Wandering Wastrel |

Wandering Wastrel ['Gus' the Righteous of Ragathiel)
"Easy there, pardner - I may be a paladin an' all, but that don't mean I got to have some fancy title, y'know? B'sides, I been called a lotta things in my time, but "Righteous" - that's a way off yet, y'know? I walk that path, but there's a lot of steps to the Promised Land..."
I couldn't see it written anywhere, but Pharasma is N, so I don't know how that works with Paladins.
I can't find the ruling (inevitably!) but as far as I recall (bearing in mind you know just how well-acquainted I am with the rules!), Paladins don't have that 'one step from deity's alignment' rule - they just have to be lawful good. Therefore, I think any non-evil deity can have paladins; even in theory Chaotic Good deities, although the potential for conflict there is hilarious...

Pharysene Ssethan |

Camris here...
Appearance:
This pale, waifish woman, her exotic blue-white hair waving in a nonexistent breeze, looks as if she might fade away into mist entirely at any minute. She is partial to Varisian fashions, with scarves and sashes and flowing skirts. Her unearthly nature becomes apparent as her clothes move and flutter in a breeze you cannot feel. When impassioned or casting, the breeze become winds that knock things over.
Personality:
She loves music and dance; there is no faster way of making friends with her. She seeks the meaning behind the riddles of the ancient sphinx.
Background:
Osirion born of wandering Sylph parents, she trained at a conservatory in Absalom. She learned of the ancient civilizations of Osirion at University and was especially interested in the Sphinx race and the conundrums they posed.
She traveled to Osirion to learn more, attaching herself to Zael the gnome sorcerer as a secretary/archivist on his expedition to Wati.

As per Core Rulebook alone and JJ posts Paladin doesn't even need to worship any Gods. Their power steam from the whole Ideal of LAW and GOOD.
As far I Know only in Pathfinder Society they are force in the One Step Only Alignment Rules. (So LN, LG e NG Gods Only).

Andrei Constantin |

Yep, Paladins have no restrictions on worship (except, obviously, evil gods). Pharasma has three main aspects: The judge of the dead, the midwife of the newborn, and the speaker of prophesy. Pharasma is neutral, but I feel a lawful good aspect can be found in that. Suffer no undead's existence, as necromancy violates the natural state of death. Protect and defend the innocent while slaying the wicked, as no man should die before his time and those who do evil bring their fate upon themselves.
Wandering Wastrel, do you mind if I tie my backstory to Gus? I'd like for us to have crossed paths on the road to paladinhood and hit it off, reuniting for this opportunity.
Character introduction:
"From the moment we were conceived, our fates are ordained. As the spring blossoms into summer, and wilts into winter, so do we mortals tread the path of time between two fixed points."
The speaker pauses, resting his white gloved hands on the lectern of the simple, plain chapel. Black robes rustle softly under carefully polished mail armor, each link shined to reflective brilliance.
"The sun rises in the east, and is daily quenched in the west. Rivers run to the sea from their headwaters. In winter, the great flocks of birds travel south, in spring north. There is a rule to every thing in creation. Feel the stirring of your heart! It vibrates to that iron string which binds all together."
The speaker tilts his head back slightly. The light from the chapel's unadorned window floods past the wide brim of the speaker's leather and velvet hat to illuminate a stern, yet not unkind face. The toils of the road have left crags down his cheeks and forehead, but his bushy sideburns and chin-strap beard are neatly trimmed. Placid blue eyes take in the congregation that listens to his sermon.
"From the moment I was born, cradled by the Midwife's hands as I fought, squalling, for my first breaths, I was destined for service to Our Lady of Graves. From the morning I first donned my habit and opened The Bone Land in a Spiral, I was destined for the road of paladinhood. So was my dear friend here, Gus of Ragathiel, though he does not agree and claims his struggles as his own. He treads a different road than I do, then most do, but its start and end are the same."
The speaker smiles gently at the strapping half orc in the front row of pews.
"From the moment I first strapped on my sword, it was my path to cleanse the world of the taint of undeath, those vile souls who dare challenge the Lady's domain over the Judgement - and those poor victims denied their rightful rest by the predations of necromancers, the festering jackals of the graveyard."
"All things are ordained - we of Pharasma seek only to do our Lady's bidding and restore the natural order. Take heart, my friends, for the opening of these tombs portends great service to Pharasma. Please, allow me to express my gratitude to be allowed to speak today. I will close with a passage from The Bone Land - 'And You as Well Must Die.'"
"And you as well must die, belovèd dust,
And all your beauty stand you in no stead;
This flawless, vital hand, this perfect head,
This body of flame and steel, before the gust
Of Death, or under her autumnal frost,
Shall be as any leaf, be no less dead
Than the first leaf that fell, this wonder fled,
Altered, estranged, disintegrated, lost.
Nor shall my love avail you in your hour.
In spite of all my love, you will arise
Upon that day and wander down the air
Obscurely as the unattended flower,
It mattering not how beautiful you were,
Or how belovèd above all else that dies."

