The group troops out of the market tents and heads down the narrow shaded road named Lots Lane. A large tavern rollicks at the beginning of the road, the sign reading The Bottle & Jug. Several passed out bubbers lie in the filthy road. There is the sound of several bubbers drunkenly singing off key and urinating in the alley to its side.
The sound of footsteps alerts you all to the advance of some ugly-looking bully boys and bub bashers headed your way, swords unsheathed.
Roll me some group initiative!

Nari gets to know the woman, who goes by the handle 'Naught'. She explains her birth name has a lot of strange sounds that Cagers can't pronounce easily, and she's used to Naught. She's a Bleaker, and she has been in Sigil for about a month, putting in some time here helping out before she sets off to the planes again.
"I like to travel, and hopefully someday I'll find something to help folks more than serving bread and soup," She says
Any specific questions?
Seph is petted and fawned over by several dirty Hive toddlers in line with their mothers for some food. He gets the feeling that they don't get a lot of time with domestic animals. Several of the line waiters lick their lips when they see Seph's glossy fur, probably wondering how much they could get for his pelt and how good his flesh might taste in a stew.
Anyone else have actions?

17 here as well. Looks like we'll be working together as a cohesive Team.
Alerted to the oncoming thugs, Bethany throws off Drazek's Coat and reaches into her Quiver, drawing forth a wickedly serrated wooden blade and turning towards the toughs, Drazek at her side.

17 as well! Dang! They won't know what hit'em! ;P
At the motions of Drazek and Bethany, Justin notices the group approaching and mutters a few choice words under his breath. He tugs his coat open to make access to his dark blade easier, but doesn't draw it. He steps to the side, placing himself behind the others, but allowing him a clear view of the approaching group.
"Hiyas! Nice day for a stroll in the rain, isn't it?" Justin calls to the toughs with a smile as he tugs an unnoticed-till-now medallion from where it has been tucked under his shirt and lets it hang visible on his chest. He lets his arms hang loosely at his sides, but his gloved fingers flex,...

"Who's getting penned in the dead book?"
Nari gives Karrin a silencing look, and speaks quietly so as not to be overheard by the people in line. "Supposedly the fellow we're looking for was killed, but we only have the word of a somewhat suspicious female. She's a Collector, but she's new and there may be something not quite right going on. For all we know Eli might have paid off the Collector to tell people he was dead. While we've been looking for him we've heard rumors of other disappearances in the Hive though, also supposedly dead. We're still investigating. If you happen to know of anyone else who's disappeared lately, that might help us find a pattern, and figure out what's going on."
Isaac
I'll just post my actions for when the fight starts proper.
Isaac's face goes cold as he pulls a long, finely crafted spear out of his quiver (which should be far too small to hold it). The long spear has the Godsmen symbol embossed toward the base of the leaf-shaped blade opposite his own maker's mark, a stylized tree with a ring going through the trunk. No gregarious banter, no warnings or offers of parley; he picks cheap shots where he can get them and uses the weapon's reach to maximum effect.
MWK longspear: 1d20+5=18, 1d8+3=7
Drazek Darkholme
At the first indication of violence on either side Drazek takes a single step forward, strange words leaving his lips as his hands begin a twirling motion.
Dark pulsating energy coalesces in his hands coming to form a wicked looking glaive made of solid black light. The weapon generates a deep ominous hum as he whirls it toward the thug 10 feet ahead of him ignorng armor and shield to bite into his enemy with bone searing cold.
Touch attack 1d20+5=20, 2d6=9
He continues to twirl the weapon with a flourish daring any to enter his deadly range
Glaive will remain until his next turn allowing attacks of opportunity to any passing within 10 ft.
Lady Bethany Archaise
Bethany twirls the wicked weapon in front of her as she begins to sing.
Take heart my friend in sagas old
And learn from their valiant tales.
Be brave and see your purpose done
And your foes be downed like ales.
Perform (Sing) Check for Inspire Courage. (1d20+9=13)
Inspire Courage (sorry about the cheesy lyrics it was a rush job).
Lasts for 5 rounds after she finishes singing.
Just a clarification: can she attack while singing? I'm not sure, as in the Bardic Music description it says "Even while using a bardic
performance ability that doesn’t require concentration, a bard cannot cast spells, activate magic items by spell completion (such as scrolls), or activate magic items by magic word (such as wands)."
It doesn't say Attacking.

The way I read it, you need one round to set the effect up, but you can stop playing then and it lasts 5 rounds. At least that's the way my bard Pip rolls ..

Initiatives:
Party: 17
Bully boys: 14
The seven dark-cloaked toughs advance. Issac's spear hits one, gashing his side deeply. Drazek's dark energy glaive hits another, causing that ruffian to howl in pain as well. Bethany's singing inspires the others to new heights of action.

Yeah I know the first round it is a Standard Action to set up the effect, but then in the subsequent rounds can she continue to sing and still attack is what I am asking (I am hoping this fight won't go for much more than 5 rounds, but just in case). The above text from the BETA Rules says that she can't cast spells and such while singing, but it doesn't say anything about being able to attack while singing. If she can't than I'm fine, she'll just set up the effect and stop singing, making it last for an extra 5 rounds, I just thought that if the battle does go for more than 5 rounds I might as well keep singing while I attack.

Well, my take on it (and to make bards a little better than singing buff machines) is that they CAN cast spells and such. That's my DM fiat. What point is a bard if they have to keep performing to keep the Inspire Courage up? Nope, in my games the bard does the standard action in rd 1, then the effect is in place for 5 rounds, NO MATTER what else the bard wants to do ...

