DISCLAIMER: This is my first attempt at GMing an online game, so bear this in mind.
Mayor Kendra Deverin has announced a reward of 1,000 GP to the group that can stop the mysterious killer.
No one has actually caught the culprit, but recently a goat was found dead with a long black tooth embedded in it, leading the townsfolk to name the killer "Black Fang".
Black Fang's Dungeon is a 1st level adventure, designed for those new to Pathfinder. However, I would prefer you to have an understanding of basic rules, since communication in a Play-by-Post can be slow.
Player Requirements
Classes: Core Rulebook, Advanced Class Guide, Advanced Player's Guide
Races: Core Rulebook
Try to post once a day, and give prior notice to long periods of inability to post.
Combat: I will roll initiatives for the enemies, grouped as appropriate. Try to post in initiative order, as this will be helpful to you,
Traits: 2
Ability Points: Standard (4d6, discard lowest, repeat for 6 scores)
Alignment: Non-Evil
Please include a brief backstory and description of your character (why you're in Sandpoint, why you agreed to this adventure, personality, etc.) Put important stats like AC, saves, Perception, Initiative, etc. in the Class/Level Bar.

I am suprised this hasn't gotten more action, a roll for stats is always fun. I am not exactly new but I'm sure not a veteran either. Let's roll up some stats and see what happens shall we.
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 2) = 10 = 9
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 3) = 9 = 8
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 6) = 17 = 14
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 3) = 16 = 13
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 4) = 13 = 11
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 6) = 17 = 14
Now what shall I make?

I am interested in playing a play by post game! I have only ever played in person. My idea for a character is a sorcerer from magnimar who wanted to join the Golem works there but was rejected. He has traveled to Sandpoint to prove himself a worthy spellcaster by other means. He is rash but kind hearted, and hates looking weak.
forgive me if the dice are wrong, never submitted on here before
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 3) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 5) = 21
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 3) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 3) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 1) = 11

@MacShack Would it be alright to use the Impossible bloodline? It isn't in the core or advanced guides but it is in Paizo published material. link .
Also I plan on my character being a halfling, do you have any restrictions on the halfling alternative race traits? I have never used alternative race traits before and do not know how 'accepted' they are.
Lastly how much of a finished character do we post in here as a submission? Do I just use a text post explaining my character or is there a more elegant character management system to use? I understand how to make aliases but wasn't sure what to do from there.
Sorry for all the questions. Let me know if you know of any guides that answer all these questions if I am being to much of a bother. Thanks!
GM MacShack |
@eriks_den Under the text box, there is a button that says "How to format your text". Clicking show reveals all the formatting options, one of which is die rolls. Also, if you hit preview, your rolls will stay the same if you post them, which means that you can edit the rest of the post to fit what you have. (e.g. Let's say you're rolling to attack an enemy. If you roll a 20, you could add in a critical confirmation roll before posting.)

For keeping track of your character
http//pcgen.org/
And this guide is okay.
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/character-creation/
Basically first roll four dice six times and remove the lowest to get your ability scores. Choose stats for these (put the higher scores in the related and importand stats). Choose a race (which will auhnent your stats) and a class (what you want to do/be).
Paizo has an alias system where you keep track of your stats and abilities on this site so others can see them. Good luck!

I got a bit busy for character creation (working graveyard sucks sometimes), but I can definitely get a character up tomorrow. I've had a barbarian concept I've wanted to try out for awhile. Dice rolls below.
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 3) = 16 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 2) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 3) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 5) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 4) = 16 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 5) = 18 = 15

Good day!
I'm very new to the PBP style of Pathfinder. I'm certainly interested in applying. I've been playing d20 games for just about two decades now and unfortunately it's been hard to keep a live table.
Still looking to game however!
How do I go about applying for your game?
Thank you in advance!
GM MacShack |
@Daleyn Hi!
In terms of rolling dice, there is a built in function (click "How to format your text", just under the text box).
For creating a character, you can create a new alias. Click "My Acount" in the upper right corner, log in, and along the left side there is a button that says "Create New Alias". Click on this, give your character a name, and select a profile picture from the selections available. Just edit your profile and write up a character sheet, and to use the character when posting, just select it from the Post As box under the text box.

