now, hopefully.

Skill points went up to 27, added to skills I already had, and put new ranks in Disable Device (not good, but at least I can try it now), Knowledge local, and Knowledge Engineering. (Bigger boosts there because they are class skills.)

I think that is all. Update the header row of my character with the new skill totals. Let me know if I missed anything.

Yes, as I said ooc in gameplay thread, some scrolls that might help given a confrontation. Locate Object can be useful if we get precise descriptions of the items we need to retrieve, Glitterdust because it's way OP and Detect Secret Doors because we all know we're going to need it ;)

Hey guys, trying to figure out how much cash money we're gonna get, and we neglected to distribute the +1 Mithral Heavy Shield. I think Ser Armithia, once again, would gain the most benefit, but I wouldn't mind it, either.

I assigned a Potion of Cure Mod to Kardas, and one to Ser Armithia. I kept the map and the key with Azarra, the former for its potential utility, the latter because it has no monetary value at the moment.

If everyone agrees, we'll then receive 613 gp, 2 sp, and 3 cp each for the sale of the remaining loot.

I'm fine carrying around whatever, but I can't use Detect Secret Doors as it isn't on the Magus spell list. I know, right?! Why can't we get some Divination love :'( so it is probably best if you and or Azarra have it on you.

Which leaves me with roughly 843gp to spend. I could save up a bit more and spend it on a Cloak of Resistance or +1 Armor *or* I could try and get a Wand of Shield right now. Hrm, decisions!