gold: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 2, 3) = 15x10=150gp
Andrei Constantin is a simple and straightforward man. To him, life is explained in its entirety by the holy texts of Pharasma. Polite to a fault, Andrei tries hard to be pleasant and gentle, even while sternly admonishing errant souls. He is normally soft-spoken, but can become bombastic when delivering sermons.
Andrei was found in the wild as an infant in Ustalav, and inexplicably speaks Sylvan. He is terribly embarrassed by his origins, and conceals them from all but his closest friends. Andrei showed natural strength and genial nature as a youth, and was taken in from an orphanage by the church of Pharasma. Andrei found his calling in the church, interpreting prophesy, escorting midwives and doctors about their duties, and guarding the cemeteries against restless dead. As a young paladin, Andrei crossed paths with another crusading soul: Gus, paladin of Ragathiel. Despite their differing faiths, they hit it off immediately and stayed in contact through their training. Andrei took the opportunity of the opening of the tombs to take leave of his home church and perform a pilgrimage, culminating in cleansing these tombs of restless spirits as a token of his devotion.

Sure Andrei, no problem!
Gus whistles softly as Andrei finishes his sermon: "Dang, but y'always could talk a good one - not that I buy that fatalism schtick for one moment, y'understand... Fate is what we make through our choices, an' won't nobody persuade me otherwise." This is a conversation that has been going for as long as their friendship, and neither is going to budge; Gus acknowledges as much with a grin, and moves on. "But yer heart's in the right place, that's for sure, an' I'd be glad to work 'longside you agin."

Gordon Harwick |

Tied my story to Morena. Updated this in my backstory as well but here it is to play out. Still have some more cleaning up of the profile to do.
***
Gordon cups his hand over his eyes to shield them from the midday sun. I always forgot how hot and oppressively bright it is here. He scans the streets of Wati, looking for a cafe or a tavern. First things first, Gordon. You need to get someone in your employ. Someone who knows these streets and which rumors are just for tourists. As he takes in the people walking along he mentally rejects them as prospects. Too old. Too fat. Too beautiful. Cursed city, is there noone unobtrusive here? Ahhhh, what's this? A small girl? Orphan maybe? She may be perfect.
He quickens his step until he can get close to her without scaring her. "Young girl, would you like to make a few gold? I need some eyes and ears in the city...that don't talk to anyone else. How's that sound?"

GM: After I saw your submission date I decided to give it a bit more thought and came up with what I think is a much more interesting (and better fitting) submission. I'm working on the crunch and have another question--> When you said on SRD did you mean d20pfsrd? (There's an archetype that's up there I would like (but don't HAVE) to use, but it's not on the paizo PRD).
The archetype in question is this one LINK. (I understand that bonuses in forests are useless; I'm willing to take that loss if you don't want to make "Forest Ghost" into "Desert Ghost" because I think the archetype fits the character very well.)

I think that I, too, shall withdraw.
I'm feeling overloaded enough right now that I just took 3 hours off from work to do nothing, and I found myself looking over this thread again, trying to consider what personality (and then what skillset) to offer as an addition to your existing group.
I'm not sure I can meet my own standards, let alone the competitive level this thread should generate in your requested time frame.
Thank you very much for the invitation.

Z'ael Breccia |

I'm working up a back story and should have something for others to play off of by tomorrow. Just wanted to provide a bit of insight into Z'ael's personality for the time being.
Z'ael is good natured and overly optimistic. He constantly points out the bright side of situations, regardless of how obvious it may be. More to the point, he is a bit of a Captain Obvious, but approaches this personality defect from a child's perspective, as opposed to one who constantly tries to avail others of their "superior" intellect.
Sprinkle a bit of ADHD with a dollop of loyalty and should have a good idea of the type of person you're dealing with.
I'm choosing to play a happy-go-lucky Chaotic Good pc (for what seems like the first time in an eternity) frankly, because I need the practice. With any luck, a little Z'ael will rub off on me.

After Gus and Andrei take a seat in local tavern at the bar, Gus hears a someone he knows
"So you finally made it here. Brennan's going to be here in a bit as he
found an old friend, who he needed to chat with."
Gus can tell that she stopped her singing for the crowd likely 5 minutes ago. As she is still wearing hear singing dress.
"Oh where are my manners."
She bows to Andrei with a kind smile.
"You can call me, Asta."
She then un-bows and puts her right hand on her the right side of her hip.
and extends her left hand palm up
"And you good sir are?"

