Corsairs of Varisia

Game Master dain120475

“Corsairs of Varisia” is a homebrew campaign which has low magic; emerging technology in the form of firearms; reavers, swashbucklers, buccaneers, and pirates.

“Corsairs of Varisia” campaign pits the starting party in a emerging town situated between Riddleport and Magnimar.

The town, formerly Roderic’s Cove, had been conquered by pirates from Riddleport, but has been recently liberated from support from the south to stop the advance of Riddleport into their waters.

The town was renamed “Beacon” and the lord of the town is calling on any who wish to make their fortune and become something great; with little to aid them but their wits and steel.

Suny takes a moment to reach into her pouch with her 'Off hand', even as she draws a tonfa with her other.

Her action is to throw a handful of coins at the onrushing Goblins.

"SHINY!" She calls to get their attention focused on the coins she's tossing.

Do I need a 'Throw' roll? I'm just trying to get the coins towards their on rush, not actually hit any of them.

Suny, are you doing "total Defense"? If so, you gain +6 AC, not +3. You can only use "fighting defensively" if you make a melee attack.

Got it Dain GM, thanks for the clarification.

Noticing that Hack quickly risks being quickly surrounded, Polux dashes across the snow until he is next to him - "Back to back Hack. Hang tight" - he calmly comments to his companion.

I think that, if Polux runs the full round, I will be able to get to P:32, and that will be his action for the round I guess.

Geser will take a shot at the nearest enemy. He tries to make it so it's not a kill-shot. After all, they look like a firearm might surprise and frighten them, no matter how common guns are these days.

Cool – lowdown on the rundown –

Suny – you don’t need to make a d20 check if you’re just making the roll to distract them. However, that’s almost akin to a “Dirty Trick” in that you are literally trying to distract them with moves. I don’t know if it matters, but I’d recommend you checking out the rules for “Dirty Tricks” in the future – they seem to be very well suited to your play style. The rules can be found Here.

For now I’m giving you a Full Defense action for your AC – you’ll likely need it.

Geser, you would have actually hit that target if you had moved forward 10 feet. As it is, he’s out of the first range increment of your pistol, so you actually miss your target – but just barely.

Hack, you’re cool now with Polux back-to-back.

Stefan – your hit scraped off him, barely – you missed him by a hair…

Okay, gang – now it’s my turn.

This might take a few minutes, please be patient…

Top of round 2

Okay, this is kind of lengthy, so I’ll do my best…

Attacks on Stefan –

Two enemies attack you without the advantage of flanking…

Enemy 1
Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 = 15

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Enemy 2

At the same time, three of them have moved to flank on Stefan –

Enemy 3
Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (2) + 1 = 4

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (2) + 1 = 4

One of the enemy was able to move up to attempt to attack Suny, but they do not have flank –

Enemy 6
Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17

If it hits

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Another attacks Hack, but this one with flanking…

Enemy 8
Attack 1

If it hits –

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

And another attacks Polux with flanking
Enemy 10
Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 = 14

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (2) + 1 = 4

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 = 18

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (2) + 1 = 5

EDIT: Confirm Critical on Stefan –
Confirmation Attack
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 1 = 21

Right, so not all of the enemy could attack you, many of them were using a “double move” to set up flanks for allies and move close enough to do some damage next round.

These guys are level 2 and they have class levels – just so you know.

I’ll have an update soon with the new combat map.

Summary –

Geser – 26/26 – at R:43
Hack – 43/45 – at P:31 You were hit twice, but I already deducted your DR from their damage.
Polux – 21/27 – at P:32
Stefan – 13/24 – at M:39 Stefan, I am assuming you elected to use your Crane ability on the guy who did 8 damage. That is why you only suffered 11 points of damage instead of 19.
Suny – 22/22 – at O:39.

New battle map for your action found Here.

Additional notes – the enemy goblins look to be like they’re worked into a frenzy – whatever the issue, they seem to be pretty intent on what they’re doing and what that is killing you…

Two things. First, they get d8s instead of d6s for sneak attack? Second only 3 of the goblins can get two attacks as all others have to move more than a 5' step.

edit: Also, you have me in M39 instead of N39, I should be next to Suny.

