Pathfinder Society in Charlotte, NC

I am checking here to see if there is already an existing Society chapter in Charlotte, NC. I've been a DnD player for over 20 years, and have recently discovered Pathfinder. I am buying up all the core books and chomping at the bit to get into a game. Is there anyone out there running a game in the Charlotte, NC area?

If not... is there enough interest to start a group? I can GM or play, doesn't really matter to me.

Looking forward to hearing from ya.

Not so far as I know. I live in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte and I know of the Charlotte Meet-Up Group (CMUG) that hosts a variety of games for like-minded individuals. There's also a game store I occasionally visit in Fort Mill, SC (about a 15-20 minute drive from my house) where I used to host a bi-weekly gaming group. Not Pathfinder Society, mind you. But definitely a Pathfinder gaming group.

I usually run a Pathfinder game for ConCarolinas every year in Charlotte. Your best bet for forming (or joining) a new group would be to check out the Charlotte Meet-Up Group, the Science-Fiction/Fantasy Guild at UNC-Charlotte, or the semi-local game stores (like Above Board Games in Fort Mill/Tega Cay). And, if I had more freetime (from my family and freelancing obligations), I'd form/join one of those groups as well.

I'm also a friend of Ron McClung, the guy who puts on the ConCarolinas convention, which is currently hosted at the University Hilton every summer. He always coordinates the gaming activity and they have plenty of RPGA representation, but I also know he's been looking for more Pathfinder Society involvement, too.

My two-cents,

That's awesome stuff, Niel. Much more than I knew already. I've never even heard of ConCarolinas. I'll do some searches on the webz to find those contacts. Thanks a bunch.

Tho... sorry to be a total newb, but what would be the difference between a Pathfinder Society game and just a Pathfinder game. I must say, it's a bit confusing to me.

Pathfinder Society (PFS) is organized gameplay, similar to the RPGA's Living _____ games. There are additional rules/standards applied for this organized gameplay, as well as specific adventures/scenarios to be played.

I can recommend Above Board Games in Fort Mill, SC as a great location and a good variety of RPGers there. If you find it difficult to find a local group (as I have due to time and family obligations), you may also want to check out the Pathfinder Society Online Collective (http://groups.google.com/group/pathfinder-society-online-collective) as a great resource for finding, and joining in games hosted online.

Hope that helps!

Salutations. Sorry to hear that there isn't a group here in Charlotte as of yet. I live close the Matthews and was hopeful. If anyone here might be interested in getting together into an unofficial capacity (my personal favorite anyway), I am happy to try and get together. I just bought the core books yesterday and am fascinated.

I'd been playing 4 since its arrival and like it okay, but I didn't realize how much I missed 3 or 3.5 or 3.x (as I've seen folks refere to pathfinder as) and I cannot wait to play it again... in its new and seemingly better incarnation.

Let me know and we'll get to exchanging data if you're interested.

Thanks!

There's now quite a good sized PFS following in Charlotte, under the Venture Captain Nathan Littlefield. They also have their own website - Just search for the Hornet's Nest Lodge.

Nathan thanks for your help with SCARAB 2015. You are awesome!

I am planning on coming up there for a weekend in Feb, hopefully to run Eyes in a single weekend.
