So here are the rules for character creation for this campaign.

Build Point Limitations (per the core rulebook)

  • 400 BP Total for Character Creation:
  • 200 or fewer BP can be used on Physical or Mental Attributes (i.e., Magic/Resonance and Edge don't count toward this limit)
  • 35 or fewer BP spent on Positive Qualities
  • 35 or fewer BP earned by Negative Qualities
  • 1 Active Skill maxed out and the rest no higher than Rating 4
OR 2 at Rating 5 and the rest no higher than Rating 4
  • Free Knowledge Skill BP equal to your (Intuition+Logic) x 3
  • Language Skills count as Knowledge Skills. And you get 1 language at Native for free :)
  • (Houserule) Free BP to buy Contacts equal to your Charisma x 2. Your contacts with free BP are subject to approval though. If you want a 6/6 super-contact, you have to spend your own BP to do it.

Starting Gear Rules (per the core rulebook)

  • 50 BP or fewer spent on gear (1 BP = 5,000¥).
  • Cannot buy anything at character creation with an Availability higher than 12.
  • Cyber/bioware is only available at standard or alphaware levels at creation.
  • Unused BP nuyen don't roll over, but for each 100¥ left, you can add +1 (up to +3x the number of dice rolled) to your starting money dice roll result

    My Requirements

  • Only base metatypes allowed (human, dwarf, elf, ork, or troll)
  • At least a paragraph of Backstory about your character, and a paragraph of physical description. Also include at least a sentence or two on your relationship with each of your contacts, especially those with Loyalty 4 or higher.
  • Please commit to (at least) 1 post per day, except on weekends.

So I have 3d6 x 50¥ for low lifestyle, and 1000¥ remaining BP¥, so I can get 9 extra dice, totaling 12d6 x 50¥, right?
If so, here's the roll: ¥¥!: 12d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 4, 5, 3, 2, 3, 6, 2, 5, 1) = 41
Aw, a little below average. Oh well. That's 41 x 50 = 2050¥.

Consult the Starting Money Table and roll randomly. Add up the total results of all dice. If you have any nuyen left over from Resources, you may add +1 to the dice roll for every 100¥ left over, up to a maximum of 3 times the number of dice rolled (in other words, you may add up to half the maximum possible dice result). Multiply the result by the appropriate factor listed, and the result is your character’s starting nuyen.

Emphasis mine

So actually, you add the +1 to the result, not the dice pool, so it would be (3d6+9)x50¥

Oh! If everyone could roll an Edge Test, just in case I can't make up my mind between two characters :)

Oh, I see now. So here:
¥a¥!: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 1, 4) + 9 = 19 = 950¥.

Edge Test: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4) = 8 = 0 hits.

Male Dwarf

I don't remember how much leftover cash I had from buying gear when I made this character, so I'll just assume 0 (because I don't feel like counting it up again).

Cash: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1) = 9 x50 = 450¥

Edge: 1d6 ⇒ 6 = 1 hit. Yay!

Human Physical Adapt | Condition Monitors (P 11/11 | S 10/10) | Limits (P 7|M 5|S 5 |A 5) | Perception 6 | Armor Rating 12 | Unarmed Strike -13[7], DV 5P | Yamaha Pulsar - Taser, Acc 5, DV 7S(e), AP -5, SA, 4 (m)

Same here...cannot remember how much I had left...so I will also go with 0

Starting Cash: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) = 17 x50=850
Edge: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7

How do you make the new yen symbol?? Just curious

Male Dwarf

I just copied and pasted from the Shadowrun PDF.

M human

I think it's the same as the standard yen symbol.

Init:8(11) IP:1 PDT: 0/10 SDT: 0/10 Composure:6 Judge:7 Memory:7 -1 Wound Modifier

Starting Cash : 8d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 4, 3, 4, 6, 5) = 31 x 500 = 15500¥
Edge :2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11

Miyako, This starting nuyen roll adds the modifier to the result, not the dice pool, since this is one of the few rolls based on result not number of hits. So it would be 5d6+3, not 8d6.

LOL ooops

new starting nuyen 5d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 6, 4) + 3 = 22 x 500 = 11000¥

Thanks

The Exchange

So we're faceless still? If so, I'll offer someone else to round out the group. Don't worry GM, I'll load him up with plot hooks.

M human

For those of you with all your dice pools for all Active Skills listed (from Chummer, I assume?), could you please use ooc tags on the Skills you have Rating 1 or higher? It's really hard to tell what your skill sets are when it lists every Active Skill possible.

Init:8(11) IP:1 PDT: 0/10 SDT: 0/10 Composure:6 Judge:7 Memory:7 -1 Wound Modifier

Done . Also listed the skill groups I ranked up.

Init:8(11) IP:1 PDT: 0/10 SDT: 0/10 Composure:6 Judge:7 Memory:7 -1 Wound Modifier

Added some contact history for you cloaked.

Shadowrun

Here is fnord's character, at long last.

I still have some $1900 to spend, please take a look over and see if you notice anything glaring. And I'd like to burn most of it off too.

Edge 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 5) = 13
Starting cash 4d6 + 12 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 6) + 12 = 28 x100= 2800

M human

Chelsy, what kind of real SIN do you have? I'd guess a corporate citizen of Novatech from your parents based on your backstory, but a government SIN wouldn't surprise me either.

In any case, head on over to the Beta Run page (link is above on the team roster)

The Exchange

As mentioned, I can swap to a Face role if req'd. Put a real nice one together a couple days ago for fun.

Shadowrun

Hadn't considered there were different sources. If Novatech went defunct, what happened to those SINs?

M human

D-Kal, you can play whichever you want. People skills are handy, but you guys can still complete this scenario without much trouble even without a Face. Although even if you did switch to Face, Beta Run would still need one, and Beta Run is the one I'm recruiting for. :)

Chelsy, if you did indeed start with a Novatech SIN, you (or your parents) would obtain a new SIN from whichever country you lived in. Some sort of legal channels would be open for this, even if you did have to grease a few palms along the way to smooth the process. Assuming you were raised in Seattle, you would get a SIN from the UCAS (United Canadian and American States). Otherwise you might have one from the NAN, or Calfree. (Sorry, I had forgotten that Novatech had gone belly up).

Male Cuddly L'il Fuzzy Hamster Psion (Telepath) 20

Working on a Face for Beta Run consideration.

Basic idea is a smooth talking, suit wearing former spy. Will have rest of his crunch up tomorrow when I have access to Chummer.
