This could also set off some good alignment/ethos based RP. We have an interesting mix of alignments in this group, and likely some widely varying opinions on such acts as raising dead. As a LN who is more than willing to cross in LE territiry for causes he believes in, Tomlin is all about using whatever tactic anyone can dredge up.

HP 37/48 KILLED IN ACTION Human Undead Lord 6

Yeah. I figured it'd be an interesting wrench to throw in the gears. I will just go with the big wolf for now. His interest in undeath is more academic at this point, however who knows where that will stray? the last time i played a necromancer was in 3.5 and he went from Neutral at level 3 to full on Lawful Evil villain material at level 34. It all started with people persecuting him early on, hahaha.

Male Dwarf Magus (Bladebound)

I personally have no problem with it and think it rather an interesting development, but Valdr will view it unfavorably. According to the laws set down by the Tower of Heavens and the government he serves creating undead is illegal. No further detail was provided, but Valdr is all about the law and honor.

Perhaps the GM can clarify further to what extent it is illegal and what the typical legal response to it is?

Necromancy is illegal, but is not strongly enforced. Which isn't to say there are necromancers running about everywhere, but so long as it doesn't cause a big stir among the populace it tends to get ignored. This seems to stem from a combination of political maneuvering and differing opinions among the council - and a shortage of resources to inspect and follow up on every rumor floating about. Tavrus direct connection to the tower is a bit of a quandry - certainly at least some on the council know of him, but for whatever reason he is tolerated (at least for now :).

Raising the dead in the city cemetery would get one in trouble very quickly.

Question for DM: The rods that we used to transport us to just outside the farmstead, do they work from anywhere? In other words, if we were trapped in the cave but wanted to transport back to Coran, is there any reason to think we couldn't?

Nope, they work from anywhere (barring something like teleport limiting magic).

M Humanborn

quick question, for that wolf, did you want me to crunch up the stats for it or did you want to do that? i have had DMs do it both ways in the past.

If you can do it that would be great.

M Humanborn

no problem. was it a straight-out-of-the-book worg?

Yes.

Male Dwarf Magus (Bladebound)

I thought it was a Winter Worg?

Oh, yes, standard winter worg.

M Humanborn

ok i will have him whipped up before the next combat

Male Dwarf Magus (Bladebound)

Out of curiosity, how are the other groups doing?

Moving along nicely for the other groups. The merchants and rebellion are a little ahead of your group and the thieve's guild group in the time frame of things. Thieve's guild and merchant's guild are very active. The rebellion group I've been having some limited posting issues from some players.

Male Dwarf Magus (Bladebound)

It looks like we are (for the most part) an attack first, ask questions later type of party. On the plus side, material components from a dragon and dragon-scale can be quite useful.

AC 19, Hp:44/60, Ki Points Left: 1/7, Poison Doses Left: 3 Initiative+6, Fort+5, Ref+11, Will+6 (add +2 vs. Fear), CMD 17 Att: +9/+9 with swords (1d4/18-20x2) or +11 Sword, Shuriken +11 (1/x2)

@GM: I'm a little unclear where we are in the initiative order. I'm ready to take Tomlin's action whenever it's his turn.

You can go now Tomlin. The dragon took its turn entering the room and attacking Tunny. So now it is the parties turn. In the PbP format I find it is easier just to let everyone on the same side take turns in the order they post (I basically just assume that when someone posts, then everyone who was technically before them just delayed till after they moved).

This gets a little bit more complicated with multiple enemies who have different init rolls.

So if for example the init was

Tomlin
Tavrus
Bad guy #1
Tunny
Valdr
Bad guy #2
Akane
Aurelion

I'd post it as:
Tomlin and Tavrus may act, then BG1

Once Tomlin and Tavrus had posted I'd take actions for BG1 - but the order that Tomlin and Tavrus act in isn't really relevant since no bad guys get to act between them.

With BG1 completed I'd then state Tunny and Valdr may act, then BG2

Once BG2 is done
Akane, Aurelion, Tomlin, Tavrus may all act, then BG1
(for Akane and Aurelion it is of course their first round action, for Tomlin and Tavrus it would be their second round action).

There might be cases where you do want to wait for an ally to go first but don't know when you will be able to post again. You could in those cases state 'I wait till X attacks, then if the monster isn't dead yet I attack it, else I take action Z instead.'

Male Human Rogue Lvl 5

Thanks for rolling for me, GM. I apologize to everyone for missing yesterday. I don't even have a good excuse, just completely forgot. =(

And self correction, the worg is a zombie and can't move then attack since its limited to one action. Will assume Aurelion stepped out of the way.

zombies can charge but are limited to their speed, not double their speed

M Humanborn

actually i have enough onyx left to make it a skeleton, but i dont want to overrun the game with my undead, heh.

M Humanborn

not to be TOO facetious, but i hope the white dragon has a hoard rather than a horde.

Female (Kyton-Spawn) Tiefling (Synthesist) Summoner 5

Hah, tell me about it.

Male Dwarf Magus (Bladebound)

bah, I can't edit my post anymore.

M Humanborn

it wasnt a big deal. i read over it and didnt even notice for a minute or two, then i was like wait a minute....

Just FYI on the dragon treasure. Any treasure you find in service to the mages is almost always yours for the keeping. Sometimes the mages will keep a particularly rare or unique magic item, but will always compensate you for it if they do.

