I love that Starfinder has streamlined reloading but I'm struggling to find anything about readily available in terms of grabbing an item.
I can't find what action it is to retrieve things in the first place, or any sort of inbuilt ammo storage on armour. Does this mean that all ammo/batteries you want to be readily available needs a corresponding Gear Clamp?

The way reloading is worded your ammo could be at the bottom of a sack slung over your shoulder and would not have an effect on time or actions.
In another thread I proposed a combat harness as a new piece of gear. It would add 1 to St for purposes of encumbrance, stacking with backpacks. Hold up to 10 items of "L" or "-" bulk and count as having quickdraw for held items. This would have no effect on ammo but would help with grenades. Price in the 300-500 cr range.

It does state "readily available" which I would say wouldn't include at the bottom of a sack. The only thing I can find that would make something readily available is to either already be holding it or it to be on a Gear Clamp, but that add a lot of cost at least early to being able to reload easily.

I think starfinder moved away a little bit from the detailed equipment stats/tracking/boni of pathfinder and let room for more telling.
So In my game I would "rule" that you can hold a normal amount of clips "ready available" (I would say 3-5).
So far we not came into a situation where this was relevant. ;)

Have you seen modern battle rattle? Not unusual for infantry to have 8-10 magazines. When I deployed we carried 5-6 and were in an area not to see combat.
Your numbers may work with Laser or other energy weapons but for slug throwers it is very low.

Remember, a Starfinder combat lasts a minute tops. It's OK Corral-style, not 3+ hours of house-to-house BS.