"That sounds like someone we'd like to talk to for sure," Karrin says, "where can we find Factol Lhar?"

"He keeps his kip up on the fifth floor."
She points to the tall open-roofed tower that surrounds the circular plaza
"You'll be better off talking to Factor Sruce, in the Mad Bleaker Wing. She's got Lhar's ear, and can get a message to him. She's usually in Inprocessing over there."
Naught points to a line of folks entering the tower.
" Ask for her assistant Grendyll and tell her that Naught sent you over."
Justin Case
Sorry for the delay,
Justin's eyebrow goes up as both Isaac and Bethany pulls weapons out of items too small to possibly hold them without the use of magic, 'Hm, they're bigger on the inside', he thinks to himself. He raises the other eyebrow to join the first as Drazek materializes a glaive of dark energy, and tears into the nearest street tough while he is still 10' away!
Justin looks peeved as he momentarily bemoans the lost opportunity to dazzle the enemy with his rapier wit, then shrugs as he plucks a bit of mystic flotsam from one of his vest pockets.
"Meh, It was a boring conversation anyway." Justin mutters as he quickly waggles his fingers in a particular pattern. The golden stars on the knuckles of his blue gloves flash as he completes the gestures. There is a flash, and the gestures he made seem to leave an image in the air, a floating rune of mystic fire. Holding his hands in the rune, he cries,
"Fuego! Venitas Fuego!"
Justin's hands are covered in flames, which hiss in the dreary rain, but still flare brighter at his oddly echoing shout. He points his finger at the thug directly in front of Bethany, and the flames leap from his hand in a thin ray to strike the bully-boy in the chest.
OK, Ray Of Flame (from Spell compendium) on thug nearest Bethany. BAse spell is 1d6 dmg per 2 caster lvls, AND must make Reflex save vs DC:16
or catch fire and take ANOTHER 1d6 dmg each round until save is made. (Although I imagine he gets a bonus to that save for being in the rain!)
OK, BASE dmg is 1d6 per 2 caster lvls. Or 2d6 at lvl 4. +1CL for Thematic spell (Thematic spell Feat), +1CL for being Evocation (VArisian Tattoo Feat), +2CL to a 1st lvl spell for use of Arcanist's gloves (usable 2/day) for a total Caster Level of 8 and 4d6 Dmg, +1 pt dmg to the spell for my being an evoker. (Wait till you see what I can do with a 2nd lvl spell!) ;P
EDIT- Oops! Too tired,... Forgot to add my Bound Amulet, which has two enchantments on it, including 'EMpowered Spellshard: Ray of Flames' 3/day add Empowered to the attuned spell when cast, so add 50%, (+10 pts) of dmg to the spell for a total of 30 fire dmg.
Going bed now,... nighters

A fine case of arson
The stream of firey energy lashes out from Justin's hands and wraps one of the bully boys in a caul of flame. The Hiver thug shreiks, his skin melting off his bones with the fury of the arcane spell. He drops into a filthy puddle and a hissing fog of ordure-scented moisture erupts.
Zing-GOW!
The narrowness of the street acts as a barrier, and only two of the thugs can bring their short swords to bear. the others flip Hiver shivs at the party.
Sword damage Bethany: 1d6+2=8, Shiv Drazek: 1d4=1, Shiv Justn: 1d4=4
One thug's sword bites deep into Bethany's side, drawing a gout of bright red blood. A flipped shiv gashes Drazek's ear, a runnel of blood drips down his neck. Justin is hit in the thigh with another of the slim shanks, the rusty blade sinking into his flesh almost to the hilt.

A crowd of Night Market patrons start to notice the brawl, and begin to crowd about. Faces can be seen pressed against the Bottle & Jug's small barred windows cut into its black stone facade. A pair of lagre ugly goblinoids flank the tavern's entrance, and bar it against entry by anyone.

No, the street, while muddy and filthy, is still relatively level, so I'll call it regular terrain

Drazek's spinning glaive slices deeply into one of the dagger-tossing goons, causing a howl of pain. Drazek's glaive then literally spits one of the thugs from crown to crotch, the two bifurcated pieces falling to the side.

Issac Knowledge:
They're all dressed in the typical patchwork armor that piecing together the scraps of half-a-dozen suits gets you. Their cloaks are thick black wool, but a Cager usually has a good foulweather cloak, seeing as it rains all the time.
Nothing really extraplanar about them save that some of their granddaddies were from the Lower Realms. The one Issac speared first off had cloven hooves, but that's nothing out of the ordinary in these parts.
The cloaked man Issac now faces is very adept at keeping his face hidden. He is a slight man with a wiry build under his black wool cloak. The large ape is definately Lower Realms material, and big and pissed off right now.

Yay Wizzie Will save bonus!
Justin shouts in pain as the dagger plunges deep into his leg, not a cry of agony, but he definitely ain't happy either. He instinctively reaches for the dagger to pull it out, but pauses a wave of weariness washes over him. He shakes it off, and glares up at the thugs.
"You lot aren't clever enough to cast, so who,...?" Justin looks around in time to see Isaac charge back up Lot's Lane and attack a cloaked figure with his spear. And see the larger figure that steps from an alley to swipe at Isaac!
"Whoa, that's big!" Justin mutters under his breath.
"Draz, Beth! These clowns are a distraction! We're being flanked!" Justin cries as he aims his palm past Beth's shoulder again. You can catch a glimpse of a small lens in his palm before he cries, "Fuego! Venitas Fuego!". Once again a glowing, fiery glyph appears in the air, and Justin sticks his hand in it. His hand is covered in flames, which pulse in time with a flash from his amulet, before streaming off towards another thug,...