AC 19, Hp:44/60, Ki Points Left: 1/7, Poison Doses Left: 3 Initiative+6, Fort+5, Ref+11, Will+6 (add +2 vs. Fear), CMD 17 Att: +9/+9 with swords (1d4/18-20x2) or +11 Sword, Shuriken +11 (1/x2)

How do we want to do the divvying up of magic items? Give each to whomever makes the most sense and watch to ensure no one gets left behind? Price each to sell and those that want items can buy them from the pot? Other ideas?

As for the current list of items, Tomlin would have an interest in the Ring of Feather Fall.

HP 37/48 KILLED IN ACTION Human Undead Lord 6

I'm fine with anything. I try not to be greedy

Female (Kyton-Spawn) Tiefling (Synthesist) Summoner 5

I don't particularly mind either way. If any of you guys have strong feelings one way or the other, I'd like to hear them, though. :)

Male Human Rogue Lvl 5

Although my character would be interested in the ring as well, his personality is such that he would be very unlikely to mention interest... He would also have no feelings about how such treasures are divided among the group, so long as he gets his share.

As a player, I would highly suggest that the worth of the items be noted, and if say, Tomlin takes the ring of featherfall, then the selling worth of the ring counts as part of his share of the overall treasure. I like the idea of buying from the pot if the item is worth more than your share, as it seems the most fair. However, I'm also not greedy, so I won't complain as long as we make an effort to be fair.

M Humanborn

if a cleric can use a pearl of power, that would give Tavrus an extra cure light wounds.

but i could see the same utility in giving the magus another shocking grasp.

Spontaneous casters cannot use the pearl, but prepared casters can, so Tavrus can use it.

M Humanborn

Ok. Are there any other prepared casters? I thought Magus was a prepared caster.

Female (Kyton-Spawn) Tiefling (Synthesist) Summoner 5

Magi are prepared spellcasters. I'm the only other spellcaster as a Summoner, a spontaneous spellcaster (I hate picking spells to memorize!).

There was a spontaneous equivalent to the pearl of power, wasn't there? Or am I just misremembering?

Male Human Fighter 5

I owe everyone a HUGE apology. I've been completely checked-out from our campaign. I won't give anyone excuses - I've been an idiot. I'm really sorry. I'm gonna do my best to very involved from now on.

HP 37/48 KILLED IN ACTION Human Undead Lord 6

i was wondering who this Aurelion that was referenced was.

M Humanborn

would the worg fit in my bag of holding? otherwise i would have left him behind, unless i thought i could get away with bringing him to the tower.

i wouldn't parade it through town though, thats for sure.

It is to large to fit through the opening.

M Humanborn

ok. if i think theyll raise a big stink about taking it to my room in the tower i will leave it

Yea, that would draw a lot of unwanted attention.

Male Dwarf Magus (Bladebound)

I could definitely use the Pearl of power as well.

HP 37/48 KILLED IN ACTION Human Undead Lord 6

Ok, so how are we going to do shares?

This is not the only thing i would agree to in terms of division, but to get the wheels turning, i suggest this:

  • Add value of all money and magic items, gems, etc.
  • Divide that by number of party members.
  • That amount goes to each share, but some shares will have the magic item taking up the place of some of the money.
  • divide gems evenly among shares, favoring shares that have no magic item.
  • have people pick the share they want (so if they want the , if there is a dispute, opposed dice rolls will determine the winner.

    sound good? just my suggestion.

  • Note that the gems/jewelry can easily be converted to cash, so it doesn't need to be split into
    x gets the ruby
    y gets the emerald
    etc
you can just treat them as straight up gold coins that you can divvy evenly.

    Male Human Rogue Lvl 5

Alright, then if the checks for value of the gems was accurate, that would leave us with 11500 worth of gold, not including the items. That's about 1916 gold a piece. I have no idea what the items are worth, but there's a good chance some of them are worth more than that.

    Pearl of Power (1st) 1000gp
    Cloak of Resistance +1 1000gp
    Ring of Feather Fall 2200gp

As for the gems, I'm not much for haggling/role playing over gem prices. The value they were appraised at is the value you get to sell them for.

    Male Human Rogue Lvl 5

Alright, then this could work out easily enough, if this is how we decide to go for now. Admittedly it may not always work out this easily, but we can deal with that when it happens.

    11500 + 4200 = 15700 / 6 = 2616 gold 6 silver, and 6 copper pieces each.

So, anyone who wants an item roll for it, and if you get it subtract it's value from the total gold that you receive. Does that work?

If everyone alright with that then I'll start the rolling on the Ring of Feather Fall. If we decide something else than we can ignore this roll. 1d100 should make sure we don't run into doubles very often. =)

1d100 ⇒ 100 Now that was just sheer luck...

HP 37/48 KILLED IN ACTION Human Undead Lord 6

Just trying my luck for the cloak

    1d100 ⇒ 11

and trying my luck for the Pearl of Power

    1d100 ⇒ 1

soooooooooo looks like i will be getting the coins then hahaha

    AC 19, Hp:44/60, Ki Points Left: 1/7, Poison Doses Left: 3 Initiative+6, Fort+5, Ref+11, Will+6 (add +2 vs. Fear), CMD 17 Att: +9/+9 with swords (1d4/18-20x2) or +11 Sword, Shuriken +11 (1/x2)

I'm good with the proposed system, minus the rolling for items multiple people might want. Tunny can have the Ring of Feather Fall, but in the future I propose that if more than two people want an item, we buy a second of that item at full price and the two split the total cost. Essentially each will be getting the item at 75% of value.

HP 37/48 KILLED IN ACTION Human Undead Lord 6

but then what if the item cant be bought?

    Male Dwarf Magus (Bladebound)

I will try my luck for the pearl of power at this point.
    1d100 ⇒ 89
