EDIT - Polux is pretty bad off; he's down to just 6 HP. Meanwhile the other enemies seem to have missed their targets across the board - except for the negative energy that the Half-Orc used on the chained party.
Two wargs are dead now - and now it's your move. Hack has a warg in front of him and 3 goblins with daggers moving hard up on him; but Polux is in real trouble pretty soon -
New Battle Map Here.
EDIT: Suny, I am assuming you are actually trying to use the skill "Escape Artist" to get out of your bonds? If so, that's a raw Dexterity Check as you have no ranks in it. Also, you have a penalty to it because you're sickened.
Thank you for your well-wishes; I'll send you a PM in a moment, though.

Hack attempts to finish off the Worg in front of him.

Suny has dicken's chance of getting out of the chains. Just lowering the burben said chains are causing is more the plan.
If you are planning to make an "Aid" Check via Escape Artist - that is one thing. If you are attempting to aid one of your comrades via the AID check if they are attempting to escape, that is something you could try. But as it stands, I don't know if any of your mates are trying to escape formally; if they are, I'll assume that is your plan for now.
However the Escape Artist skill is the one you'd be using for that. As you have no ranks in it, you'd have a total of Dexterity modifier - which is +3; but you'd be at a -2 for your condition. Even so, you'd be able to beat a DC of 10 so you could give a +2 to an Escape Artist Check to one of your allies, if you'd like to.
EDIT: Hack - you missed your guy - but it would have been a really good hit if you succeeded.
Polux
I don't understand if I am simply unlucky with rolls, if the mechanics of how I built Polux suck, or if I'm not adapting well to our game, but I think he has spent more rounds on the floor than actually fighting since we started - Lets see then:
This time Polux decides to go for a different strategy, his eyes crossing paths with Daya's fierce gaze for a swift second of understanding - "If I fall, move away Daya, do not risk anything" - he finds himself speaking at the magnificent bird, as he swings from his prone position, all care thrown to the wind.
Attacking from the ground.

"If I fall, move away Daya, do not risk anything"
Polux you magnificent basterd - Daya won't be able to help you because you just dropped the warg! Good job :)
Meanwhile, I'm going to head out to work in a bit - see you all tonight and looking forward to some action then! Remember - the goblins are in play now, and you know what they can do when they flank.
Geser
With the half-orc at the door, Geser will do his best to charge directly at the front of him, this time holding his chain up so that he can pin the enemy against the door by his neck. He knows this move is probably every bit as foolish as the attempt to get the chain around his neck from behind, but he has to try.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Stefan Lebeda
Just a note, if someone performs an AoO against someone for standing up, they don't get to trip as the AoO is considered to have been done while they are still prone (this has been ruled on the discussion groups by the designers to prevent constant tripping).
Also, I know we are considered "entangled" for hitting purposes, but why is our movement halved when we are only manacled on arms, not legs?
Finally, If the Orc moves out of our threatened and then channels, he provokes an AoO from each of us as he did a standard action after leaving our threatened area.
PS- Suny, you do not have a -2 to your damage, just to your to hit. Also, Geser, you do add your STR bonus to your damage, so that is 3 extra damage from Suny and Geser. Thats 30 points of damage to him after my AoO and Geser and Suny still have their AoOs to do, if we drop him then we don't get hit by channel :)
AoO vs Orc 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
damage 1d4 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + (4) + 2 = 9
Will save vs channel 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Geser
I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical myself about why our movement would be halved. The only thing I could think of was the weight of the chains--but that would depend on our carrying capacity...thus it shouldn't slow us down unless they're either weighted or have some kind of spell on them.

btw Geser, when you hit him with your kick, you were flanking. Don't you get 1d6 of sneak attack damage? Same goes for your AoO.
I love the way Taissa is such a force multiplier :)
If, after Geser and Suny do their AoOs, the Orc is still up and does get his channel off, then I will use the first of my 50 post rerolls for my charge attack that probably missed.
charge attack reroll if needed 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
I am assuming that Geser charged straight ahead so he is probably in H27, so I should end up in H25.

