It seems we are in a draw about continuing vs retreating.
My main point for continuing is we can't do much for Coen right now even if we retreat. We will need to cross Scrapwall back to the Clockwork temple on the best scenario case.
The risk of continuing is there, we could face a new wraith, or we could be targeted with a fireball. But usually Coen is not otherwise target of much damage, and the risk is always there for any of us who could receive a critical hit with a power attack axe. I can only foresee a couple more rooms in this map, and the wraith was most probably the biggest challenge here. I believe the risk is low and coming back to find a couple of almost empty rooms would feel rare.
From a narrative point of view I see no point on retreating. From a game perspective I do not want to bog the campaign down to hold on this decision, if Fireday and Kaska are not convinced after Coen assumed the risk himself, I will force Holg to drop the epic and look for the way back to the temple.

1. You may note Coen doesn't talk to Kaska much unless forced since way back when she called him a soft bodied boy who stands in the back and waves his hand around. This is good ongoing stuff.
2. Brainiac: Does Glitterdust work on incorporeal creatures here? RAW seems to indicate it does, but no objections if you DM rule against it. (What with it being conjuration. Then again works because "magic" is fine for me as well.) I don't think we've done this one before.

Not that Holg would like to run from this fight, but being on the "frightened" condition, and seeing an explosion, I guess he would have to run away from that danger.
This is probably going to be a shock and personal comedown for him for a time.
I will be leaving for a family vacation tomorrow to Lake Geneva, WI, the birthplace of D&D! While I will have internet access for the five days of the trip, posting will most likely be phone-based and therefore sporadic and laconic.

Sorry about the gap, I am freshly back from my trip to LA and am now situated at a working computer instead of my currently broken laptop. I'll post once I catch up.
I apologize if I've misread what Coen and Kaska are saying here. One advantage of playing a naive character who has trouble reading the room is that gaffes like that are in character, I guess.
@Fireday: In part maybe. Kaska's comment was specifically a reply to Holg's comment. The very shorthand version of her objection is this: if strength is the only measure of value, and it can only validly be demonstrated through destruction, then Rovagug is right and the most valuable being. Rovagug can destroy the entire universe in spectacular fashion, would be correct to do so as a demonstration of greatest intrinsic value, and we along with literally everything are f#!*ed. :)

No reason to apologize. I admit Coen was being a bit vague about his distress. I just thought the explosion of an ancient relic that no one ever got to study wouldn't have gone by without comment by him, and he really does hate this city and the whole thing for weirdly similar reasons for why he doesn't like Taldan culture either.
I haven't overdone it with the replies, have I? Fireday's main purpose when I created him was to explore Iron God's themes, ideas and narrative questions, and I feel this conversation was a good opportunity to do so!
I'm hesitant to make a post reacting to Holg's...bold...actions. While Fireday is mad about the Lords of Rust, I imagine even he'd see what Holg's doing as reckless, and I imagine the rest of the group shares that sentiment.

Well, if we wait for the arena to be full of people we are going to have a terrible time out there :P
Nevertheless Holg is way reckless. He is also way short-minded, to place it somehow not offensive, so it shall be easy to convince him he made a misinterpretation of what the group came here to do :D
Also note we were told to join the arena to face the troll in particular and no other of the Lords.
It accounts for confronting Helskarg early. It's an easier fight since she's caught off guard and doesn't have allies, but you get less of a scrapworth boost since it isn't in front of a packed arena.
Going to bed now, will get a gameplay post up in the morning.
But doesn't that just make US the new social hierarchs by default? :P
In all seriousness, though, I'm surprised. I thought there'd be more stuff we'd need to do before entering the final dungeon of this episode, like pick off the other Lords of Rust before we'd have access to Hellion's lair.
In case it helps interpret some of Kaska's statements and thoughts, imagine her affect as being about the same as April Ludgate's on Parks and Recreation.

The rest of the week will be fairly complicated for me for what posting concerns.
Please bot Holg as it better fits. Unless something else is needed that he can deliver, he will mainly behave as you have seen so far, rushing to open doors and engage enemies with his sword, resorting to healing when needed, preferring to do it once the combat is done.

We have barely used any resource for the day, we only had the troll fight so far.
Healing should be no problem. Holg has 2 of 5 channels remaining, a wand with 49 charges for light wounds, and 83% of his spells, which can all be transformed into healing. Retreating now will hardly help him have more healing ;)
I also don't have most of my buff spells since I was expecting a big battle at the radar dish. I'm going to struggle to be useful in future fights if we proceed, and that could get us killed.
How about a split decision? We don't know how large an area is behind the door. We could take a peek now to get an idea of what we're dealing with in there, then go back to rest. We don't have to commit to clearing the place if we open the door, and we'd have a better understanding of what's to come.