Aardvark DM |

Just to be clear. I do not require the in-recruitment RP. I have played with all of you, and am familiar enough with each person's style. I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't, just that I don't want anyone to feel that they should for it to make a difference.
Bigrin42, of course you are still in, you have one of the reserved slots. I got word today from Adamant, that he will officially be out, so the 4 reserved are who will be in for sure, and I will only be selecting 2 recruits.
So far the only question I have is for Shalafi. Do you have a general background idea for the character, or are you still working on it?
Odea, yes, I have no problem changing the terrain of the Archetype to desert.
Azure, thank you for maintaining the character lists. One thing I did wrong initially, though was misspell a few. It should be 'Morana' (middle vowel is an 'A', and 'Gordon Harwick" (no 'D' in the last name). Also, you used Asta again in a name, does it mean something?
To all, I suggest, strongly, that your free outfit be a hot weather outfit. I will be using heat, hunger, and thirst rules. So you might want to be protected from the elements. Any additional outfits tend to be heavy. I may not fully enforce the coin weight rules, but I expect you as the player to be cognizant of whether you are carrying 5 lbs of copper (250 cp), and if it's worth it, if and when you find large coin hoards.

Z'ael Breccia |

I can't believe I'm here. Arriving by boat, Z'ael, walks the streets of Wati's Vein district, wide-eyed, blurting out recognizable architectural styles with great enthusiasm. I wonder how one gets to the Necropolis? Gosh it's hot! I wonder if it's like this all of the time. Bumping into an armored halh-orc (Gus)... Oh! Excuse me sir, I didn't see you there. Can you believe this place? It's like, freakin amazing! I mean... just look at the lines and the level of detail in carvings. See how each window is adorned. This is great! From what I hear, the Necropolis puts this part of the city to shame. Gosh it's hot! Aren't you hot in all of that scale mail? Trying to adjust the peculiar head wrap (common to the area) so that it keeps the sweat from stinging his eyes, without waiting for a reply Z'ael asks... How do I look? Ridiculous, right? That's okay. This bedsheet of robe really is much cooler than the wool I'm used to wearing. You really ought to get with the program if you plan on staying here long. Gosh it's hot. Can you believe how hot it is? You don't say much, do you? Some people say I talk too much, but how do you expect to have a conversation with nothing but silence? Right? So, uh... I'm Z'ael. Z'ael abruptly stops talking, clearly expecting a reply from the half-orc.

Quick question for Morana. Does she wear the eidolon pretty much always, thus most people think she's a heavily armored man, or does she only wear it when she expects trouble (due to the 1 minute summon time)?
Tenro, I have no problem with carts, horses, mules, or anything of the sort. Just bear in mind the animals may be skittish (unless war-trained), and require handle animal checks for certain tasks, and carts are bulky and limit speed. These are just some of the drawbacks you might find with the extra carrying capabilities. Also, if you do have animals/mounts, I expect them to be tracked (hp, ac, actions, etc).

Quick question for Morana. Does she wear the eidolon pretty much always, thus most people think she's a heavily armored man, or does she only wear it when she expects trouble (due to the 1 minute summon time)?
She'd only like it when she's expecting trouble, as she'd try to capitalize on the fact that her appearance causes people to underestimate her.
As for the mention of employ - she wouldn't accept an obviously unequal relationship without some sort of real benefit that he could offer her. Being that we have the same amount of wealth, I'm not sure that he could, honestly.

Oh, I hope he is interested in letting me join. I'm really good in the desert. I should say that. I'll ask him, "Do you want a desert guide in your party? I'm local and I'm really good in the desert." I just need to find him again. He was staying at that one inn that takes foreigners.
She checks her adjusted costume in her mirror, then slips it back into her belt pouch before starting across the busy streets of Wati toward the inn where she last saw "him"--Gus.

Kragmaw "Gus" Gutsticker |

Odea - interesting concept! Half-orcs aren't usually the subject of 'crushes' so I'm intrigued...
However, Gus is all too aware that the fate of most paladins is an early death and an unmarked grave; he's definitely not looking for complications like romance - plus his past makes him reluctant to be vulnerable to anyone. It would therefore be unrequited. Could make for some great RP though.
Z'ael - like the character! I could do with some happy-go-lucky rubbing off on me too; but aren't we supposed to know each other already? I may have misunderstood this.

