Tavern Brawler feat question

Advice and Rules Questions

Improvised Weapon Mastery says:

Spoiler:
You can turn nearly any object into a deadly weapon, from a razor-sharp chair leg to a sack of flour.

Prerequisites: Catch Off-Guard or Throw Anything, base attack bonus +8.

Benefit: You do not suffer any penalties for using an improvised weapon. Increase the amount of damage dealt by the improvised weapon by one step (for example, 1d4 becomes 1d6) to a maximum of 1d8 (2d6 if the improvised weapon is two-handed). The improvised weapon has a critical threat range of 19–20, with a critical multiplier of ×2.

so, if i took the Tavern Brawler archetype for Brawler, what would my damage for Improvised weaponry be by, say, 10th level? would it be a d8 as the Mastery feature the archetype grants, or would it be capped by the feat, or would it be amplified by the combination of class and feat?

It would be the higher of the two. Normally, your improvised weapon damage is capped at whatever the GM says is reasonable, (probably 1d6). With Improvised Weapon Mastery, your normal improvised weapon damage is capped at 1d8 or 2d6. Tavern Brawler would let you replace the damage if your unarmed strike damage (-4 levels) is as good as or better than the regular damage.

thanks. working on a build with it, and taking a VMC (Alchemist,) so im going to be fairly feat depleted. wanted to make sure i wasnt burning one on something i didnt need.