Haha. Stefan, my head's spinning with stats (and strategies) for three characters on the board and trying to figure everything out. You guys were busy posting as I was sleeping. Thanks. :)
Stefan Lebeda
Combat is my element :) I love intricate encounters, its cool having to fight in weird conditions like this and lions are just plain fun to watch fighting :)
I just can't believe I made 3 will saves in a row, thats 11 points of damage less.....
Taissa Sloane
Then it's good we have you on the team re combat. Glad we managed to find a lion and motivate it to fight for our side. ;) Now finish that half-orc off (wink) because I think we may see something bigger and badder very soon (just a feeling I'm getting).
May the odds be forever on your side (re those saves), Stefan!
Geser
I like intricate encounters too, though I'm maybe not so great at following them online. I enjoy pulling moves like the ones I keep attempting--it's better than just rolling, hitting and staring at numbers. The only problem is that they're impossible to pull off because they take high rolls.
As for taking the half-orc down, I have a feeling it's going to require getting that talisman out of his hands; the problem is that Geser would rather not touch it! And he might not think of it...
Stefan Lebeda
You and Suny still have your attacks of opportunities to take from when he moved out of our flank position to channel. Don't forget your sneak attack damage from flanking too :)
Dain GM
Quick responses to Stefan –
1. While there are many variations on tripping and many possible good rules about it, the formal SRD has no specific variable that prevents tripping over and over. As such, that is a “House Rule”. While I am not opposed to it, and in fact, I agree with the House Rule which prevents unlimited tripping, I don’t normally change any rule in the middle of a combat. It’s something that would happen after the combat, because by now strategies and ideas are already locked into play. I might have (for example) redone the entire combat from scratch if I knew that. So for now, I’ll consider the rule against unlimited tripping, but as it stands, unlimited tripping occurs at least until the wargs are finished in this combat. After which, I’ll probably get rid of it, but to change it in the middle of combat doesn’t sit right with me.
2. Speaking of rules that are stupid but are also “rules” – now we deal with Entanglement. Formally you are considered Entangled. You do raise a valid point, however – specifically – why would chains on your wrist prevent you from moving at regular speed? The answer is – they wouldn’t, but they do.
In other words, there are many rules that are actually nonsense in the strictest sense. For example, if you’ve ever done underwater combat you’d know that each Medium character occupies a 5x5x5 foot Cube, even if it is a 6’6” Human Barbarian or a 3’1” Gnome. If they’re medium, they occupy a 5x5x5 cube. That is an example of a stupid rule that is in play that we all agree is stupid, but it exists to make things flow easier and to provide a structure for the game that isn’t bended to suit one person’s needs.
In this case, you were considered “Entangled”. No one tried to get out of the chains, they simply tried to attack. But the Entangled condition makes it difficult for you to move with great speed, as such, you can’t move with great speed. I should add, I agree with your sentiment via the fact that your legs aren’t tied – but at the same time, when I created the Challenge Rating I put you in an Entangled position with certain expectations. I knew what they were, you guys did, too. You didn’t try to get out of them, you tried to fight – okay; but that’s not going to be easy because of how Entanglement works.
3. If you are able to hit the Half-orc with an AoO at range, you are welcome to attempt it. However, he has moved beyond your melee range. If you’re willing to throw your knife at him, you can do that. But you can’t stab him when he’s far away from you and have it be your AoO. You’d have to move up to him to hit him.
4. The only person who can hit him at Range is currently you, Stefan – if you’d like to throw your weapon at him. But I know AoO very much. He took a move action and moved away from you and away from your threatened space. Then he used a spell-like ability away from any threatened space. You can throw your knife, but you can’t do it while flanking as there is no room to flank with him while he’s standing in the doorway. Also, via your charge – that’s a Full-Round Action – are you suggesting you are Charging him AND making an AoO at the same time?
Finally – he has more than 40 HP – but just barely.
Okay – that said, I’ll have to read stuff over, but I’ll have something up soon. Meantime, if I misread something, please give me any corrections now - I may have misunderstood things as I am still a bit loopy from work.
Stefan Lebeda
Actually the trip ruling is an official Paizo ruling by the designers in the FAQ, it is most definitely not a House rule.
Trip ruling
As to item 3, ,he was flanked by Geser and I and threatened by Suny. The rules for AoOs are that if you leave a threatened square and do anything except move, you provoke at the square you left. AoOs are performed at the square that provoked, so we aren't performing it at range (something that is impossible without 3rd Part feats anyhow). I know the AoO rules very well also (used to be a Venture Captain for Paizo for PFS). The only way to leave a threatened square and not provoke an AoO is to use the withdraw action, which makes the first square you leave not provoke, however, that is a full round action, thus no channeling. AoOs are performed on the target's turn, not mine so the AoO has no effect on Geser or I charging later on our initiative count.
Provoking an Attack of Opportunity
Two kinds of actions can provoke attacks of opportunity: moving out of a threatened square and performing certain actions within a threatened square.
Moving
Moving out of a threatened square usually provokes attacks of opportunity from threatening opponents. There are two common methods of avoiding such an attack—the 5-foot step and the withdraw action.
As for the manacles and entangle, that is fine, we were just wondering what exactly the situation was. I could even make a case that even though we only are bound at the wrists, the restriction would affect our balance thus slowing us down :), so its even justifiable.
All of that being said, you are the GM so you can change or adapt any rules as you see fit and I have absolutely no problem with that. I would just like to know, as it affects our tactical placement and is frustrating to set something up and then get surprised by a rule change that prevents it.
Dain GM
Okay - Stefan - your final move to charge the enemy would have succeeded but for the fact that there is only room for one person to attack the enemy in the doorway and Geser moved there first. That said, you can still keep your re-roll if you'd like. As both Suny and Geser have not rolled to attack the enemy via their AoO - I will do that for them now to get the ball rolling.
Suny will attempt to attack the guy with her martial arts -
1d20 + 1 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 1 + 3 - 2 = 15
If it hits -
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Geser will attempt to use the chain as an "improvised weapon", but suffers the usual penalty for Improvised Weapons; he gains flanking as requested, but is also sickened via the potion -
1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 = 18
If it hits -
1d4 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (2) = 5
EDIT - unfortunately both moves just missed; but they were very close...
Enemy actions up soon...

