In society play during your down time can you find a caster with a given spell and, pay him the going rate to add spells to your spell book . Is there an additional cost or can you take 10 or 20 behind the scenes for any rolls needed?

You end up paying 150% the normal cost of scribing scrolls when doing it between games. The normal cost for scribing and the 50% fee for the spellcaster loaning you their spellbook.

Technically, you can make no purchases 'between' adventures...

They must, per PFS rules, be made at the table; before, during, and/or after the scenario, and in front of/through the GM.

To save time at the table however, you can write down all the purchases you'd like to make ahead of time and then show the GM the list.
