Character models?

Ive just been kind of curious lately as to what do most of you use as ur characters when your playing. Do you use models pieces out of the bestiary boxes or just random stuff laying around your house. For the sessions i play in we use models but their always the same ones and was wondering what other people use and where are some good places to look for them.

Pathfinder battles

D&D minis if you can find them in your price range

Note: Singles for all of those ARE available in the paizo store on this site

Sovereign Court

The Reaper minis need painting, but painting minis is fun.

Elfsera do some cool adventurer sets which have been painted.

Set 1 and Set 2

Otherworld Miniatures also do good unpainted adventurer minis here.

I'm a cheapskate, and if you're like me, too busy to spend a lot of time painting to build up a serviceable pool of minis. As a result, I have never been able to resist the defunct Confrontation line of pre-paint miniatures. They used to be *so cheap* online, and are the finest quality prepaints I've ever encountered. You can still get some at great prices at miniaturemarket.com, but a lot of the <$1 deals have evaporated as the stock has depleted, but there's till some to be had. The Griffon and Lion sets are full of great spellcasters, fighters, cavaliers, and paladins. Cheap lots like this one are still available at about a buck per mini, and you can spot some real gems in there: cloaked witchhunters, dual-dagger-wielding rogues or assassins, plate-armored spearmen, an armored mage with a great translucent fire effect, and a sword-swinging, plate-armored wearing paladin/fighter/cavalier type. And they double as great groups of NPCs and enemy combatants, too. And that's CHEAP for that quality.

I also buy up singles of select Mage Knight minis and re-base them to Confrontation bases (also very cheap). The Mage Knight line is very hit-or-miss, but you can usually score them for <$1 per mini, particularly if you find a good seller on eBay that have well-stocked stores, like AvengersRule2002, (who is running a big sale and has a free shipping offer right now) or Grunhir, both of whom will consolidate shipping. Just check out the figure carefully, googling them by name if you need to to check out better images. Some have great sculpts and poor paint jobs. Others are painted OK but don't have great sculpts. Others are just fantastic figures all the way around, and there are some GREAT individuals for PCs(the Horrorclix line, while not fantasy, has above-average quality for this brand and some stuff that totally works for fantasy PCs, and cheap! I use this guy for my alchemist, for example, and this guy's a great rogue character).

And, of course, there are GREAT monsters mixed in all those listings, like this awesome devil imp and this great partially-translucent ghost figure (perfect for Haunting of Harrowstone!)

And I can't say enough about the Pathfinder Battles line. I typically splurge in the $2-4 for a PC that really fits, but for building up my collection of usable minis, there's nothing like the cheap stuff to get a great-looking stockpile!
