"Let's try the river route. I feel time is pressing. In the worst case we can ford or swim the river and it'll still be faster."

"Hopefully the boat is there."

You find Old man Ager's place on the river, his boat is there, and he's dead from claw attacks of some sort.

"Shall we test tha boat?"

"Yes, but I'd like to take a look at Ager's wounds first. See if I can tell what killed him."

Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

"Should we at least haul his body cross tha river fer a proper burial an keep tha animals from scatterin tha remains?"

you can't tell bert, due to the amount missing and the amount of rotting the body did.

"I think it would be better to bury him here and I'll perform a quick funeral for him."

"That would be good. The sooner the better."

And so we dig.

Then on to the boat.

"We commend this one to Gozreh unless some other has claim upon him."

Then moves to the boat with the others.

"Hopefully I don't get river sick."

All on the boat, you head back to town quickly.

"I think you'll be fine jus don't drink tha waters."

"I can out drink a hundred dwarves on Blackjack drinks.
When I get back, I'll get a few drinks."

"Where should we land this boat on yon shore?"

"There is a dock in Falcon's Hollow that is on this same river."

"Sounds good to me. Ride the river all the way home. It'll get us there a lot faster, too."

"Sounds like a plan for certain."

Bertrand is off to check on his family and then take his thousand gold and newfound hero status and shake them in the face of the lumber boss.

Thanks for the game. It was fun, despite our mysterious vanishing companions/hallucinations.
Still, I'm not going to follow onto Kobold King. This was sort of an experiment in PbP for me and I'm not sure how much more I want to do.

That stinks, but hey it was fun!
