Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Played our first three games of this last night, completing the Lost Coast in Peril adventure. Brigandoom was difficult, and we only had two blessings in the deck left by the time the villain was finally taken down. The next two scenarios we blazed through. It seems like we were playing a little too cautiously to begin with, using our blessings to secure everything as opposed to continue exploring. Took a little bit to get used to at first, but it's pretty fun.

Light review aside, however, firstly, I had a question about how the henchman Bandit interacts.

1. I am at the city gates, which has, as the check to close the location "summon and defeat a bandit."
2. One of the other players encounters the villain, letting us all try to temporarily close our locations.
3. I summon and defeat a bandit.

Now, since this bandit is a henchman, he has the "you may now attempt to close the location" clause on his card. Does this now mean that I can attempt to permanently close my location by summoning and defeating another bandit?

Secondly, blessings. The generic "Blessings of the Gods" cards say that they are identical to the top blessing of the blessing discard pile. Does this mean that you can always recharge them instead of discarding them? EDIT: Nevermind, I discovered the answer to this one with some more forum trawling.

The rule book has a section on summoned creatures they they are banished to the box after the encounter and you cannot use them to close a location or win the game.

After encountering a summoned card, return it to the box unless
you’re instructed otherwise. If the summoned card is a villain or
henchman, defeating it does not allow you to close a location or win
the scenario—ignore any such text on those cards.

As far as the blessings of the gods go... it mirrors the cards text for effects... but it is not identical to the card so you do not get to recharge it. This is something I expect they will put in a FAQ as it gets asked a fair amount.

I don't have my rulebook handy but I believe the answer is in the summoned cards section. Which states that you do not get to close the location when you beat a summoned henchmen. I'll see if I get get the exact qoute later.

The blessings of the Gods card allows it to use the same text, but it itself is not a blessing of X. So in short, you cannot always recharge a Blessing of the Gods.

Edit: I got ninja'd! Oh well, my post confirms at least =D

Thanks!

I was about to remove the thread as I discovered that line after re-reading the rules, but you managed to be quicker than me.

I played the game with people who play a lot of MtG, so while I assumed it not being entirely identical was the intention, they're used to playing to the letter of the rules.
