Does anyone read AP write-ups / journals?

Skull & Shackles

I ask because we have a really great one going on and I'm very tempted to post it here, at length, written as an actual journal by one of the PC's... but I've seen other journals posted before, some with many entries, but never seen a single response to them. I wouldn't want to go to all that work just to clutter up the board.

the more, the merrier. It's always nice to have a glance on how other groups tick and play

I read over the one's involved with AP's I'm about ready to run. Otherwise no.

Silver Crusade

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I've been reading Skull & Shackles ones voraciously, to mine for ideas.

Sczarni

Kingmaker and Second Darkness can be particularly challenging to GM, so some prep reading is very useful.

We've run a really great one so far and our 'journalist' is very good at what he does, so I'd really like to post it... just wanted to make sure there was some interest out there.

so far we've got the following chapters done:

The Wormwood

The Man's Promise

Bonewrack Isle

The Squibs

Sea Wolves

The Rock

We're working on the end of Fever Sea this weekend. Do you think people would like it if I included some GM editorial notes along the way, so that readers would know what rules we changed, etc.

sure , give us a link, I followed "the Lidu Diaries" for several years on this site, it was wonderfull. It was set in "savage tide" and was well put together.

I love journals for games I'm running. It helps me learn and prep for specific events, laugh about or take notice of what actions the PCs took, and of course the story that each group writes is so different it's interesting to see what's different about each one.

I just hate them if they're typed up dot-for-dot with boring metaphors in a faux-text message style. I think I even had one going for a long time before I lost gusto, and I hope it helped some people run the beginnings of their games.

Sadly we don't have any sort of website set up - just his journal which I thought to clean up a bit, commentate on and post here.

I'd love to see it. I tend to favour PbPs over Journals, because I find many journals dont document NPC interaction as much as I'd like, and THAT, above all, is where I want to mine ideas/quotes from. That said, I really want to kick my research into overdrive before I start my second Skull and Shackles game. I'll have a group of new players and I really want everything to go smoothly. :)

PbP's?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Dropbox is your friend.

PbPs = Play by Post.

I'll read journal's if they're well-written. Guy Humal's Tristan is still my favorite. The best place to post it would probably be in the journal section of the boards.

What DM said. I'm greatly enjoying reading everyone's S&S campaign accounts both for entertainment value ("They did what???") and also for hints on DM-ing and ideas to -ah - "borrow". ;D

Please post yours as well - the more the merrier, arr.

I read the journals that document the entire AP. 99% of the journals die out before part 3. So I would suggest posting your journal after your group completes the entire AP. I don't think we need any more journals for flamed-out campaigns, we've got thousands of those already.

I suspect as often as not that's due to the lack of response as anything else... nobody wants to go through the effort of posting all that if they don't think anyone is reading it - hence the purpose behind my post. If I think people will read it, and even better respond to it, then I'll post 1-6 religiously.
