Items on Chronicle Sheets (Noob questions)

Pathfinder Society

My understanding is that a character can always purchase items valued at under 750gp regardless of Fame or PP. Is this the case or have I experienced a catastrophic reading comprehension failure?

If my interpretation is accurate, what is the point of the items valued at less than 750gp available for purchase on a Chronicle sheet? For instance, a potion of Barkskin appears on my Hunter's sheet from her very first session. At 300gp, wouldn't I have been able to buy it even without this particular Chronicle sheet provided I had the gold to afford it?

Also, can things on one character's Chronicle sheet be bought by another one of my character's since the Chronicles are kind of attached to me as a player rather than to each of my individual characters? It seems clear that the items and boons from the top half of the Chronicle are character specific but is the list of equipment on the bottom half available to only that character as well?

This is not the case. If he has less than 5 Fame, he can only purchase Always Available items and items on the character's chronicle sheets.

No. Chronicles are specific to the character who earned them or was assigned them. A few boons carry over between characters and these are described explicitly on the chronicle or in the scenario concerned.

born_of_fire,

Thank you for posting this question. Items can be purchased in any of three ways.

1.) Chronicle Sheets - Must have the gold available but they are not subject to the fame requirements.

2.) Always available list - In the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play on page 23, there is a listing of items that are considered always available. These items can be purchased at anytime and are not subject to fame requirements.

3.) Any equipment that is allowed by the Additional Resources listing is only subject to the fame listing.

There is a prestige award that allows you to purchase a single item at 750 gp or less for 2 PP. Essentially if the items is not on the chronicle or on the always available list, you have to have the fame and the gold to purchase the item.

On the last question, the items on the chronicle sheet can only be purchased by the character being attached to the sheet.

I hope this helps clear things up.

There are 4 ways to make an item available

1) Its on the always available list. (bigger deal for fighting types)

2) Prestige point purchases let you get anything from your faction up to a certain point in exchage for Prestige. 2pp= 750. This is probably where you're getting the 750 gp idea from. This circumvents the normal fame mechanic.

3) Chronicle sheet loot, which is kind of irrelevant because of..

4) Fame. (Its gonna live forever)

Yes, there are a lot of low cost items that have no business being on a chronicle sheet. Campaign leadership has noticed and has been putting less irrelevant junk on the sheets to save space for boons in latter seasons.

Catastrophic reading comprehension failure it is then. Hehe. Apparently, I need to review the always available list.

Thanks for the prompt replies!