Aardvark DM |

As long as you all find a way to decide to be a group before the AP begins, how long before doesn't matter much to me.
Again, it is easier to tie history together between the 4 reserved spots, and once selection is made it can be finalized with all 6.
Also, since it encourages a team name, you all can feel free to brainstorm on that during the slow slog of recruitment down time.

Kragmaw "Gus" Gutsticker |

As long as you all find a way to decide to be a group before the AP begins, how long before doesn't matter much to me.
Understood, thanks
The 6 ft. 4 inch half-orc looks down bemusedly at the gnome that has just walked into him, and chuckles; a deep, rumbling sound. "Have to say, there ain't many that accuse me o' bein' the silent type, er -Z'ael, is it? Call me Gus; it ain't 'zackly my real name, but it's what I go by. I'm real pleased to meet you, I was just wanderin' 'round same as you, tryin' to get a feel for the place - mostly what I'm feelin' is hot, though - I might have to change into somethin' more like what you're wearin' - pretty smart of you t'adopt the local garb straight off. So tell me, what brings you t'these parts?"

Raymond Moreau |

The trip from Augustana to Sothis was an amazing experience. Clear blue skies and wisps of white clouds were to be seen above and they gave Raymond a blank canvas to paint his thoughts upon. Not exactly blessed as a poet, he scribbled away in his small notebook nonetheless and it was then, after he had gone through this routine for a couple of days, that a bulky figure with an, to Raymond at least, outlandish accent asked him "what you be scribblin' in that book o' yers? A simple enough question that planted the seed of friendship. The days that followed they spoke about life, plans and how life always got in the way of plans. Gus was a man on a mission, guided on his path by Ragathiel. Raymond was a man on a mission, to see his pockets filled with gold, guided by nothing but his own ambition and skills.
Raymond is an easy-going kind of guy who, while loving the idea of making it big time, is someone who highly values friendship and would do anything to help a friend. Lemme know if this is something you can work with.

Z'ael Breccia |

Z'ael - like the character! I could do with some happy-go-lucky rubbing off on me too; but aren't we supposed to know each other already? I may have misunderstood this.
You're right. I wasn't intending my last post to serve as my backstory per se, but just to dangle a line to see if you'd bite on a little rp snack that would help meet Aard's requirement that we have worked together before. I may have put our initial meeting too close to the start of the adventure, but I think there is room to backtrack.

Z'ael Breccia |

Ooo... a pseudonym, cooool! Maybe I should use one too. Do you think I should have one? You never can be too careful. Maybe Zazzle... Oo I like the sound of that! Yeah, that sounds... wait! How will anyone know of my sure-to-be life changing discoveries if I don't use my real name? Plus, if I lie about my name, then what else would I lie about? I'd be dis-crediting myself. The revelation shows in the disappointment written across Z'ael's face. Quickly working through the logic, Z'ael narrows his eyes in a cutting glance at Gus. Not wanting to insult the large Half-Orc, Z'ael decides to leave it alone. Seeing an opening to change the subject... I can show you where I bought my sheets. I'm sure they have a enough material to clothe even someone of your size. Do you get nose bleeds a lot, being so high up? If you didn't before, I bet you will now. It is awfully dry here. And hot too. Gosh its hot! I was thinking, I could use your help if you've nothing better to do. It's always good to have a friend of size around. I bet you can carry all sorts of tools. I'm here to study the building techniques of the ancients and possibly put them to use back home. Whispering loud enough for everyone to hear... We can split anything we find 50/50. My master says that ancient pottery and knick knacks can fetch as much as a few gold, depending on the rarity.

Z'ael Breccia |

Backstory: Z'ael apprenticed to an earth blooded sorcerer, was bitten by the Osirian bug the first time he saw a painting of Wati. After thousands of non-stop questions about the ancient Osirians , Mistrzem Krypta sent him to go find the answers. Z'ael booked passage on the first ship heading towards Wati. Several ports and ship changes later, Z'ael finally arrived in Wati. Finding companionship and willing ear in a Half-Orc paladin, Z'ael explored the city, taking in the sights and basking in the architectural bliss that Wati offered. Meeting new friends along the way, Z'Ael and company forged a congenial support group, helping each other further their individual goals.

Kragmaw "Gus" Gutsticker |

Gus smiles easily at Z'ael's discomfort: "It's alright, I ain't easily offended - and you're right, many folk that hide their names do so from bad motives. In my case, I took a new name 'cos the old one didn't suit me no more: it belonged to my old life, not my new life. I'd be happy to help you: I'm here in service to m'Lord Ragathiel, but until somethin' comes up for my attention, I have time to spare. Now, why don't you show me that store where they sell sensible clothes for this here hot weather..."
