I can just see a trap going off behind us and the drag litter getting caught on the other side from Qhude. ;P
I'm honestly not sure that Ansha really needs to be carrying more scrolls with her, and she'd only be able to scribe one scroll per day anyway.
But maybe Ansha can cheat Qhude out of 350gp at dice or cards. ;P I mean, he does have an 8 WIS.

Which would likely mean a split party too though... considering it'll probably be Kieran and Qhude on point and Ansha back from anything stabby... so at least you'd keep said food.
Cheating the emotionally unstable and violent man out of money isn't a very good plan... how about you y'know.. maybe apologize or ask nicely instead?

Advanced warning that your friendly neighborhood rage and self-mutilation junkie will be on vacation starting 27th June all the way through to 17th July. We will be taking our first big ol' vacation in six years and swanning off to Hawaii (both Kauai and Oahu). Our first trip to the US, and despite needing about 16 hours in a plane to get there - we are still super excited :)
However since we'll be travelling with only an i-pad for computer support both my predeliction for sesquipedalian loquaciousness and the relative alacrity and frequency of posts shall suffer most terribly during that time. So in essence Qhude will be relatively inactive while I'm off sinking deep into Kalua pig, malasadas and loco moco. Fear not for I shall return fully recharged and reinforced for the onward push onwards upwards and inwards to the ziggurat.
If in the case that DMPC or PCPC will be required, Qhude's responses will tend to follow the following logic:
1) Lash out in petulant anger while feeling depressed.
2) Glare with barely restrained nascent agression at all and sundry.
3) Whatever Tebati tells him to do.

You get a revelation at 3rd, so you should be able to get a bonded mount at 3rd. 4th is only if you're a Small oracle who wants a boar or dog for a mount.meant a mount will not be all that useful as we go Up-Up the Ziggurat. But AK was kind enough to let me swap out the horse.
Sticking w/friend to animals for the revelation and going with Lightning reflexes for the feat in place of Extra Revelation (bonded mount).
Also sorry for going silent. Work ramped up. Have my head around it now. Catching up.....

Pity Jakob didn't go with the horse... would've done for a lot of rations in a pinch ;)
Two weeks should be more than ample to figure out whatever we're going to figure out. If it takes longer than that then we're likely proper buggered anyway.

Joana |

That's 84 pounds of rations, if my math's right. Can we split that up without encumbering anyone? (If not, what about a pack goat?) Tebati has 6 pounds of leeway.
Good news is, the burden gets 6 pounds lighter every day.
Also, Tebati is okay with the soldiers staying behind. Unless one of them wants to come to carry the rations. ;)

Qhude |

I've never done Qhude's encumbrance math - but I'd think that he could carry the whole lot on his own and only go up to medium encumbrance. Which wouldn't adversely affect AC for him, and he'd still get 30ft move speed.
So Qhude can shoulder that as long as it's in a shoulder sack that's easily dropped if he cares to.

Joana |

You're at 58.7 lbs, plus your lion skin. Suppose that would be "Furs?" They're 5 lbs.
So, yeah, 84 pounds of food and a bag to put it in would put you somewhere between light and medium.
Next question is, are they actually going to charge us for the food to keep us alive while on their suicide mission? ;)

Qhude |

And Qhude is back in the saddle :)
Oahu and Kauai were indeed most excellent and nascent plans are in place for spending of accrued long service leave time on Kauai. 16 hours in a plane yesterday and 6 hours time difference to acclimatise to will make recovery relatively slow - but at least I'm at work dealing with just myself... pity my wife with two jet-lagged little'uns at home ;)
By my count Qhude is down 3 rounds of rage and 6 hp - have updated profile to suit. Will have my first in game action pending resolution of spoiler.

What follows is long-ish and off topic... but have posted as y'all have sharp RPG minds and I appreciate your opinions more than most.
So while in Hawaii I was struck by the banyan trees and how both awesome and alien they looked - with their large canopy and aerial roots descending from branches to form new trunks and such.... and figured that they would serve as good inspiration for a deity or form of nature worship - one that focuses on the symbiotic relationship shared between plants and animals. It's purview would emcompass all forms of symbiosis - beneficial, benign and destructive.
Since I've always been telling myself in my head that I should at least make some kind of an attempt to funnel some creativity into a short module or something of the like I thought I might use this as an inspiration for sparking that off.
Pondering slightly more I'm thinking that a minor deity would be the more apt choice and that led me towards the Eldest and the First World. A home within the Evergrove or the Riftwood - and the avatar of the deity itself taking on that of a strangler fig. At the fig's core is a long dead treant - choked of life by the fig's branches and merely acting as an empty shell, a dead heart of an indifferent deity.
Servants would be leshy, fungi and other animals that thrive off the life and death of others. The deity itself would be true neutral giving the spectrum of both good and evil followers depending on the nature of the symbiosis they venerated.
Adventure idea would be along the lines of a rift / portal from the first world opening up and dumping one of it's more powerful subjects into the material world. (Something like a Yellow Musk Creeper, but I'd build up a custom creature). The plant begins to affect those that encounter it leading to a need to act. Would attempt to build ambiguity into the situation as the plant improves some subjects while killing others.
So... good-ish idea? - or total pish? Be brutally honest... I can take it.

Jakob Mulle |

I like it.
One way to play up the threat would be to have the first world parasite-plant be too good at it's job. In the first world the host plants grow fast enough to support the things appetite but here it acts like Kudzu crossed with Morning Glory crossed with a strip mall, consuming and draining everything it can reach....
Another interesting bit would be to have the Treant be alive. Rendered immortal and immobile by the fig. Perhaps the treant was a willing sacrifice? One treant per generation given to the Fig for some reason....
Perhaps the personality of the treant shapes the personality of the deity? Perhaps the current treant has gone round the bend and the rift was an attempt by the now half crippled deity to summon help? Perhaps a pc will be called on to take the treants place....

Jakob Mulle |

might want to rethink that.
Back of envelope math so could be wrong but assuming it is as tall as Kerian/Qhude means about 5'10" and guessing a 3" diameter means a volume of 495 cubic inches. Assuming 50% gold as the staff has to bear it's own weight gives 247.5 cubic inches of gold. 1 cubic inch of pure gold weighs about .7 of a pound so.....
Your stick weighs {247.5 x.7=} 173 pounds for the gold. Assuming the rest is copper as the incas did means 247.5 of copper at .31 pounds per cubic inch adding {247.5 x .31=} 76.73 lbs.
Total weight of stick 249.73lbs not counting gems. That is a heavy load for 18 str. Note I purposely chose low purity gold for this. Folks who could manage that magic door could strengthen gold meaning 75% or even pure gold would be an option.

Qhude |

Nope... here's Qhude's logic at the moment:
Jakob said it's a bad idea... therefore it must be good.
He doesn't have a very high opinion of you at present after your denigrating him in front of what serves for a father figure back at the camp.

Joana |

Now, see, this is why I hate gearing up and heading out. I always forget something until it's too late. I thought of swarms, didn't think of just setting things on fire. :P
Looks like Jakob and Kieran have torches and flint & steel, though. Good thing other people's PCs are more prepared than mine. (Tebati really ought to be better at this than I am, though, with the high Wisdom.)
