Multiclassing into Gunslinger

Searched, but couldn't find anything on this:

If you take a character who has level(s) in another class, and multiclass him into Gunslinger, does he get the free gun?

I couldn't find anything in the FAQ on it, and the class write-up seems to allow it, but I would rather have something approaching a definitive answer before I multiclass my PFS character into Gunslinger in a couple of levels.

The Gunslinger SRD Page in the Gunsmith class feature says "At 1st level, a gunslinger gains one of the following firearms of her choice..." Meaning that you gain it whenever you take your 1st level in gunslinger.

Yep - don't forget to spend that 300gp via Gunsmithing to repair the weapon upto a Masterwork item....and take advantage of the ammo production at 10% cost...and also put 1 skill point into Alchemy :D

By rules, yes.

The gun gained is tied to the 1st level of the class, not the level or hit dice of the character.

Much same as a wizards arcane bond with an item or a druids companion.

I would personally RP it as the character has been working on this new device, tinkering with it on his journeys, and he has finally finished it. It was never a working device UNTIL you gained that first level of Gunslinger, so it wouldn't have counted against WBL.
