Faction: Grand Lodge
Progression: normal
Day Job Roll: profession scribe: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Notes: Unchained monk with Dragon Style and Flying Kick. Fairly mobile, AC 30 including mage armor and barkskin. Dmg is medium per hit but he can bypass a lot of DRs. And he has greater grapple if facing 1 enemy.
My Wizard 11 is pure Fireball cheese. A walking tac-nuke. Not the most fun to play with but if you are doing a Drowning Pool style dungeon crawl he is handy to have along.

Character's Name: Brutus
PFS #: 10774-12
Faction: Grand Lodge
Progression: Normal
Day Job Roll: None

Character's Name: Grimaldus
PFS #: 83583-2
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Progression: Normal
Day Job Roll: Craft (weapons): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Notes: If we get into cold /freezing weather, Grim has the following boon:
Blessing of Malikeen: You may activate this statuette of a yeti cradling a child as a standard action to gain the effects of an endure elements spell against cold only, and to treat your altitude zone as one category lower. These benefits last to the end of the scenario.
Also have Horn of Aroden: You recovered the Horn of Aroden, a relic once used to bolster the forces of good and defeat Deskari’s minions. It is powerless now, but may be useful in Mendev’s fight against the Worldwound.

![]() |

I knew something was bugging me about the wand of Endure Elements. Rocky bought one last time I played and it still has 45 charges. So we are fine for the weather. The cold anyway.

I'm currently without a reliable connection to the internet and can't really keep up with the game. Bot me as needed please. Everything should return to normal in a couple of days most.
In the meantime bear with me, and sorry for the inconvenience!

![]() |

Posting this in all my games: My father passed away a couple days ago. I’m going to be occupied helping my siblings make the usual arrangements and get his estate in order. I apologize for the absence. Please bot me as needed. If this is a game I’m GMing, just hang tight and I’ll catch up with everything when I can.

GM ElanMorin –
Wanted to raise an issue that I’m not sure how to resolve in a PbP format. Chabon is built as a counterspeller. He’s got 3 exploits dedicated to it. So, just wondering how to proceed since I have to ID the spell as it is being cast and then make a decision if I am going to counter, then make the check. I don’t want to slow down the game, but I’d like to use this ability since we are chasing some casters and I imagine I’ll have the opportunity.
Here are the details on counterspelling:
By expending 1 point from her arcane reservoir, the arcanist can attempt to counter a spell as it is being cast. She must identify the spell being cast as normal. If she successfully does so, the arcanist can attempt to counter the spell as an immediate action and by expending an available arcanist spell slot of a level at least one higher than the level of the spell being cast. To counterspell, the arcanist must attempt a dispel check as if using dispel magic. If the spell being countered is one that the arcanist has prepared, she can instead expend an available arcanist spell slot of the same level, and she receives a +5 bonus on the dispel check. Counterspelling in this way does not trigger any feats or other abilities that normally occur when a spellcaster successfully counters a spell.
Greater counter = Whenever the arcanist uses the counterspell exploit, she can expend any arcanist spell slot of the same level or greater than the spell to be countered (instead of the spell level +1).
(1d20 + my caster level = 11) vs. DC = 11 + the spell’s caster level
Whenever the arcanist successfully uses the counterspell exploit, she regains a number of points to her arcane reservoir, which is determined by the level of the spell countered. Spells of 2nd level or lower do not restore any points to her arcane reservoir. Spells of 3rd and higher restore 1 point to her arcane reservoir for every three spell levels (rounded down), to a maximum of 3 points at 9th level. The arcanist must have the counterspell exploit to select this exploit.
So maybe when adversary casts, you roll a spellcraft check for me (dice=Chabon spellcraft]d20+20[/dice]), although I auto ID anything 6th lvl or less, and if I pass put it in a spoiler and then I can say if I counter and roll the check? I’m open to other plans.

![]() |

Bear in mind you may not auto identify the spell, spellcraft checks to ID are subject to the same range penalties as perception checks (-1 per 10').

![]() |

Let me think about it. As of right now I'd probably tell you to roll spellcraft in advance when you intend to counterspell and I'll tell yopu if you suceed or not.

![]() |

Grim just summoned a bearded devil and I took the liberty of moving/attacking with him on my turn. If that needs to be held, no problem =)
It is the red creature 10' to the right of the dwarf on the map...

