The Giantslayer Adventure Path begins in the fortified town of Trunau in the southern part of the Hold of Belkzen. A series of strange events trouble the beleaguered town. At the town’s request, the PCs must uncover the source behind these events and step in to save the town from forces which seek an end to Trunau and it's peoples.

I think I posted early and my last post was for round 4. I would get a +2 to the attack for flanking in that case. Let me know if I need to do something else.


Brampton, I am not sure how to achieve both a charge and a flanking bonus in this situation. You would not have a direct lane of charge due to the hard corner of the building from your current position. To flank you would also need to end movement in a square two to the left of Adir, which I imagine would negate a charge as well, as you would be veering away from the direct lane of attack. Am I mistaken on either of these points?

Delia cries out in pain as the javelin pierces her flesh, she turns to see the Orc nearby and curses at her mistake. Luckily for her, Leira puts a crossbow bolt through its throat. Just then the massive explosion, followed by Jace's roar of pain draws her attention back towards the other two threats. She sees Jace stumble out from the collapsing wall. She then sees another of those explosive balls sparking right behind her warcat. "Jace, come!" she shouts over the din of battle and coughs up some blood... The javelin must have caused some internal bleeding...

As Jace rushes back towards to safety, Delia draws the healing wand from her bandolier and taps herself with it. She prepares to dish out some of the healing to her feline friend following that...

You are correct about the charge. I can flank if I stop two squares to the left of the orc since I have reach but I am not sure I have enough movement points to get that far from my current location. If I don't then I will just move to that square and wait for next round to attack and provide flanking for Adir if he attacks the orc.

Songan moves up to the others, still watchful of the orc who fled back into the building. He fires off an arrow at the orc closest to Jace, Staggering it as the arrow lodges firmly in the warrior's gut.

Brampton rushes out from around the building, calling for Adir to stand fast. The young soldier moves into a position near to the orc warrior and giant pressing at the druid, noticing Tuzak down on the ground by the man. Flanking bonus applies for the orc

Dundin follows up the catfolk's arrow with a hammer toss of his own, catching the orc a grazing shot to the forehead which whips it backwards, nearly snapping the beast's neck.

Delia heals herself a moment from the attack by the retreating orc, calling for Jace to return to her side. The beast does, trampling over the orb still laying by his side. The cat stops but a moment, back legs scratching at the ground as it kicks the sparking orb back at the orcs, much as it recalled Dundin doing earlier at the barricade. The cat then resumes it's run back to it's mistress.

Orc Warriors 1 and 2 attempt to react to the sudden reversal of the fuse grenade, jumping back as the thing lands at their feet. Orc Warrior 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 is too wounded by his injuries to clear the blast and takes the full Fire: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 and Concussive Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6) + 1 = 8, his body blown apart from the destructive forces.

Orc Warrior 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 was too shocked to move, likewise taking the full effect of the blast, but manages to weather the wave and remain on his feet. Angered, he Charges: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 after Jace, drawing his falchion and cleaving hard at the cat. His injuries however do not allow him to live up to his bravado, and the strike is too weak, too soon, and too short to reach the feline.

Anxious for her friends heading towards the giant, Leira forgets about her own injuries and rushes to turn around the building corner.

Her eyes open wide at the sight of poor Adir surrounded by enemies and only helped by the brave Brampton. Looking for the last tiny bits of his inner magic, the girl emits a concentrated arcane shout at the cave giant "Noooooo! Adir! For Trunau, you will fell gigantic creature!!!"
Ear-piercing scream (sonic damage): 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) + 3 = 11
Fort DC 16 halves the damage and negates the 1 round daze effect

I cast Ear-Piercing Scream over the giant, taking profit of my caster level bonuses (+1 from mage's tattoo, +2 from Spell specialization) to cast it as a level 6 sorcerer.
I hope I have not made any mistake on the math, but that will give me 40' range which I understand is just enough to hit the giant from my new position, and 3d6 damage instead of 1.

If this does not work:

Leira reloads her crossbow after moving around the corner.

With that it ends my daily spell allotment

Leira, the rubble areas count as double movement. Is there anything different you would like to try or keep the move and reload?

