Why is being paralyzed better than being unconscious / asleep?

Strangely, being paralyzed only makes you flat-footed, but does not incur the same -4 to AC that being asleep or unconscious does. Any specific reason for this?

And why would you not lose any Dexterity bonus to AC for these conditions?

Wearing some armor caps dexterity modifier to AC because it hampers movement, but being unable to move at all somehow still allows a person to benefit from a high dexterity?

As someone who experienced sleep paralysis, I can tell you that is same as completely helpless.

Your dex should be count as 0(-5 modifier).

And all attacks should be insta-crits.

Or "coup de grace" if they put it in.

Snickersnax's post makes no sense to me. The first line is "why would you lose your DEX?" followed by an argument for why you should.

I think the -4 for being unconscious is because you're prone.

Prone is completely different, e.g. it actually increases you AC vs ranged attacks. (Funnily even if the shooter is right next to you)
