Greetings,

My name is Sir Thelvian Wodewood, Scholar and Collector of All Things Extraordinaire.

As you may have heard, I have recently returned to Pavaleau after my latest expedition to the Tombs of Ca’lajyt, where numerous wonders did I unearth. As you are all prominent members of the Society of Horizons, I felt it would be considerate of me to invite you all to attend an evening of merriment and discovery at my home of Wodewood Manor.

The evening begins promptly at 18:00 on the 7th of Whitewood. Come as you are. Weapons will be collected at the door.

To the pleasure of seeing you there,

Sir Thelvian Wodewood

=======

This is a short campaign that should take very little time to complete. The players will participate in a fancy evening full of mystery and intrigue, interact with the interesting locals of Pavaleau* and be part of a pseudo-murder mystery type game.

While this is not a combat heavy game, you can prepare your characters as you see fit.

To simplify matters, characters are created as follows:

- 3rd Level Characters
- Human, Elf, Dwarf, Half-Elf, Halfling and Gnome are allowd races.
- 15 Point Buy
- 3,000 starting gold pieces
- 2 Traits
- HP are calculated as: Max at 1st, half +1 at every other level
- No Hero Points
- Clerics: Choose a god as you would in any Golarion setting.
- I recommend Diplomacy, Bluff, Intimidate, Perception, Stealth, Sense Motive and Knowledge skills.

======

I have not decided upon a total number of players, that remains to be seen. Once I have made my selection in a few days I will send each player the Map of the Manor as well as the list of all the guests for the evening so you can familiarize yourself with them.

To a fine night of dancing, dining and murder!

Very interesting, I'll need to figure a good character out.

Make them as interesting as possible. This is a gathering of a group of very eccentric characters and I strongly encourage characters who will be able to interact nicely with the other PCs and NPCs.

In fact, if there are some additional races or material you'd like to use, let me know.

I'm quite excited for this. One quick question though: how do you feel about some strong min-maxing for character sake. For example, 20 wisdom but 7 intelligence representing an incredibly devout and wise cleric who can't read, write or use correct grammar?

For this kind of scenario it won't matter too much, but be careful of not being able to read and write.

Also, feel free to create a background for your character, inventing any names, places or things you want. Should give us some idea as to your character.

I'd like a minimum of four players however, any less and it would be a shame. I think I can also go up to 8.

Why is this not getting more hits? This looks awesome!

Thank you very much for saying so!

Well, everyone let me know when they have completed characters.

Wow this looks awesome! Here's the character I came up with, quite the little detective she is lol. I'd love to hear feedback!

Ooooh, now this sounds intriguing. Definitely dotting this for interest.

Well, that brings us to 5 so far (assuming everyone interested makes a character), so we can definitely get a game going.

I'll take interest in this on soul account of I have something moderately interesting to put it in.

The only downside is he's an NE.

Oh. Oh. I definitely have a bard idea for this...

I was wondering when someone was going to make the detective!

huehuehue >.> i normally play either the dedicated frontliner or the dedicated spellcaster, so i figured this would be a fun change of pace!

I like playing the guy that's under suspicion, hence the NE.

Is this an in town pbp? Could we have traveled here to live? Visit? Whatever the case may be?

I've got this guy who I think might work. Iozef

The unspoilered one is the actual character. The spoilered one was for another game.

And I'm not sold on the spells at this time. And I also don't have all the money spent.

I can tell you, he is not built for combat by any means. So I'm hoping when you say combat light, you mean really light. :P

Ok, here's my character. I still need to add the fluff into his profile, but the basics are this:

Backstory And Reason For Being At The Party
Neville is the Half-Orc child of the now retired 'Head Of The Guard' in Pavaleau. Due to his mixed blood, Neville grew up suffering mocking at the hands of many in the town, especially those children of the extreme upperclass. This bore into Neville a righteous yearning for justice, and so he followed in his father's footsteps and became a 'Copper'.

Neville is fastidious in fulfilling his duty, and years of work in the guard has made him perceptive of how the criminal mind works. Indeed, sometimes a tingling up his neck warns him that his subconscious has found a link or clue that he hasn't consciously noticed yet. He had one such 'tingle' when Sir Thelvian applied to the local judiciary about noise violation waivers for his upcoming party. Sure that any party Sir Thelvian host would lead to some disorder, Neville is determined to arrive at the party to ensure that good peace and order remains in his town.

So I'm assuming that no one's fully against the "LE" guy, right?

No?

Then I would like everyone to meet the Cleric of Zyphus

Reskinned Halaea as a Gnome Celebrity! Here she is, doing a little more background, too.

Glad to see such a wave of interest. Makes my morning all the more wonderful. Give me a bit to check through the characters.

And there is no alignment restriction whatsoever.

