Multiple orders - can I be sure paizo won't combine packages into one?

Customer Service

Hi awesome Customer Service people,

I'm strongly considering grabbing a bunch of books from the 10th anniversary sale. However, due to the limits on Import Tax from outside the EU, I have to make sure the value of each shipment does not exceed a certain amount.

As such, I'm going to be ordering multiple orders of two books each. It is very important that each order be shipped separately, and not combined with other orders. If that happens, the Import Tax + fees will cost me more than the actual products + shipping.

How do I make sure that doesn't happen?

/Jacob

I don't think there is a way to avoid this - except placing one order, waiting for it to ship, then placing another. I've been caught by it before and got stung for taxes as a result as the Paizo store automatically combines shipments where possible to save S&H costs.

That said, for the UK if you are just buying books and they ship as labelled as books (which they do normally from Paizo) then you will be OK I think as books are VAT exempt IIRC.

Crazy Cat has the right of it, here (at least for the first point. Not sure about the VAT stuff for books). The only way to guarantee that the system won't auto-combine your orders is to wait for one to ship before placing another.

Thanks,

Thanks for the swift reply, Cosmo (and Crazy_cat). I'll get right to ordering, then.

Unfortunately, even books are subject to VAT here in Denmark, and as soon as a shipment exceeds about $13.50, VAT kicks in, and the mail service charges a $26 fee for processing your shipment, so getting stuff shipped gets expensive REAL fast.

Liberty's Edge

I agree with JaceDK here, (I am also from Denmark).
The package control thing that handles the VAT stuff here is really getting good and picking up every single package i have gotten from paizo from like last christmas. And just about every parcel has this large fee, 26 bucks on each package, so I would also really really appreciate that I just received one big , and slightly more package in regards to p&p , then several small ones with several fees of 26 bucks as a result.
My last order from paizo that left just a week ago from the them, were packed into 3 packages in total, and so will likely cost me at least 52 extra dollars in import compared to one package. So if the p&p were less that 52 dollars more it would have saved some money here...

long email, but just trying to explain why several packages is not always a good solution.

I'd suggest setting your orders/subscriptions to ship using USPS Priority Mail. As far as I have experienced, choosing this method of shipping will ensure that your order will be shipped in a single package, and it will probably always be less expensive than the standard method plus 2 or 3 times 26 dollars.

And it should arrive faster.
