Orc and Goblin interactions

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hey,

I'm running a Rise of the Runelords campaign, and I'm wanting to know how Orcs and Golbins interact with each other.

I've replaced the Rusty Dragon with my own Tavern, and I've replaced Ameiko with my PC from the previous campaign our group had place for almost 4 months.

The replacement is a Half-Orc named Malog, who is fiercly strong, but very stupid. (int 8, str 19). He's been kidnapped, to serve as the plot device to get the players into the GlassWorks.

If you are one of my PC's before Monday 24th feb 2014, don't read this.:

The half Orc find's the wee little Goblins utterly adorable, as though they were some kind of bunny/kitten hybrid. He refuses to do anything that would harm one of the funny little darlings.

The Goblins are insulted by being petted, and loath having faces made at them, but think they can get Malog to do their bidding due to his obvious stupidity. They often bite, scratch and strike him, which has utterly no affect and makes Malog giggle. Which enrages them further, but they keep trying.

However I can't find any official info on the real interactions between the two races.

As for Malog, he's one of about five recycled PC characters we're using to introduce familiarity, and make PC's care about events their characters are meant to care about.

On Golarion, orcs and goblins don't interact very often because they inhabit very different regions.

Goblins tend to be extremely hostile to anyone who's not a goblin, and orcs tend to be extremely hostile to anyone who's not an orc, so interactions between the two races probably tend towards being homicidal.

RotRL spoiler:
Are you still using Tsuto, or has he been replaced? The only reason Ameiko's taken alive is that Tsuto's the boss of the goblins, and he wants her alive. Why would Tsuto want to spare Malog's life?

Its really a case of who is in a position to be the bigger bully. With no one telling them not to they will kill maim or do anythingvthey can get away with.

You gave basically no info about this Half-Orc Bar owner, but considering he's running a bar in Sandpoint, I don't see why this Half-Orc guy wouldn't view the Goblins exactly like any Human in town would. Other than Belkzen where full Orcish warlords reign supreme and set the cultural context, Half-Orcs will pretty much fit in within the dominant Human cultural norm. (In Belkzen, Goblins seem to be the wretched of the wretched, and there is no reason for anybody to humor them or treat them well) I don't want to rag on your set-piece, but it doesn't really make sense to me. Considering goblins as ridiculous is one thing, but when you are kidnapped and imprisoned by them is another. Other than 'serving as a plot device', it's not clear why he was kidnapped in the first place?

I didn't want to post his life story, lest it be more "fluff" to read through.

Malog, despite being 19, once had to have the operation of a lever explained to him. He loves to smash, is voiced like Ygritte from Game of thrones and greets every new experience with way too much enthusiasm, often offending people and making the PC's at the table facepalm.

It's because he is the replacement for Ameiko Kajitsu, and he's meant to be in the Glassworks. I want to run Jade regent directly after RoTL, since it moves to an entirely new location, and continues very nicely.

At this point, we've completely re-written Tsuto, his motives and his relation to Malog. The conclusion will be comical.

If he's that thick, he won't be running an inn, at least not without a lot of help. And if he was a PC from a previous campaign, I'm surprised he got captured (what class & level is he?).

Although Ameiko is 5th level, she could get captured by Tsuto because he could take her by surprise (stunning blow, etc). Not sure that would work on a half-orc fighter-type without magic.