The first goblin moves a 5 foot step to [v]V:31 and does a full attack on Hack –

1d3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5
Attack 2
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
If it hits –
1d3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5
The next goblin moves up to Hack and also attacks him, but he can only do one attack –

1d3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 2 = 4
The warg moves over to V:21 to attempt to attack Taissa
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
If it hits –
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
If it hits Trip attack on Taissa –
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
This allows the next goblin to move up and attempt to attack Hack –
Attack

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
The goblin at O:26 will take a 5 foot step back from Daya and take a shot at her at Point Blank Range –
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28
IF it hits –
1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
Meanwhile, the goblin at O:24 will attempt to shoot the mountain lion at Point Blank Range but into melee for a -4 penalty –[/ooc]
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 24
IF it hits –
1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8
At this point the half-orc seems panicked at your presence and makes a “Full Withdraw” out of the door and moves to H:20.
He’s on the map, but you can’t see him; he went inside the doorway of the other building so he’s there, but you don’t know what he’s up to.
Edit – hmm… seems some confirmings are in order. Why can’t I get these kind of natural 20’s in my Diplomacy/Knowledge Checks?
Attack on Hack to Confirm
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
If it hits –
1d3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
Confirm on Daya –
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13
IF it hits –
2d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6, 4) + 2 + 2 = 14
Confirm on Two Kills –
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 1 = 22
IF it hits –
2d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6) + 2 + 2 = 11
EDIT: Wow – okay…

Taissa - you've managed to drop both goblins and the remaining warg.
Everyone else; there are 3 goblins still surrounding Hack. Next move they'll be able to flank him for sneak attack - hopefully someone can come save him, but we'll see what happens.
Geser, Suny Stefan - you're able to leave the lodge if you'd like; as of now no one knows what's up with the half-orc - yet.
Polux and Hack - you're also up - good hunting!
Stefan Lebeda
Stefan moves past Geser into the open.
"We are all in here!" He waves his manacled hands at the rest.
"There was a half-orc cleric that just ran out of here, did anyone see where he went?"
Stefan moves to L28 (double move at half speed).
"If anyone finds a key, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, any of those vile goblin potions would be helpful."
Taissa Sloane
Polux and Taissa both have one Healing Remedy each remaining. Polux is severely wounded (down to low single digits) and Hack is being ganged up on by goblins, who at any time now will flank and hit him harder to kill. You may have to wait for Vale to channel some healing once we're back on The Scorpion. Applying the healing salve is a full round action, btw. Can't any of you three attempt an escape artist from the chains or use a STR check to break the chain link with the help of a dagger or something?
As a free action, Taissa shouts to the others, "No healing draughts left! Finish the goblins on Hack and then we leave as fast as we can!"
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
How many goblin healing potions do we have left (those discovered on the bodies of those dead goblins on the foreshore)? Polux drank one and so did Hack, yes? We need to a loot list on the campaign page. Edit: Stefan, we only found two of those foul goblin/orc potions and they are used up. None left unfortunately. We've taken quite a few hits trying to finish the fight on the foreshore and get to you guys.
Dain GM
Well, if Polux is able to kill one of the goblins with his bow, and Hack can kill another with his weapon - you should be able to survive things. The weird thing is, what is the half-orc up to? I'm sure it's nothing...
I know it seems a bit challenging, but I suspect things will come together pretty soon.