Well, they have two-weapon fighting, I didn't realize that's a "Full Attack" action, so I'll make an adjustment to the summary in a moment.

As for their sneak attack, see here for notes on one of their levels.

I'll have the edit up via summary in a moment...

Stefan – of the guys who attacked you, the only ones who hit, hit on their first attack. If they had only one attack instead of 2, the first attack would be +2 higher and they'd have a better chance at hitting. Your HP remains the same, but your companions have lost less HP. Meantime, you are now next to Suny on the map and the enemy has moved a bit to adjust.

However, you managed to hit the guy on O:38, but you didn’t confirm.

Stefan – Question: don’t you get a “riposte” on the guy who hit you but you dodged? I’m not sure how that works, but if so, you may want to roll.

The sheet has now been adjusted and Hack only lost 2 HP and Polux only lost 6 HP. Their adjustments have been made to the summary above.

Hack – you managed to drop both enemies with your raging. Nicely done!

Geser – you are not able to move and reload. However, you don’t really need to move to attack as 4 goblins have moved up on you and are now less than 10 feet from you. You won’t have time to re-load, but you do have a second pistol – a “Double-barreled” pistol, so you could pull it and shoot at least one shot. By the way, if they’re close enough to touch you, you’ll take a penalty to shoot them if they’re adjacent to them.

Make your attack roll AND your damage roll, in case you hit.

We need moves from Suny and Polux – and Geser you need to make your rolls. In the future, just toss up your rolls for damage and to hit, if you hit, I’ll already have the damage done.

Suny - you can't reach M:39 from your current position with a 5 foot step as you're on O. Meantime, I had to readjust the map after Stefan mentioned he moved to be at your back to prevent from extra flanking. You’re unfortunately not able to move in any direction at this point now, as you’re formally surrounded on all sides (though one of those sides is actually Stefan himself).

However, I have you set for “Full Defense” at your current position in the meantime.

Meanwhile – the rules for “Fighting Defensively” State: You can choose to fight defensively when attacking. If you do so, you take a –4 penalty on all attacks in a round to gain a +2 to AC until the start of your next turn. The rules for “Total Defense” State: You can defend yourself as a standard action. You get a +4 dodge bonus to your AC for 1 round. Your AC improves at the start of this action. You can't combine total defense with fighting defensively or with the benefit of the Combat Expertise feat. You can't make attacks of opportunity while using total defense..

This should mean that if Stefan Fights Defensively his AC goes up to a 20, not a 22, and your AC goes to a 21, as it grants you a +4 to your 17.

Guys, I may be wrong in reading that, but it seems pretty clear. If I’m correct, Stefan, is there a reason you get a +4 to your AC for Fighting Defensively, instead of only a +2, such as a Trait or something I may have missed? Please let me know as it will effect not only the rest of the combat, but it also effects the DC’s I make for the future.

Geser, you did hit your target, but you didn’t state which target and there are several of them moving toward you. In the future, if you could also indicate the target via coordinates, please? For now I’m assuming you hit the guy at P:43 for 5 damage and have noted it on the sheet.

Also, Geser – you only have one shot left in your last pistol. If the enemy reach you on their move (they will) and you try to shoot them in the face at Point Blank range, you take a penalty as you don’t have the Feats for that. Your alternative is that you could either draw a melee weapon on this round so it’s in your hand, and if they come up to you, you can hit them with the weapon while still holding your pistol.

Once I get Polux’s action up, the new round starts and you’ll get a new map coming, though there were some adjustments made around Stefan and Suny because I had messed up where he was earlier. Sorry about that, but it won’t effect anyone else in the group in the meantime.

Now I'm off to work!

For fighting defensively, if you have 3 or more ranks in Acrobatics the dodge bonus goes to +3 and for Total defense it goes to +6. In addition, Crane Style reduces the penalty for fighting defensively to -2 and gives an additional +1 dodge bonus (bringing it to +4). I don't get a riposte until I take the Crane Riposte feat.

Cool! Okay - so...

Polux, you missed your target, unfortunately...