![]() |

As I asked you in game, have you got an ability that allows you to cast summon monster spells as standard actions instead than full round actions? If not, you moved and then prepared to cast, unless you want to use that standard action to do something else.
If you have an ability that reduces summon monster casting time (like a summoner's for example) then we'll proceed as you wrote.

![]() |

no battle can have too many dinosaurs in it.
So true, especially when fighting in a demon-infested hellscape.

![]() |

Just a heads up that I am headed out of town starting Friday am through Monday night, so I'll be afk. I'll get some bot instructions up on my character profile.

![]() |

Feel better Terramor!
GM, I know you can't know for certain, but do you think it's likely we'll be done in time for the start of GameDay on Aug 13th?

![]() |

@Terramor:Best wishes!
@Chabon: yes, I think so. I'm sorry for this last couple of days but work just went crazy and I could not bring myself to make any complex posting on the borads after that.

![]() |

No worries, hope you're having a relaxing weekend!
Speaking of which, I'm headed off for vacation, but should have internet and my computer so you shouldn't detect any difference - but if I'm slow to respond, that's why and feel free to bot to keep things moving.

![]() |

FYI - a combination of pneumonia and moving house means I'll be offline for most the week. And the week after that (if alive) I'll be at GenCon.

![]() |

Just wanted to say I really appreciate GM Elanmorin's ability to deal with all the high level shenanigans going on in the combat updates. I'm new to PbP, but I can see how with a less organized GM it could be a real mess.

![]() |

I think we are just waiting on Terramor? Perhaps still recovering from GenCon.

![]() |

Oy vey.
Let me tell you what's going on with me. First, I'm not dead nor fading away. However, after a week of illness and a week of reasonably ill vacationing, I'm now stranded without access to the Internet (I'm writing this from my mother's house, which is definitely not a long-term solution).
Then, the team of electricians who were going to wire my house were in an automobile accident and several were injured. So still no Internet.
Other electricians are coming to wire my house for the Internet and -hope- they can do it by next Friday.
Trying to stay connected by iPad has proved too difficult when I can summon at most 1 or 2 bars at my house. Thus, I'm just going to be offline for a bit. I'm sorry, but now you know why.

![]() |

Quick note: in order for me to compile your CS faster I'd like to ask everyone to post here the amount of consumables (wand charges and the like) consumed during play. Thanks for the help in advance!

![]() |

Consumables used: 18 charges wand of Endure Elements, 2 charge wand of Shield. 3 charges wand of CLW, 1 scroll of Lesser Restoration.

![]() |

Awesome - thanks for running. Quick question: Chabon would have looked for Desimire's spellbook and would be interested in scribing some spells out of it, potentially. Wondering if they provide that info, or at least spells prepared to give an idea? Will figure out wands - been keeping track on my inventory sheet, but didn't note where the scenario checks started. Curious what other folks do to keep track? Haven't been asked this before.

![]() |

Looking back through posts, looks like 4 charges off my CLW wand.

![]() |

8 CLW wand charges for Brutus.

![]() |

Looks like 19 clw charges here. Please note Miguel will be spending 2pp and his downtime for his last check on the senatorial candidate boon. Miguel rides into the Taldan Senate on the back of Panza, in full Taldan battle dress, to take his seat in the Senate.

![]() |

@Chabon: Here's what Desmire's memorized spells were
6th — globe of invulnerability, summon monster VI, true seeing
5th — acidic sprayUM (DC 21), break enchantment (DC 20), cone of cold (DC 20), summon monster V, teleport
4th — black tentacles, enervation, fire shield, ice storm, summon monster IV
3rd — ash stormUM, fireball (2; DC 18), stinking cloud (DC 19), summon monster III
2nd — acid arrow (2), extended mage armor, glitterdust (DC 18), summon monster II, web (DC 18)
1st — burning hands (2; DC 16), corrosive touchUM, grease (2; DC 17), magic missile, summon monster I
0 (at will) — acid splash, dancing lights, detect magic, flare (DC 15)
Note that as far as I know in PFS the spells you can gain during play are turned into scrolls and placed into the CS among the items avaiable to you for completion. You cannot normally gain spells from another wizard's spellbook in PFS.

![]() |

Not my understanding as I’ve done it a few times, including when I defeated the first Desimire villain, but at this point in his careerI’m not worried about it. Same as when at a table w others with spell books, you still have make the check and pay the cost of scribing, but not purchasing scroll.
Thanks again for running. Was a fun group!
