"Dragon Empires Gazetteer" and "Dragon Empires Primer"?

Lost Omens Products

Hello, my question is simple to any who have read both. What are the differences between the "Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Dragon Empires Gazetteer" and the "Pathfinder Player Companion: Dragon Empires Primer". Is one focused at players and the other is more context for the setting? Would it be "bad" for a player to read the campaign setting? Is there other books I could look at? I'm considering running Jade Regent, Ruby Phoenix, so something homegrown based on whatever information excited me. Anyone with experience with these materials or others, I would love to hear what you have to say! Thank you!

The Primer is focused for players, and the Gazetteer is for GMs. If you're running Jade Regent, you shouldn't need too much besides what's provided in the AP for background information (though if you like Norse stuff, I *do* recommend getting Lands of the Linnorm Kings for part 2 of the Adventure Path).

The gazateer is comparable to the gazateer PF put out before the inner sea guide. Mainly a breakdown of the area and its gods while the primer has feats and archetypes. To me the primer is more useful but that's my opinion.

The Gazatteer is mostly GM focused but I would still allow players to read it since it always helps for the players to be more familiar with the setting. Also, the list of deities in that book is a must have for any Tien Xia born cletics.
