Labyrinth of Madness by the Great Monte

Grand Lodge

I was looking through my older gaming stuff and I found a AD@D Module from Monte. This Mod would be an awsome addition to the Serpent Skull AP with a little tweaking. It says 15th level and up so I will try my tweaking skills and see how well it comes out. Any and all feedback will be appreciated. One question: Where would be a good place to post this?

Its a good module but has an error or three. Theres errata for it somewhere.

Id probably use Mike Shel's upcoming PF module instead. If you arent familiar with the near-legendary Mud Sorcerer's Tomb (module in dungeon) you have missed out. :)

Mike Shel's next great one, Tomb of the Iron Medusa (lvl 14)

While Labyrinth of Madness is one of my all time favorite adventures, it's also super deadly. I would be careful about putting your players well established characters through it. It could be a campaign ender.

To be able to play the adventure successfully, you have to change the Sigil 15 requirement in room E4 to Sigil 12. Otherwise you will never be able to access Sigil 13 and the entire adventure is derailed since the sigils must all be obtained in order. Other than that piece of (very important) errata, the adventure is complicated but playable as written. It is also exceptionally cool. It is a meat grinder even in 2e and could well be a party killer in PF RPG. I ran it several years ago for a large 2e party over a marathon weekend and just barely managed to finish it. Lots of nasty deaths and stuff, though. Bring resurrection magic. Thematically it fits extremely well with Serpent's Skull but I don't know how well the plot would fit in other than perhaps as a side quest for something going on with Ilmurea from even before the events involving Saventh-Yhi. Definitely worth looking into, though.

When Greg Vaughan says that an adventure is a meat grinder...

The traps are over the top, especially since you can die from just the first room (22nd level glyph of warding, power word kill on the floor after you fail your save from the glyph, and then your corpse is reanimated by animate dead and levitated back up the shaft to attack your friends, for example). The yuan-ti titan is also a bit much...