Leira moves after Brampton, loading her crossbow as she goes. Rounding the corner she gets her first close glimpse of the cave giant. The beast is apparently lost in a rage, lashing out at everyone and everything around him. His roars are deafening, his madness destructive. In the midst of it stands Adir, still protecting his fallen companion.

We have not heard from Adir in nearly a week. While policy is to have his character take Total Defense, I feel the group would suffer if this occurs. With apologies, I will break policy this once to allow him to react and defend himself and Tuzak.

Adir looks to the giant, then to the orc, and without thinking he ducks away from the giant's flailing chains and stabs out with his Spear: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12, distracting the orc but failing to score a telling blow.

Orc Warrior 3 is not able to control his panic in the face of the raging giant, and moves to flee from the beast. The giant lashes out once with it's Chains: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19, catching the orc in the leg and crushing it for Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11. The orc Staggers from the blow and limps away, moving towards his fellows, calling to them for help.

Orc Warrior 4 does something unseen within the building.

Orc Warrior 5 controls himself in face of his adversaries and the giant, calling out to the beast Gronk , sakin ol. Bize bunları. Değil öldürün. He stabs out at Adir, his double axe whips about first High: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 then Low: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 but does not pass close enough to connect against the druid. His attacks work in tandem as he moves away from Brampton, positioning his back to the pond, giving himself a small bit of security.

The cave giant, ignoring the commands of the orc, roars and stamps, bellowing at the top of his lungs Gronk galen. Gronk ont. Gronk trott.

Brampton presses the attack on the orc to try and give Adir a clear path to escape.

"Adir get into the house! Get away from those chains!"

Brampton looks at the giant and points towards the gate and shouts. "Gronk go. Gronk be free."

Brampton does not speak giant but from what Brampton heard he is guessing that the giants name is Gronk. The chains seem to indicate that he is a slave so Brampton is trying to act like his savior by killing the bad orc slavers. Or in his rage state he will just kill me. I thought it would be worth a try.

Grand Lodge

Seeing that the others seem to have the more immediate threat of Orc Warrior 2 well in hand, Songan turns his bow to the next target in line; even a staggered orc can be a threat, so he fires at Orc Warrior 3, hoping to end the danger he poses more permanently. Again a strange feeling of supernatural luck overcomes him just as he releases the bowstring.

Swift action to use Archaeologist's Luck. 2/5 uses remaining.

Leira knows both Orc and Giant, just in case there is something going on with the giant that can be used in our advantage


As Delia uses the wand a second time to heal her burns and bolt wounds Jace lashes out at the orc before him, venting his pain and rage with a vicious claw strike to the warrior's leg. The blow is not enough to kill him even as it rends a large chunk of muscle and tendon from it's thigh but it does serve to distract him from Dundin's approach.

The dwarf's captured blade swings strong and true, hewing through muscle, tendon, and spine to send the orc's head bouncing across the rough ground, ending it's threat as Orc Warrior 3 looks on in shock.

Songan capitalizes on the other orc's delay and fires an arrow into the warrior's forearm, just in case the orc has another one of those strange grenades. The shot wakes the orc from his stupor but is not enough to kill it. Still staggering, it leans against the ruined building for support.

Brampton moves up and smashes his small hammerhead down upon Orc Warrior 5, the blow nearly taking the creature to it's knees. The orc Staggers but does not fall, still weakly holding onto it's blades and mumbling to the giant, inaudible due to the sharp pains radiating from the orc's temples, blood seeping down from under it's helmet.

She then steps closer to the Brandon and shots her crossbow at the orc still standing.

Initiative Changes Below

Both Leira and Adir find their attacks coming up short against the orcish giant handler. Though staggered and bleeding out, the warrior remains on his feet, attempting to fend them off and regain control over his beast. I moved Leira 5' so she could fire and still reload in the same round. I was not sure of her intent by the post.

Orc Warrior 3 realizes he is too badly injured to take on your band alone, and ducks back around the corner of the building, fumbling with something on his belt.

Orc Warrior 4 rushes out of the building and attempts to strike Delia before she can defend herself, swinging his Orcish Double Axe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 but the huntress sidesteps the clumsy blade.