So far it seems that there are five completed characters:

Aeyra: Rogue (Investigator)
Iozef Kolnikov: Cleric (Cloistered Cleric)
Sergeant Neville: Inquisitor
Geoffrey Gadron: Cleric (Theologian)
Halaea: Bard (Celebrity)

While I haven't crunched the numbers completely, they all look in good shape and form and I'm willing to already accept them as players.

I'll leave the recruitment open until Wednesday night.

For time concerns, I'm in GMT -5, Montreal, Canada.

As for Javell's question, yes, you can very well live in Pavaleau (pronounced Pavalo if anyone's not quite familiar with french).

Any questions can be posted below.

To keep with the French theme, I might just have a police hound named Phydeaux.

Gmt+11 here

Utc-7 here! Asia, whaddup!

GMT -6, I think. Central Standard Time. The whole Daylight Savings Time bit throws me off.

Hi if there is room I would love to join in.

I was thinking either a fellow Bard or an Enchanter.

I can post two or three times a day, a little bit less on the weekends.

I'm in New York but post very late in the night or early morning.

Let me know if there is room but otherwise have a ton of fun guys.

Still room, it's a small area and the more the merrier. I usually post 1-2 a day, with some days where I'll have free time and do burst responses.

So we're all ok with the Lawfully evil cleric, right?

As for why his stats look like that, I made him middle aged, so I adjusted the stats accordingly (-3 physical +2 mental)

Hiya,

I have been viewing this come up to and thought you simply need to add a Monk, having the philosophic perspective and a balance in life.

I am therefore toying around with a character concept for a monk of the Sacred mountain. I do not have access to herolab so making the character do take a bit of time. However I am thinking he is along these lines.

Kiendao Chen is a younger (hu)man, early to mid twenties, having studied the ways his temple for years. Along side the strict codex of hard work and religion he have developed a fascination with antiquities specially porcelain. Knowing Sir Wodewood is somewhat a collector of well pretty much anything, Kiendao have decided to pay the collector a visit in hope to discover some long lost and interesting antique relics.

As a monk he is as mentioned taught the ways of the sacred mountain. The philosophy of the sacred mountain will focus on a strong firm foundation that reaches to the sky and the divinity the dwell above.

Skills will therefore also reflect that with Climb, Knowledge religion and of course profession Porcelain artist.

Anyway I will try to build him today.

I may also be interested in this... Will contemplate.

How many people are you looking at allowing in? This seems almost like the kind of game where you could potentially have a lot of players who interact with one another and NPCs.

Silver Crusade

I think GM said they'd go up to 8?

Or more.

I would like to join!

My character here is standing in for his patron whom recently passed away, a gnome explorer that brought him back from the jungles to civilize him after having been saved from the half-orc's savage kin.

I think it would be humorous to see how awkwardly he fits in among the high class.

About as well as the undertaker.

The undertaker being creepy, yet well-spoken and LE doesn't exactly help, though.

At least the cop is LN.

I've decided: you need a crusading, charismatic, yet rather moronic Lawful Stupid paladin. His Lawful Stupidity shouldn't get everybody killed in this situation--considering there presumably won't be a ton of evil cultists around. The only issue would be that LE undertaker, but I think you'd have to be level 4 to pop up on the detect evil radar.

Hm... maybe an antipaladin instead. Also incredibly charming, of course.

EDIT: It's 5 HD that are required to have an evil aura if you're just aligned, but since you're a cleric... Grr. Either antipally or back to the drawing board.

Loup Blanc wrote:

You can't exactly kill a lawful evil for simply being lawful good, can you?

I mean, I would have to do evil in front of you for you to go "Holier than thou" all over my face.
Option B: I buy like 3 potions of hide alignment, because I know there will be good-natured people.

Other than that, I'm not sure.

Also remember paladins have to actually CAST detect evil. They're not just walking beacons of sunshine and stupidity :p

Aeyra wrote:

... Most of the time.

Oh, see, the main thing is the RP. This guy WILL be a walking beacon of sunshine and stupidity. The kind of guy that stories are written and told about, so people think he's great, but when they actually meet him, he's kind of an idiot.

He'd definitely be the sort to detect evil on everybody. He might even say, "Detect evil!" when he does it, and smite without question if it dings. He's THAT kind of paladin.

But I'm thinking the antipaladin could be a lot of fun to play, so I might go with that.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You've never truly lived till you slip a Smite evil into a pillow fight.

I've been meaning to play an Antipaladin who stupidly thinks he's a paladin. He lays on hands and is confused when his patient gets worse, he casts "detect evil" and is confused when only his team mates ping but the giant devil in from of him doesn't.

Could be a bit of fun, Although I don't know if its mechanically possible nor how DM would want a lawful good Antipaladin played :P

Currently I have had exams and a lot of work to be done so I'll give everyone until Friday to finish up and finalize character submissions.

Good luck with exams and stuff! :) I may tweak my character to play the violin instead of comedy ... or maybe both eventually. HRM.
