"Wet Cleanup on Aisle 3," or "Shopping for Villains"

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Long-ish-time lurker, first-time poster. I just want to say what a pleasant place this forum is, occupied by such polite and undoubtedly attractive people. Now that I've warmed you up, on to the question!

Let's say early in a game the Villain escapes to the General Store; the Henchman is still in there; higher up, in fact. Later, someone defeats the Henchman and successfully closes the Store. Everything must go! …Except the Villain.

But what happens to the "On Closing" stuff?

Say you get 4 items put into the General Store. Do they get shuffled in with the Villain? Do they all go on top?

If the former, what about the "top" card the closer's supposed to get straightaway? What if the Villain's on top? Should you take one item, then shuffle the rest in with the Villain?

Just looking for clarification on the proper order in which this particular situation should resolve.

Thanks in advance!

If you find any villains while searching the deck after fulfilling the closing requirement or defeating a villain (some scenarios have multiple villains), the location stays open...so no "when permanently closed" effects happen...and all cards EXCEPT any villains get banished. So you will be left with an open location with only one or more villains remaining.

Note that even if there is another villain keeping the location from permanently closing after defeating a villain, the location IS temporarily closed, so the villain you defeated cannot escape back into it.

So wait, you're telling me we should do what the rulebook says? OK, I guess we could give it a try…

Derp.

Thanks for the eye-opener, csouth!