Orc Warrior 5 steps back from his aggressors, into the shallows of the pond. He takes a small potion bottle from his belt, intending upon drinking it. As he raises it to his lips he hears the giant ranting Gronk inte gratis. Gronk slav. Gronk inte fri levande. Gronk gratis död. Gronk gratis när alla döda. Die alla. Var fri.

The giant swings his chains out as he rants, responding to what he perceives as threats AoO. A chain whips out near Adir and smashes into the side of the building where the druid once stood. No AoO but for effect The second lashes out at Orc Warrior 5, the chain: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26, doubling the orc over for Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10. The orc collapses into the gentle surf, face down, unmoving. The giant continues his ranting, growing winded, sweat streaming down his filthy frame in dirty muddy rivulets.

Dundin charges to attack the orc charge to square above 3 , following him around the corner.

He strikes a brutal blow. He sees the cave giant and, after seeing the brutal massacre of his clan played over in his mind in vivid colors and sounds again, feels a hard core of Vengeance expanding inside him, as if another heart was fueling him with cold, hard purpose whike the original pumped blood.

He gasps one dwarven word

"Giant!!"


As Dundin approaches within 10 feet of the orc he triggers the creature's ready action, as an Alchemist's Fire: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 smashes against his chest, bursting for Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1, much of the fluids not yet igniting on the dwarf's clothes and armor. The dwarf completes his charge and kills the orc, causing him to release the other vial he held, dropping: 1d20 ⇒ 16 and bursting upon the ground, splashing Dundin for another 1 point of Fire Damage while engulfing the orc's remains in flames.

"The giant wants to destroy all of us in order to be free, orcs included!" speaks up Leira very worried "I fear we will have to face him or he can cause havoc in Trunau"

The girl 5 foot steps diagonally just in front of Brampton, and understanding the unbearable threat that poses the giant, she draws her tanglefoot bag and throws it at the large humanoid with all her aim.

Entangled if it hits the touch AC, and Ref 15 to not get stuck at place.

Adir moves back towards the giant after feeling the woosh of the chains over his head. He grimly chuckles at Leira's statement. Havoc feels like an understatement. And we need to get in that tunnel. He thrusts at the giant with his short spear.

Songan, unable to see to make any attack against the giant he hears all the shouting and commotion about, forgoes any attack to get between the buildings in front of him, hoping to finally bring the thing into sight.

Delia ducks beneath the orc's axe as it suddenly rushes out towards her; she quickly takes a step back from the rampaging orc and stashes her healing wand! In a blink of an eye, she draws an arrow, puts it to the string, and fires it into the orc standing directly in front of her! "Jace! Kill!" She screams a little more shrilly than she had intended. The warcat spins around and sees the orc, he moves forward into the space just recently occupied by Delia and tears into the orcs with a reckless frenzy!

Holy crap... I rolled a Nat 1 on my reading comprehension... I will edit my previous post... Post has been edited. I will make a better effort to pay closer attention to the posts. Sorry about that.


No worries Delia, just didn't want to see you and Jace end up on the wrong end of the double axe.

Dundin, flames beginning to sputter into life around him, pauses a moment at the enormity of the giant, and his chance to take one on for himself.

Leira moves closer, dropping her crossbow as she retrieves and tosses her tanglefoot bag at the giant. Her aim holds true and the goo splatters across it's chest and shoulders. The giant reacts angrily at the goo and the girl, her words of kindness no better than the harsh words of the dead orcs. The giant Reflex Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 fails to escape the adhesive resins and finds itself cemented in place, faced with more liars and creatures out only to harm him.

To prove this, Brampton moves up and through a combination of luck and the hardening, limiting muck he manages to pierce the giant's hide deeply with his bec, drawing a howl of pain and frustration from the giant.

Adir then moves closer, ducking the swinging chains, and stabs at the giant as well, only to have his strike deflected by the hardening goo Leira tossed, the spear tip failing to reach the muscles trapped beneath.

Meanwhile, Songan races past Dundin, oblivious to the rising flames as well, staring in a moment of shock and awe at the raging giant before him. Big, really big.

Lastly, Delia jumps back from the lone remaining orc who attempted to ambush and assault her, planting an arrow in it's chest even as Jace heeds her call, pouncing forward in her place to rake at bite at the warrior, ripping it's throat open and spraying the pair in it's dying life's blood.

