General Discussion

I keep wondering if Light and Gravity/Entropy will be the only things Solarians can channel, or if in the future they'll get more option.

I have this image in my head of a Solarian that channels ionizing radiation instead of light, instead of a miniature star it creates a nuclear blast!

What other cool "elements" do you think a Solarian could end up being given the future? Time perhaps? Force, even?

Since the Solarian seems to work off the balance of the two forces, it would seem they wouldn't add new forces but maybe new ways to utilize the energy one way or another. I know in one of the play tests, the Dwarf Solarian did a sort of super-nova like explosion ability.

If they did add a new type, it would need to a paired set so they could shift back and forth. It's hard to say though without seeing the full set of abilities the Solarian will have.

A) I would definetely get onboard with additional sources of Solarian power; fire/water, Earth/Air, Bio/Tech maybe? lots to explore there.

B)

umm... wait, isnt that the same thing already though?

The two classes I miss the most are monks and kineticists, and solarion seems like the most likely to fill in for both. We've seen a little bit of energy attuned, but none of gravity attuned solarion powers. I really want a solarion preview, but it's hard to say what can be done to tweak the power sources without seeing more about what the core class does.

Yes, i am very interested in the kinetimonedi class. I could easily see them releasing an alternate class option to replace the Positive-star/negative-gravity... thematically at least. Its all rather moot until we see how it is implemented into the class i suppose.

The miniature star pulls enemies towards it every round and deals fire damage in a radius around itself. So no, it's not.

That's how the default solarian works, but the default solarian can still choose to only ever use one of its two elements and not touch the other. A solarian with only one element wouldn't be any different from a default solarian that chooses not to use Light or not to use Gravity.

Functionally a nuclear blast would be represented with lots of fire damage and a save vs. radiation damage, no? What we saw seemed perfectly appropriate for its level and will probably scale up from there.

Wait, when was that stated? The last i heard, the Twitch playtest, it sounded pretty clear that the Solarian could choose either element to channel but would have to reset their energy attunement each time they did.

Which is not "functionally the same" as the solarian's miniature star.

When was what stated? That you're not forced to use all your class features? Nothing forces a Solarian to use all of their powers. A Solarian that wants to be entirely light themed can simply choose not to use any of his gravity powers and to always attune to light in combat.

I misinterpreted your statement and believed you were stating that Solarians had to choose one or the two paths and were locked into that path for the duration of their career. whoops.

Oh, ok. XD
