Blind fight and dispacement

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

Displacement states "The subject of this spell appears to be about 2 feet away from its true location. The creature benefits from a 50% miss chance as if it had total concealment. Unlike actual total concealment, displacement does not prevent enemies from targeting the creature normally."

Blind Fight states "In melee, every time you miss because of concealment (see Combat), you can reroll your miss chance percentile roll one time to see if you actually hit."

If a character with Blind Fight misses due to displacement (which technically doesn't grant concealment), does Blind Fight allow a reroll of the miss chance?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yup, because of the clause in Displacement stating "as if it had concealment".

Displacement is one of those spells that I always wish had been written better. How does it interact with other abilities related to concealment?

Can a rogue sneak attack against someone with Displacement? Displacement says you can target them normally, but you cannot sneak attack someone with total concealment.

You cannot take attacks of opportunity against someone with total concealment, either. Can you make an AoO against someone with Displacement?

Where do you draw the line between, "This works because it acts as if it had concealment" and, "This doesn't work because it's not *actually* concealment"?

The spell description draws that line for you, between two different clauses:

#1 The creature benefits from a 50% miss chance as if it had total concealment. #2 Unlike actual total concealment, displacement does not prevent enemies from targeting the creature normally.

So, in clause #1 we can tell that the 50% miss chance is "as if it had total concealment". Anything dealing with miss chances from total concealment, like Blind-Fight, or Faerie Fire, or the inability to Sneak Attack, will work as normal.

In clause #2 we see the exception to this general circumstance. Normally, a creature with a 50% miss chance from total concealment cannot be targeted. With Displacement, the creature can still be targeted.