Hey c: I'm not new to Pathfinder, but I am new to PbP.
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 6) = 17 => 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 6) = 20 => 18
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 6) = 12 => 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 4) = 12 => 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 5) = 16 => 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 4) = 16 => 14
I certainly can't complain about that! I'm tempted to make a dwarf oracle or paladin.

@ MacShack - Great!
I've started, I created an Alias Goruk Stonemaul as a Test, eventually a Barbarian I'd like to play in the future, however haven't decided if I'll make him a PFS for the Con's I go to.
If they don't I'd gladly play really anything as my first forray into the PBP world.
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 2) = 11
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 2) = 11
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 4) = 15
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 6) = 15
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 3) = 15
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 6) = 15
9,10,12,14,12,14 - Array
Hey! Finally got the spoiler thing to work. Is there a way to see what everyone is playing? Just so I can put together a concept and backstory for submission to you?

Hi Macshack, I am new player in both tabletop and PbP. I am very much interested to join if you are able to show me the ropes.
If you could show me where can I find the necessary materials and guide, i will read up on my own and learn as we go along. Just need a little kickstart.
I am able to check in online everyday for a couple of times per day. Active player in IOS version of pathfinder card adventure. :)
Thank you in advance.
edit : i have gotten Core Rulebook, Advanced Class Guide, Advanced Player's Guide. will go read up while pending your reply. And lets see how my rolls are :)
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 2) = 12 = 10
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 3) = 19 = 16
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 3) = 9 = 7
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 3) = 17 = 14
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1) = 8 = 7
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 3) = 17 = 14
Altho it is my first attempt, seems pretty bad... haha.. will survive i guess.
Cheers
Maxmon

@Daleyn the only way is to check this thread. So far we've got (with finished characters)
Shadowsaint with Belliken Weaver
Parrot Familiar with Hank the Keeper
@Maxmon pretty much every pathfinder resource is available online here.

I'd also love to play, if there's a spot available.
Appearance
Phedran is a slim middle-aged elf, gaunt of face with sharp features. The fact that he is slightly balding reveals his age, but he is still fit. He keeps a well groomed but bushy pair of sideburns to compensate for his retreating hairline. His narrow eyes and thin lips tend to give him a default expression of scorn or disapproval.
Character
He is intelligent above all; logic and reason dictate most of Phedran’s actions. This makes him cold, distant, obtuse to most others. He respects utility and duty, and has little regard for people in his way. He is a strong believer in there being a place for everything, with everything in it’s right place. Routine is his foundation. He is fascinated by cephalopods. He understands that he lives in a world with demonstrable divine intervention, however he believes the Gods to be fickle and tempestuous in their behaviour, and would prefer to be left out of their charades. He believes (and can likely prove statistically) that he is probably-definitely-and-very-likely the smartest person in the room.
Motivation
A physician by trade, Phedran was the personal doctor to a minor lord. His charge, the lord's young sickly son grew gravely ill, and died despite Phedran's attempts to stave off the illness. Scorned by his employer, the chirurgeon drove off on an expedition to work through the guilt and expand his knowledge of the field of healing salves and tinctures. A grand sabbatical in a distant land was to be had.
Phedran's recent travels have brought him to Sandpoint, where his modest sum of savings has dwindled away. Figuring he has enough coin for room and board for less than a week, he goes to the local Pathfinder lodge to seek employment - surely every adventuring party needs someone with medical experience?
I'm just on my lunch break at the moment, so I'll roll now, and edit in my character sheet if I can get it done within the hour.
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 5) = 19 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 2) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 1) = 6 = 5
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 5) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 4) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 3) = 15 = 12
Oof. That 5 is rough, but the rest is decent.