Suny the squares are indeed 5x5 feet. However, you are completely surrounded at this time and to get past them you'd need to make an Acrobatics check to evade their attacks. But if you did, it would mean that Stefan would be completely surrounded and could be flanked from a total of 8 enemies.

Stefan, sorry for any confusion there, but one final question: the Crane Wing style allows you to avoid one enemy attack using a "Full Defense" action, but not while Fighting Defensively. I'm likely missing something, though. Is there a way I could get a clarification on that, because I thought you were Fighting Defensively, not doing a Full Defense, but now I'm confused. Thank you for your patience on it, though, I've just been pretty fried with work today - it was crazy.

Okay, I'll have the bad guys up for round 3 in a little bit.

Male Half-Orc Gunslinger 1/Bounty Hunter 2 (AC 19 / HP 26 / F +6, R + 8, W +4 / Ini + 3 / Perc. +7)

I'm just having trouble because the figures don't seem to move on the map when I refresh it, so keeping track of where everyone is is tough. That is, unless I'm doing it wrong, which is entirely possible.

Geser trots back ten feet and then takes a second shot at the same target, going with the one designated by Dain GM. He grumbles when he sees that firearms don't seem to mystify them even a little bit. Apparently they will need to be treated with extreme prejudice.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Damage if successful: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Round 3 Begins…

The battle has just started, but now the enemy moves to attack…

The first goblin takes a five foot step and full attacks Polux with flanking from any ally –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 = 14

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (5) + 1 = 7

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (3) + 1 = 5

The next three goblins position themselves a bit better.

Two are able to attack Hack with full attacks without flanking, the other two are able to attack him with flanking.

First enemy goblin against Hack with Flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 1 = 15

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (1) + 1 = 5

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (5) + 1 = 9

Second goblin against Hack with Flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (6) + 1 = 9

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 = 14

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (8) + 1 = 10

Third goblin against Hack without Flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 = 22

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Final goblin attacks Hack without Flanking as well –

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Meanwhile…

The enemies near Geser attack him.

One moves up to hit him twice without flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 = 26

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Another moves up five feet to hit him without flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Three others move around him to gain flanking, but they can only attack him once each…

Goblin 1

Attack 1
1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 1 = 27

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (6) + 1 = 9

Goblin 2

Attack 1
1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 1 = 20

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (1) + 1 = 3

Goblin 3

Attack 1
1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 = 22

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (3) + 1 = 6

Finally, the last party around Stefan and Suny make their move.

All of them can flank and all of them can make two attacks as they have less than a 5 foot step, except for one that had to move around to get to Suny.

The first attacks Suny with flanking, but he may only attack once…

Attack 1
1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 1 = 15

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (3) + 1 = 6

The second goblin attacks Suny with two attacks and Flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 = 27

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (8) + 1 = 11

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 = 27

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (6) + 1 = 8

The remaining six move around Stefan with hungry eyes and face eager for blood…

First on Stefan –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 = 11

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (4) + 1 = 7

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (7) + 1 = 10

Second on Stefan –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 = 11

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (6) + 1 = 10

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (6) + 1 = 10

Third on Stefan –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 = 19

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (4) + 1 = 6

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (6) + 1 = 10

Forth on Stefan –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (3) + 1 = 7

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12

If it hits –

Fifth on Stefan –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (3) + 1 = 5

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (4) + 1 = 7

Sixth on Stefan -

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (2) + 1 = 4

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 = 18

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (2) + 1 = 6

EDIT: Confirm Critical on Geser once and Suny twice –

Confirm on Geser
Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Confirm 1st on Suny
Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 1 = 17

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Confirm 2nd on Suny
Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Okay – I’ll have a summary up soon…

I'm just having trouble because the figures don't seem to move on the map when I refresh it, so keeping track of where everyone is is tough. That is, unless I'm doing it wrong, which is entirely possible.

Geser trots back ten feet and then takes a second shot at the same target, going with the one designated by Dain GM. He grumbles when he sees that firearms don't seem to mystify them even a little bit. Apparently they will need to be treated with extreme prejudice.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 6

Damage if successful: 1d8

Geser - each round I have to put up a new map, so what happens is that if you refresh the map, you'll be looking at the one I put up a few days ago. After each enemy move, I'll have a brand new map. I'm not very handy with Google, so I don't know how to make it work so I can have it be refreshed - but I will do what I can for the future.

