Pathfinder for Dummies?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Aside from the books and the Pathfinder SRD online, does anyone know if there's an idiot's guide to Pathfinder for noobs? I'm having a difficulty trying to understand the rules.

You are citing where I would send you.

Throw out your questions here. This community is wonderful for fielding questions :)

I do not think there is, but feel free to ask questions. :)

The Pathfinder Beginner Box is a great starting point if you haven't looked at that yet.

This is the best online community I have been a part of. Really helpful, and knowledgeable members here with a wealth of information. I learn something new almost every time I come here.

And we usually love questions from new players. This forum is one of the best parts of Pathfinder so ask away!

Narl's right. The Beginner Box is good to ease into it all, and the Transitions PDF is an awesome help to taking the step between the Beginner Box and the full rules. I've been using the Beginner Box (and a few advanced rules) to bring my lady up to speed with Pathfinder (after her not playing any RPGs since 2nd Edition D&D), and it's been working out pretty well.

Second Beginner Box. I've played Pathfinder for a couple of years now and picked up the Beginner's Box just to check it out. It was a great resource and a fine introduction to the game. Also has some neat cardboard minis which will come in handy until you acquire a collection of your own.

I have a question about the Beginner Box. Does it include solitaire adventures? The problem is that I live in a remote area with no one to play with, so I'm looking to PBP (Play-By-Post) online. I have Wrath of Ashardalon, which is a DnD board game that allows me to play solitaire.

That's really great to know, I truly appreciate it. I'm glad I found this place. Thanks so much again!

The begginer box does have a solo adventure designed to introduce you to play. However pathfinder, and most rpgs are a social game. You really do need other people to play them. The good thing though is now adays there are lots of ways to do this. You can look for a play by post game here on the forums, or see if anyone has a slot open for a virtual tabletop game. You might want to post in the gamer connection section of the forums and see if anything bites.

Also take a look at this download. It includes among other things a nice single page cheat sheet of basic game terms.

Featherboost, you could also play on a VTT (Virtual Tabletop). Send me a PM and I can show you a really easy one (Roll20). That way you can join an online group that meets at a regular time and plays like a regular table-top group (more or less).