The giant swings out at both Adir and Brampton, spending the last of his pent up rage upon the pair. The giant swings a Meaty Fist: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 aimed for the druid, nearly crushing his chest for Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 with the force of the blow. The giant then turns towards his other tormentor, sending a Heavy Chain: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 whipping around towards the young soldier, who ducks closely out of the way at the last. The giant gasps and coughs as his rage seems to flee him, fatigue setting in from his heavy exertions.

Trapped and alone, the beast almost seems resigned that at the end, he will be free of all the horrors he has endured, his scarred and bleeding body slowly giving way to what is to come. His eyes however show he will give what he has left to make those who hurt him likewise suffer for it.

Delia rubs Jace's head as they bring down the orc together; however, she looks towards the south and sees the others looking towards the Hopespring and where she believes the giant is likely still wrecking all sorts of havoc... She nods to Jace and follows behind her other companions as they rush towards the sound of battle!

Songan stares at the giant, noting it's size, strength and marveling at the scars crisscrossing it's hairy frame. He forgets himself for the moment and stands dumbfound while the others race past.

Delia and Jace skid to a halt within feet of the beast struggling to break itself free of the hardening goo Leira heaped upon it. The warcat howls a challenge as Delia raises her bow, looking for an opening which would provide the most chance of felling the beast.

Dundin rushes up and tosses his last hammer at the beast, the missile failing to land as the creature lurches about from the sticky goo.

Brampton lunges in, smacking the giant along the brow a blow that is not as nearly devastating as was hoped, the creature too thick skulled or dim witted to know it should be in pain.

Leira attempts to hit the creature with a crossbow shot, but fearing for Brampton she tends to shoot high, missing just over the giant's shoulder. -4 for shooting into melee, -4 for Brampton, Tuzak & Adir providing cover for line of effect.

Adir steps closer and stabs out at the giant, scoring a jab to it's outer thigh. The pathetic giant roars out in pain and struggles against the adhesive goo, then gives up and simply lashes out with a stream of gibberish and expletives at everyone close at hand.

Seeing she has difficulties to not harm her allies, Leira steps diagonally just behind Brampton to have an uncovered shot at the southernmost part of the giant body.

"Argh! We cannot allow him to stand here. For Trunau!" yells the girl as she casts an acid splash cantrip at the giant hopping the contact with the acid will go through the giants thick skin.

Delia stops short as she stares up at the massive giant, a pit forming in her stomach... She'd fought orcs and their ilk before, even that troll, but a giant was different... It was so big! She shakes away the moment of dread as her companions attack, throwing caution to the wind. They still needed to get into that hole and stop whatever was going on in there! "Jace, kill!" The warcat steps forward and tears into the giant with tooth and claw! Delia follows up with an arrow aimed at the giant's head!

This round the giant would lash out at Dundin before he comes close with that ugly ax. Chains: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 Another miss

Unfortunately Dundin and Brandon both missed their strikes. Dundin would only face one round of burning from the alchemist's fire before the liquid burns off.

Leira hit with her touch spell, though the large stone counts as a hard corner square so she must still count the soft cover of launching past Brampton.

Songan passes around the catapult to get his clear shot and hits the giant as well.

Jace scores with a bite and claw while Delia misses with her shot.

Adir attempts to distract the giant away from Tuzak and the others, feinting and stabbing at the creature to little effect. His spear fails to make a connection and is twice nearly snapped as the beast thrashes about, though it's wounds are clearly beginning to have an effect, it's strength ebbing, sweat pouring down it's filthy hide, blood seeping from various cuts, scraps, and bruised gashes.

The giant lashes out with both meaty fists, it's foes too close for it to wield it's chains effectively. The First Left: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 swings backhandedly, aimed at Adir, while the Other Right: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 smashes downwards at Jace. The left misses while the right lands with a heavy thump across the warcat's muzzle for Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7.

Leira sighs relieved as the giant collapses letting a yell out of her lips "Yes!"

She hurries up to help Adir and congrats Brampton and Dundin "You saved us today guys"

When Brampton comments about going into the building, Leira nods in agreement but comments "I saw an orc heading inside the building before. I do not know if it might have already left"

"I am also very badly injured and need healing. Let's recover and head into that nasty hole they made. We still have to discover the truth behind this attack."