Meanwhile, you took your attack action for Round 2 already - you hit your guy and did damage. Round 3 starts with the enemy attacking. You rolled some good rolls on that, so you can keep your attack roll of 18, but the thing is, once you see the new battle map, you'll be at T:48. That's the only place you can move back 10 feet without being open to an AoO. This assumes you're still up, I have to go through and see how much damage everyone took and I'll have that up in a summary soon...

You would know for sure, though, that any other enemy in a half mile radius just heard your gunfire. The first shot would alert them to the fact that someone somewhere is shooting. The second shot means that now they know where the shots are coming from...

It depends on you, they just recently (this week) completely changed the Crane feat tree. It used to be one deflection per round, now they changed it to +4 dodge bonus to AC while fighting defensively decalred BEFORE the attack roll (thus completely neutering the feat) there was a huge uproar about it (over 1500 posts in three days), still waiting for the dust to clear. Essentially, you can either continue as before, or say the new version is now in effect.

I think I'll visit this after the combat. For now, keep it as you have it, until at least after the combat. I'm not entirely sure what to do on it. I know that a change is more balanced, but it certainly messes up how this combat is meant to work. If I keep the way it is written now (that is - a +4 Dodge Bonus), and you are not happy about that, I will allow you to adjust your character if you'd like.

It allows you to deflect an attack, as you have been doing, but only if it's Full Defense - so there is that. But we'll worry about it after the combat is over...

Summary up soon...

In my opinion, the recent changes to the Crane feat tree have completely gimped the logic behind it, placing yet another bump in the road for those attempting to play martial characters... Sad, but true. But before the changes, I believe the feat allowed to deflect an attack while fighting defensively, and not only when in full defense.

The Feat Automatically meant that the defender could negate any attack of his choice after he saw the results of the attack at only a modest penalty. That's a pretty impressive bonus - but again, nothing's been decided. I will say that the old bonus has been factored in when I built the combats, though.

Summary in a moment - then it's your move...

Bottom of Round 3 – you guys can move…

Status –

Geser: 6/26 – at R:43 Geser, if you decide to take a 10 foot step back to T:44 and shoot the same guy you hit before, that’s fine. Just let me know what your plans are. Remember, too – they outnumber you at 4-1. Those odds are likely motivating their courage against your weapon, but you picked up a clue – they must have seen firearms before…

Hack – 25/45 – at P:31 Hack, I have already factored in your DR.

Polux – 21/27 – at P:32 You are very lucky – they missed you.

Stefan – 3/24 – at N:39 You were hit for 20 points, but I negated 10 points of damage because of the Crane Style – again, that’s something we’ll have to revisit after this combat.

Suny – 0/22 – at O:39 You are currently considered to be Staggered as you have zero hit points. Full rules for Staggered can be found on this link here LINK.

Round 3 combat map can be found at this LINK.

Remember – an enemy with a “Yellow” Halo has been wounded moderately (less than half) and an enemy with a “Red” Halo is nearing death.

Of course, an enemy with a Red X through it has already been killed…

I raged last round for more HP. It is always in the tag line for my avatar. You did 18 total damage after DR, and that would come off of 42. Putting me at 28/45 by my count.

Hack, you had a total of 43 out of 45 points on the start of Round 2 when they attacked and did damage. Then you raged. At the start of Round 3 the enemy attacked you and you lost 18 HP (actually you lost 22, but with the DR it was only 18). So at the beginning of Round 3 you have 25/45 Actual and 31/51 in rage.

Also, you dropped your enemy at O:30.

For those of you who have forgotten - some of you have a free re-roll. It may be very helpful.

Polux keeps his routine up - he knows this will not be an easy, nor fast combat, so he paces himself. In spite of fighting with a huge weapon that lends itself to strong, brutal swings, he maintains his tempo and pace - "If Stefan and Suny fall... We need to dispatch these fast, but I don't seem to be able to land a single blow Hack my friend" - he comments at the raging barbarian at his back.

