A few of my posts have been deleted with no explanation.

When I've taken the time to contact staff about it I was told PMs don't work.

I emailed webmaster and asked. 8 days passed, no response. I emailed again and asked if I should be addressing my emails to someone else or what I should be doing. No response yet.

When a post is deleted a PM or a note would be appreciated. If a post violates the board rules, one should be told. If a post was deleted for another reason, one should be told.

We try to keep up on that mailbox but sometimes it does get a little behind. I don't see any emails from you in the webmaster inbox.

You've had three posts removed, two of which we thought were posting errors. The third one had a ton of spoilers about a Pathfinder Society scenario, but it was in a spoiler tag so I'm not 100% sure why it was removed. I'll ask around.

I can answer this one, as I was following that thread at the time:

That post was in the PFS GM Discussion section, where Macon had protested certain spoilers because players could look them up and cheat. When he was told it was fine, he tried to make a point by posting what was essentially a walkthrough of the scenario in question, facetiously framed as a resource for any players who might want to metagame.

It was, I believe, Mark Moreland who deleted that one, and he announced having done so in that thread.

No idea on the other two deleted posts, though.

jiggy:
Did you delete the thread? I'm pretty sure Mark did.

One thing I would not waste my time doing is creating a thread about things that have been explained.

Mark took the time to explain why he did what he did. Whether or not I agree with him he displayed the heart of "don't be a jerk" by stating a reason for his actions.

gary:
webmaster@paizo.com nothing from me there? Curious.

Sorry, it looked like Gary was asking about that post in particular and didn't know why it was deleted. Just trying to save him some time in researching it, that's all.

I'm sorry, I'm still not sure what you're talking about. We have no emails from you in the webmaster inbox. Maybe your query bounced?

I received an email regarding the reasons for the removal of several of your posts and responded, but it was on my personal email and not a shared webmaster account (which I don't have access to anyway).

Ooh. Just checked my mailbox and i have no notifications that my messages have been deleted. Whew! I must be playing nice. Or nice enough. ^_^

Anytime I've had posts deleted on forums I knew I was taking the piss didn't need an explanation. I didn't see the thread but did you actually post up the entire mod and then feign ignorance on why it was deleted lol.

I just see amidst a few of my threads a post thats been deleted saying play nice and there's no telling if it was mine or not. I'm also a bit snerky so i thought there might be the possibility I pushed a limit somewhere... Apparenly i have not yet set off any tripwires and can now reasonably assume that I will receive an email if i do...

This is good to know ^_^

I hope they make reference to what you say that crosses the line if it happens though.

Nope.

I will reply(resend) to them after I dig them out of my archives.

LOL indeed.

I am going to say it seems a little disingenuous to write a post saying you do not know why your posts were taken down, and that you have not heard from anyone about it, when in fact the person who removed your post replied to the email you sent them and explained why.

Sorry John, there are still posts unaccounted for. Which I have now explained twice to people who aren't paizo staff.

/edit Sorry three times.

I hereby request an illustrated commentary on my deleted posts, complete with Wayne Reynolds art prints, insider commentary from James and Erik, foreword by Gary and Liz, cartography by Rob Lazzaretti and a personal doodle from SKR.

Any chances for that in 2013?

I second this request, but submit that it will take at least 3 years to compiles a list of Gorbi's deleted posts.

I'm just finding it humorous that almost 10% of MB,Esq's posts are now in this thread. ;)

And, MB,Esq, if you are missing only three posts, then check the postmonster's response here.

If it is more than three posts, then could it be that they were deleted as part of a mass deletion (i.e. - a post, and all replies to it, were deleted)?

Bottom line is, though, there is no requirement that you or anyone else is guaranteed an explanation of why a post is deleted, let alone a PM explaining why. Typically, when posts are removed, there is a note placed in the thread and that's it.

And I think your estimate is low Skeld ... ;)

It would be ironic if we deleted his posts asking about his deleted posts.

Sean K Reynolds posted to this thread and it was mysteriously deleted with no explanation. Coincidence?

Thinking this outta be in the stretch rewards section for the kickstarter

See all of this is funny. You guys are having some fun making fun of me. This is what message boards are about expressing opinions.

However the selective enforcement of the singular rule of this message board by Paizo staff is not OK.

Deleting someone's post without so much as an explanation and then not responding to that user's questions is not OK.

The reason I created this thread was to get the attention of the people that weren't responding to my questions.

That goal has been achieved. Thanks to the postmonster for paying attention. And thanks to staff like Mark who deign to explain themselves when they delete a piece of our community.

Locking this thread because I don't think we need a pile-on here. Macon Bacon, let's keep the rest of this discussion via email.
