Pathfinder society scenarios playing order?

Pathfinder Society

I recently had to acknowledge that my group is no longer stable enough to play the adventure Path without forgetting what their supposed to do.

I have decided to uses the SHORT scenarios of the society for a "mission of the week" type campaign. I can see that some scenarios are split in parts.

I remember reading somewhere that someone had done the job of listing a proposed play order of all society scenarios so that they made sense in.

I can't buy 100 scenarios and read them all to sort it out :)
(Altough Paizo would be happy about that)

Can someone help?

Thanks

I don't remember seeing such a list, but in general if you play them in chronological order, you will be fine. Archs should obviously be played in their given order of possible, but that is not strictly required.

While I've never seen a play order list of ALL scenarios, various people have put campaigns of scenarios together to take a group from level 1 to level 12. Here's a good one although it does include some season 0 scenarios, the majority of which haven't been updated from D&D v.3.5 rules to Pathfinder RPG.

If you want to do a campaign-style story arc without having to actually worry about the story, try this one:

Year of the Shadow Lodge Campaign.

It will follow a story line, but give you the no-hassle "mission of the week" feel you want. If you want more story to it, I will be doing an update to the thread (soon, I hope...) that includes notes on NPC placement and story pacing.

Otherwise, there are a lot of mini-storyline module arcs that you can follow. This thread does a good job of compiling them.

If you're not worried about story, just download low level modules, set up your PFS group, and go. Start with the First Steps series, move into the Quest for Perfection, and go from there. I.E. don't sweat it.

I did the same thing.

There's no continuity between scenarios unless it specifically says "Part 1 / 2 etc". They can be played in any order. Sometimes there is a "spiritual" continuity, but it's really loose. Even with a multi-part series, all scenarios are independent of each other and while it won't make as much sense and it's not recommended, they're mission based.

Any list that anyone provides is only a suggested list, based only on their preferences (which might not be yours). There is no 1 all-encompassing "best" list to play by. Some people like modules (I prefer scenarios), some people like the Shadow Lodge arc (I don't), some people like some of the season 0 scenarios (I prefer more recent scenarios). Some people like roleplaying scenarios and some people like combat scenarios.

Everyone has an opinion, so probably the best thing to do would be to read through the summary and user reviews for a lot of the scenarios and see what you think would appeal to your group. Take some suggestions from the people here, try some out, and go from there.

In general I'd look at season 3 scenarios, because overall they seem better and all factions have their own faction missions. Also, the chronicles have current PA / Fame separated, so it's a little easier to explain this to people.

I actually thought up several campaign orders a while ago. This was pre Season 3 but some of them have First steps.

All my campaigns have the general theme of starting out with adventures in Absalom, then moving to the near nations of the Inner Sea (Andoran, Taldor, & Qadira) then moving more abroad. This is mainly because I think this is what the Society would do with new recruits.

Separated this post out for clarity's sake.

To get a better campaign and sense of verisimilitude though I created 2 other Campaign Paths that aren't strictly Season based. They also have no overlap and can be played by different characters of the same person.

I forgotten to mention above that my order also takes into account what Lodge and Venture Captain sent the PCs, I try to order things in travel patterns that make sense. (IE stopping in Almas when on the way back from Augustana to Absalom)

Campaign Path 1 is all about multi-part arcs. It has lots of linked Scenarios and includes all mods with Grandmaster Torch. It doesn't have every single Shadow Lodge mod but has most of them and presents them in a logical order.

Level 1:
Master of the Fallen Fortress
The Frozen Fingers of Midnight
Silent Tide
Level 2:
The Beggar's Pearl
The Devil We Know, Part 1 - Shipyard Rats
The Devil We Know, Part 2 - Cassomir's Locker
Level 3:
The Devil We Know, Part 3 - Crypt of Fools
The Devil We Know, Part 4 - Rules of the Swift
Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch
Level 4:
City of Strangers, Part 1 - The Shadow Gambit
City of Strangers, Part 2 - The Twofold Demise
Delirium's Tangle
Level 5:
Shades of Ice, Part 1 - Written in Blood
Shades of Ice, Part 2 - Exiles of Winter
Shades of Ice, Part 3 - Keep of the Huskarl King
Level 6:
The Heresy of Man, Part 1 - The First Heresy
The Heresy of Man, Part 2 - Where the Dark Things Sleep
The Heresy of Man, Part 3 - Beneath Forgotten Sands
Level 7:
Shadow's Last Stand, Part 1 - At Shadow's Door

Campaign Path 2 may be more up your alley. It's about mission of the week style missions. With the exception of First Steps and the 2 Parts of Before the Dawn every Mission is stand alone, though some are related to past scenarios. Level 1:
First Steps, Part 1 - In Service to Lore
First Steps, Part 2 - To Delve the Dungeon Deep
First Steps, Part 3 - A Vision of Betrayal
Level 2:
Mists of Mwangi
The Hydra's Fang Incident
The Prince of Augustana
Level 3:

I put this together for my local lodge. Thought I would share.

This is a combination of seasons 3 and 4 (plus Day of the Demon from season 5 as it is related). My goal was to cover the major parts of the following plot lines: Season 3 metaplot (Hao Jin Tapestry), Season 4 metaplot (Risen Rune), Blackros Matrimony, A small Aspis Consrtium plot, and the Lissala. I had to add a few unrelated scenarios in the middle area for level requirements. You understand.

Level 1 - Pre Hao Jin Tapestry plot
3-01: The Frostfur Captives (1-5)
3-05: Tide of Twilight (1-5)
3-07: Echoes of the Overwatched (1-5)

Level 2 - Pre Hao Jin Tapestry plot
3-09: The Quest for Perfection Part 1 (1-5)
3-11: The Quest for Perfection Part 2 (1-5)
3-13: The Quest for Perfection Part 3 (1-5)

Level 3 - Aspis Consortium Plot
4-07: Severing Ties (1-5)
4-14: My Enemy’s enemy (3-7)

Level 4 - Risen Rune plot, Hao Jin Tapestry plot, and Misc
4-02: In Wrath’s Shadow (3-7)
3-02: Sewer Dragons of Absalom (3-7)
3-21: The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment (1-5)

Level 5 - Blackros Matrimony lead-up plot
3-12: Wonders of the Weave Part 1 (5-9)
3-14: Wonders of the Weave Part 2 (5-9)
3-25: Storming the Diamond Gate (3-7)

Level 6 - Blackros Matrimony plot
4-09: The Blackros Matrimony (3-7)
4-13: Fortress of the Nail (5-9)
5-14: Day of the Demon (3-7)

Level 7 - Risen Rune plot, Hao Jin Tapestry plot, and a misc
3-06: Song of the Sea Witch (3-7)
4-02: In Wrath’s Shadow (3-7)
4-03: The Golemworks Incident (5-9)

Dark Archive 4/5 5/5

I made a type-o and have Wonders of the weave in there twice. There are a couple of ways to fix this for your lodge:

Method 1 (recommended):
Display more of the the Blackros family and their lore.
At level 5 bracket; run # 0-05 Mists of Mwangi (3-7) and #2-11 The Penumbral Accord (1-5) in place of the Wonders of the Weave parts 1 & 2 respectively.

Method 2:
Display more Aspis Consortium lore and include some of the first Aspis scenarios. #33: Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible (1-5) and #3-19: The Icebound Outpost (1-5). Alternatively, you could run #29&30 The Devil We Know parts 1&2.

Method 3:
Pick some of your own! :P We all do this for fun afterall!