If you say so. I lost track of the amount of damage taken. I certainly did not have it calculated that way, but I will go with it.

Stefan - the wounded one is the guy with the yellow halo - he's actually at P:38. You can't actually reach him from where you are, he moved around to get to flank with Suny and was one of the guys who could only do one attack on her.

You are currently at N:39 and are able to attack the enemy around you, or try a Full Defense until/if your companions can get to you.

As soon as Geser checks in - round 4 opens up.

More to come tomorrow...

Monk(Master of Many styles)1, Fighter (Weapon Master) 3: HP-31, AC-19, Touch-15, F+6, R+7, W+2; Perception -1, Initiative +4

just allocate my attack to the guy that threatens Suny also.

No worries, Stefan - it's done and done - and you hit him!

Meanwhile, with cool precision Geser steps back to T:42 and takes his shot against the enemy, wounding him further. Seeing that he's empty of ammo in his pistols, he quickly switches the pistol to his "off hand" and draws his rapier with his good hand.

He is not proficient with two-weapon fighting, but given his luck he figures that he'll either hit them hard or not at all - better for him to expand his chances with a second weapon...

Okay - now it's my turn... this may take a bit, so please be patient as things are about to get very interesting...

Apologies – I need to do this in different “groups” for reasons which will become obvious in a moment.

That said, the group on Geser goes now…

The enemies move to attack Geser, but there seems to be something unusual in their movements…

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 - 4 = 13

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 - 4 = 13

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Another moves up to attack Geser, but he has to move too far for two attacks (as do the rest).

Attack with Dagger
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 5

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

And the next –

Attack with Dagger
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 22

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The next moves to attack Geser as well –

Attack with Dagger
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 14

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The last moves to flank and makes his attack –

Attack with Dagger
1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 18

If it hits
1d3 + 1 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (6) = 10

EDIT: Geser is still up... but it feels like somehow they're pulling their punches for some reason...

The enemies around Stefan and Suny seem to be intent on blood, but at a barking command from one of them seems to cause them to adjust their tactics somewhat –

Enemy 1 attacks Stefan –

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 10

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 9

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Enemy 2 Attacks Stefan with Flanking

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 22

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 23

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

EDIT:

Stefan feels the blunt pommel of the their dagger smash into his temple and he crashes into the snow face first.

The others quickly turn to face Suny -

Enemy number 3

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 9

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 19

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Enemy number 4

Attack 1
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 21

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 2
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 15

If it hits
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

EDIT:

Suny feels the sharp rap of the the crude flat of the dagger slam into her chin. It is enough to drop her to the ground with a thud...

The ones attack Hack and Polux seem far less merciful…

The first takes a 5 foot step to flank with Hack and attacks –

Two-handed attacks with daggers if flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 = 19

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (6) + 1 = 9

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (4) + 1 = 7

The next, thanks to the flanking by his ally, also attacks Hack, yet he seems more merciful, as if he’s hoping not to kill Hack outright –

Two-handed attacks with daggers if flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 20

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 23

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

The next attacks Polux –

Two-handed attacks with daggers if flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 = 18

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (6) + 1 = 8

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28

If it hits –
1d3 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (4) + 1 = 6

And the other seems somehow more merciful against Polux, as if hoping not to kill him outright…

Two-handed attacks with daggers if flanking –

Attack 1
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 16

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 2
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 19

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Confirm on Hack
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 22

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Confirm on Polux
1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25

If it hits –
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

EDIT: Hack is up, but Polux is barely standing at a 0 and staggered... more to come soon.

DR Doubled to 2 for Non-Lethal attacks. I am assuming only 8 damage after DR on one regular attack.

As the enemies still move around their targets the remaining scum near the unconscious Stefan and Suny grab the bodies of your allies and hoist them up and go loping forward on the path up the hill charging up the trail…

On the map you’ll see Stefan and Suny with circles to let us know they’re unconscious. The goblins with the blue circle are sharing the load of the bodies between them.

Anything in the hands of Stefan and Suny has fallen into the snow.