Staying with Stefan and Geser, because they're just such neat guys. :P

Moving towards the shore/ship/escape for the moment. If there are any enemies between us and that? Then we fight to take them out, other wise, flee for the tools and hence freedom.
Suny - for now I am moving you to L:27, which puts you right next to Stefan while Geser is still inside.
There are indeed enemies between you and the shore. Specifically 3 goblins which are ready to gang-bang Hack on their move.
If your plan is to fight those goblins, than you'll need to move over to anywhere on line U - specifically between lines 29-32. If you can get there, you can probably drop the goblins (those are the last 3 goblins on the map.
Okay - at this point we're waiting for Polux to attack and Geser to move.
Because their actions will likely seriously impact Hack's ability to survive, I'll delay actions for them to take actions personally. If I don't hear from them soon, I'll roll for them.
Dain GM
Geser moves outside to move up toward his allies.
He looks at the goblins and cocks his head - thinking somewhat.
They're extremely nimble, and even a bit strong - for normal goblins... They're tough, strong and very fast... I'd bet that the gods didn't balance their physical power with excellent wits... and if their wits are mediocre, I'm willing to bet that they don't have a very strong willpower... in fact, I'd bet that they're nothing but weak-minded fools; otherwise why would they obey the orders of that half-orc?
Nodding to himself, he steps up to move near Stefan and Suny.
Although his hands are bound and he is not feeling his best, he knows that all of his training and skills have steeled him enough to be a little intimidating to some of these goblins...
Intimidate on the goblin at V:30.

The half-orc mentioned a "Father"; but he also mentioned a Mother - who, or what, could that be? I guess we'll have to find out...
EDIT: Geser has succeeded in doing intimidating the goblin.

Polux shakes his head at the presence of the three goblins that are now grouped around Hack.
He is on edge at what he sees - but at the same time, he knows if he doesn't drop his melee weapon and pull out his longbow and take a shot than the goblins around Hack will likely destroy him!

Taissa Sloane
I know Hack gets an AoO on the goblin who fled past him, but are we at the top of the round again?
Daya swiftly flies to S:29 to flank with Geser(?) and attacks the goblin at R:29.
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 = 13
Damage, if hits: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
But her bite doesn't hit the mark. Daya is 5-10 ft off the ground. Geser on your turn you have +2 due to flank provided by Daya.
Daya's HP 9/15, AC 22
************************************************************************
Two-Kills charges to V:29 (now flanking with Hack) and full attacks the goblin at W:30:
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 = 11
Damage, if hits: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 plus grab
Claw 1 Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20 (I believe this is the only one to hit -- their AC is 19)
Damage, if hits: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 plus grab
Claw 2 Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 = 16
Damage, if hits: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 plus grab
Attempting a grapple as a free action:
CMB to grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 vs goblin CMD 12? (Not sure if I add the +2 for flanking... if allowable, the check to grapple is 19.)
If grapple successful, additional special attack and damage,
Rake 1: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 2 = 22 (I believe this is the only one to hit -- their AC is 19)
Damage, if hits: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Rake 2: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 = 16
Damage, if hits: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Total Damage to goblin @W:30: 10
Two-Kills HP 1/26, AC 16
************************************************************************
Taissa rushes forward to V:28 and swings at the goblin @W:30 with her lucerne hammer (10 ft reach).
Attack with m/w lucerne hammer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage, if hits: 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage to goblin 10. Plus the previous 10 damage, the goblin has been hit for 20 damage and I think that downs him.
Taissa's HP 23/29, AC 16
************************************************************************
I'm hoping Polux can finish off the goblin at R:29.
If all the above has worked, Hack you only have the goblin at V:30 to contend with and you still have your AoO on him. Hack you have Two-Kills flanking with you so +2 to hit (after your AoO).
Shenkt "Hack" Corchran
I am calculating only 7 damage after two hits and after DR taken into account
Round 4, Sickened, Rage: Rd 8/11 (AC: 14), Power Att, AoO, Flanking
Hack takes his AoO against the retreating goblin.
GA Att: 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 2 - 1 = 9
GA Dam: 1d12 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 4 = 15
He then turns his attention to the other enemy, which he flanks with the Lion.
GA Att: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 10 - 2 + 2 - 1 = 10
GA Att: 1d12 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 4 = 24
C'mon now....seriously?

Okay - so here's what's up:
Suny - you were currently at M:27. Moving to M:26 is a 5 foot step that puts you near no enemy, unfortunately. Are you sure you didn't mean that you wanted to move to R:28? If so, that could help a lot.
Taissa - between you and Two Kills you managed to drop the goblin at V:30, so there is that.
Hack, since Taissa dropped the goblin you were able to pool all your attacks into the remaining goblin - but they still missed. As luck would have it, I'm not having you guys use a Critical Fumble deck, so you still have your weapon in your hand.
At this point Stefan is still armed and is able to move up and attack the goblin at Q:30 if you want to try to attack.
Then we have Polux and Geser to act.
Right! So I'm heading to work, I'll be back when you see me. Hopefully we'll see some action by then. If anyone has some thought to character adjustments, let me know, too. Okay, see you all tonight!

My apologies for the delayed posting people - got held up by a mix of Valentine and weekend family activities.
Dain GM, would it be acceptable to have Polux move also, besides having fired the bow in previous round? I would like to have him move to T:19? Also, I am not sure if the positions on the map are up to date... And also, in all honesty, I am not sure of who is where, and who is who... I hear Hack talking about flanking with Two-Kills, but they seem to be miles away from each other, I see a note referencing a goblin in Q:30 but I don't see any icon there, etc. In any case, Polux will chose either to assist Geser (I believe he is in Q:29, fighting a goblin in R:29?). Or assisting Hack, depending on how many enemies are around him, and their positions.... Assuming Polux could have moved to T:19 in the round before, he will now charge to S:28 to attack the goblin there.
Earthbreaker Attack (charge+fighting defensively): 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 - 4 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 3) + 9 = 16
Status -> AC:16 || HP:6
Stefan Lebeda
Stefan charges the goblin at Q30 while yelling out,
Did anyone see where the half-orc went?!"
attack vs goblin Q30 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
AC-14
hp-10/24
status-charging, entangled

Stefan - unfortunately you missed your target; but the goblin certainly knows you're there.
Polux - remember, the snow is considered "Difficult Terrain" - so you wouldn't be able to move 30 feet and attack, but you could have moved 15 feet and attacked with your bow (that puts you at T:17 when you used your bow. Your next move would have moved you another 30 feet via a double move to T:22.
You did do a good hit with your earthbreaker - so I'll let you keep that move for later once you're in range to hit.
At this point the only thing we need to do now is wait for Geser. His last post was Thursday in OOC - so I don't know when he'll post again. If I don't see something from him by later tonight, than I'll NPC him and move to the next round.
Polux
Meh, completely forgot about the difficult terrain... In that case yes, I'll have Polux move 15' forward in the previous round - to T:16

Posting for Geser
Geser looks around intently.
Hmm… the half-orc has been gone a while… he’s either ran for his life or he’s preparing some devilry… either way, we need to know what’s going on and if we can’t catch him that means we got to take someone for information, and that means this little bleeder!
Therefore, Geser bunches the chain around his fist like a sap and swings his fist hard into the face of the goblin.
Attack with -2 for being sickened and +2 for Flanking breaks even
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
If hits – nonlethal but with sneak attack for flanking
1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (2) = 5
EDIT: Confirm for Geser -
Attack with -2 for being sickened and +2 for Flanking breaks even
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
If hits – nonlethal but with sneak attack for flanking
1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 1 + (6) = 11
EDIT: The attack doesn't confirm but it does drop the guy into the snow. The enemy is up, I'll have a battle map up soon.
